Chapter 243: Who's the Mouse, Who's the Cat
Enough rain last night. On January 15, Evan was the last time he came to see Glori. Actually, there was no need to say more, because the magical vision in his eyes had already told Glori the answer. So, he waited for the guards to clean up.
The prison guard's long table was lifted out by the guards and then covered with a new silk tablecloth. Next, there is copper and silver wine utensils. What made the guards jealous the most was that there were even maids from the lord's hall who came to fill the wine.
Coming out of the prison and into the courtyard, Glori is unchained and invited to sit across from Evan. The shackles on his hands were badly marked because he had been interrogated by Zachary in the middle of the night. Still, just like when he first arrived, he beat Zachary even though he was chained to the wall.
Seeing Glori's calm appearance, Job tried to find a way to torture him. After a flash of inspiration, Job's eyes rolled.
"Lord Evan, why are you doing this?" said Job, leaning over and whispering in Evan's left ear.
"He's a blue star, so he deserves a proper morning meal, and this is his last. Evan explained. He looked up and stared at Job, who was standing beside him—Job seemed happy to see this happen, so Evan was satisfied.
"Susan has been here, you know?" said Glori. He reached for the white bread, but instead went for the chicken wings that had been torn off most of the meat by the chef.
"Has she been here? I know, and I've kept people staring at her. Evan shrugged, pretending not to care.
"Yes, that girl also eavesdropped on my conversation with Master Evan, and she didn't even think we knew. Who could have escaped Lord Evan so close?" said Job.
Glori stared at Job and couldn't help but laugh.
"You know what? There's always a kind of person in this world who likes to bounce around, and who likes to please with nice words. However, you and I both know the fate of this kind of person. Glori said. Then he placed the wings in a small dish.
Job stared at the chicken wings on the plate and smiled, as if he had seen something about the poor.
"I think people like you love to nibble on meatless chicken wings. When you go and get the drumsticks and breasts on the plate, you'll find that they're not the ones that someone like you can get!" Job scoffed.
Glori let out a snarling chuckle. She remembered Susan's cooking, and those crispy chicken wings that were roasted were his favorites. In his eyes, there was no one better than Susan's craftsmanship, those chicken wings were unbeatably delicious, and Dylan complimented them as well. After hearing Job's words, Glori gets a little angry because Job is laughing at a poor man like Glori.
"Job, Charles, you don't know what a delicacy is. And you, like me, come from a commoner family. When you say that, do you forget what kind of person you are?" said Glori.
"Now, I'm Lord Evan's brains. I've had enough of Aoraya. She's just a woman, and she wants to dominate us big men to work for her. We could have been rich and prosperous with the Revival Legion, but she had lost so many people," said Job, disappointed, "and you, a traitor who saved the demons! I am better than you, and I am just a good tree." ”
"So, you're away from Silver now?" asked Glori directly.
"I never followed him, he was a sinister man, and who could not be used as a pawn in his hands?" explained Job. Job, however, had a point, but was he telling the truth?
"But why are you still here to deliver the letter? And the one for Evan is a signed letter from Oraya. You have to know that Leo has told me everything about you. Glori stood up and said angrily.
Glori's words left Job speechless. Even, Job couldn't find a way to follow the next sentence.
"Wait, Glorie Carlos, Job is not Silver's. If so, how dare he come here? Xavier didn't just set traps inside the city, but outside the city, and these magic traps were enough to kill Job. Evan explained.
Hearing Evan's words, Job broke out in a cold sweat. In fact, he didn't even know about his own escape from Mochizuki City's magic trap, but everything went well. He began to wonder about the returning traveler who had sent him, and he shuddered.
"Job, this is time to eat. Evan said. He waved back and told Job to stand down.
Glori saw Job walking to the prison door, and saw Job pouting and warning himself with his fingers, still in front of the city lord Evan. In such an occasion, Job could not shy away from it, so Glori learned that Job was treated very favorably by Evan, and that he had become Evan's left-hand man, the one who gave advice.
"What are you going to do with Susan?" asked Glori. He stared into Evan's eyes.
"Uh, Miss Susan? she'll be fine. She's not a woman, what can I do with her?" Evan said. He sensed with magic and found that Job was not far from the prison door. Then he said, "Let her be like you, guillotined in full view of everyone? No, it's not appropriate, she's a good person, different from you." Even if Drew wasn't right, you shouldn't have killed Drew, and you shouldn't have saved a Witch of the Order Clan!"
......
Suddenly, there was a roar from outside the prison.
"Zachary, why don't you see the way?" shouted Job.
"I'm here to find my lord, because it's getting late. Crowds of people crowded the streets, waiting for Lord Evan to come and witness the justice of Mochizuki City - dealing with traitors. Zachary explained. He pulled away the horse that had struck Job.
"This damn corner, you should find someone to rest and recuperate!" said Job, angrily. He slapped the mud on his body hard, and it got worse and worse, and he simply left. However, Zachary's voice sounded strange, and Job thought it was Zachary who had caught a cold in the rain last night.
......
Now, Evan was about to say the final words to Glori. Evan raised his glass and drank with Glori.
"Oh, the Thundering Sword has arrived. But, it's really bad because your time is also up. Evan shook his head. He stood up, took the Mochizuki sword from the guard, and hung it behind his waist.
"You've got to go, hopefully you can handle this. Susan and Zoe, you'll have to take care of it too. As for Xavier and Leo, they're both close to you, and I think you have a better idea. Glori breathed a sigh of relief. He sprinkled the last glass of wine on the ground as a sign of respect to the god of light.
"Yes, Evan has to leave. And you, Glori, Carlos, have to leave!" Zachary walked towards Glori.
Suddenly, the wind was fierce, the lightning was thundering, and the morning turned into night.
The black shadow hiding in the corner, unable to see everything in front of him, forcibly opened his eyes, but was covered by dust. He used his magic to detect the magic in the prison yard, and noticed that Evan and Glori and the others had left.
When the storm passes, the line of sight is clear. The dark shadow saw the prison car being escorted. He happily shrank into the slit, and disappeared along the reflection in the street.
The carriage was escorted to the top of the avenue after leaving a dark street. The crowds on both sides were crowded.
"Kill him! he's a traitor!" someone shouted.
"No, that's the blue star! Another old man shouted.
Someone even stood upstairs and smashed flower pots at the carriage. But soon, the man was reprimanded by the guards along the street, for the pot smashed at Job as if it had been blocked by something—the parabola was directly twisted.
"Damn, who are these people?, I'm a good man, what the hell is going on with this pot?" asked Jobber, puzzled. He glanced at the carriage, glared at the blue and white armor.
What about Evan? He's at the front of the convoy, and he's about to get to the execution table in the square.
"Evan!" Susan rushed into the crowd.
"Stop her! Don't let her get near the carriage!" shouted Job.
It's as if Susan could make the carriage disappear as soon as she touched it. Job stared at Susan with such horrified eyes.
"Yes, we'll have to stop her, that girl likes people in the carriage. Zachary said in a weird way. He smiled at Job, even to Job's disgust.
"Glori, Carlos!" a man pushed away the guards blocking the crowd.
"You must be mistaken! These are just rumors!" a woman shouted.
"Yes, you'll have to let Glory Carlos!" exclaimed Susan.
The man recognized Susan. That day, when Glori and the others rescued Xavier, he was the man they met who hid the portrait of the God of Light. He tugged at the guards who tried to stop Susan, and pinned them to the ground.
When the guard got up, the man reached out and tore off the guard's pocket, slipping away. "Come after me, see who's the mouse and who's the cat!" shouted the man.
"Who's the mouse, who's the cat?" said Job, who almost laughed. But soon, he turned pale. Who's a mouse? Who's a cat? He began to mumble, wondering why Evan had changed so quickly. What else could it be? Isn't it because Evan has seen the evidence, he thought?
Evan stood on the platform and looked at the people under the gallows. He held aloft the Golden Covenant and then announced what was ready.
“...... Now, we have it for all to see, the witch's accomplices are here! We're going to let justice take care of all this!" said Evan.
......
The one-horned crow standing on top of the clock tower picked up a strand of golden hair on the top of his head and glanced at the slanting sunlight. This sunlight passed through the tower of the Great Hall of Lords, then through a potted tree of loyalty, to the location of the bound man, the guillotine. The blue and white armor worn by the bound man made it impossible for the crow to look directly.
In a moment, a white eagle flew over the city, blood splattered from the guillotine under the gallows. And the crow, satisfied, left only because he saw the white eagle.
"It's over, I'm just here!, and my horse has been stolen!" Zachary looked blankly into the distance where his horse was parked, pushed by the crowd.
