Chapter 962: Do as You Please

Especially the Pakistan Navy and Air Force, the enthusiasm for the Z-12 is simply like a rough little virgin, seeing the goddess of his dreams, he can't wait to die for the other party.

There is no way, in addition to excellent altitude capabilities, the Z-12 helicopter also has a strong ability to perform sea and air missions.

Especially at sea, thanks to the light fuselage design of the Z-12 and the powerful turboshaft engine it is equipped with, the Z-12 can carry out take-off and landing operations on a variety of ships.

For example, the Pakistan Navy is now equipped with the American-made Keeling-class guided missile destroyers, as well as the Type 21 missile frigates that have just been introduced from the United Kingdom, and the Z-12 helicopters can easily take off, land, and even park on these ships.

This is a huge boost to the Pakistan Navy.

You must know that although the Pakistan Navy attaches great importance to the development of technology and equipment, due to its own financial resources, it has to make trade-offs in other aspects under the overall situation.

Because of this, the Pakistan Navy has focused on the construction of surface ships and underwater submarines, and the equally important naval aviation can only be put on the back burner.

It is better to say that with the elite Pakistan Air Force providing cover, how can it also hold up a clear and clear sky for Pakistani surface ships.

However, there is a scarcity of specialized aircraft for maritime applications.

The biggest shortcoming of this is the carrier-based helicopter.

You must know that Pakistan's main force is now 5 Keeling-class destroyers and 6 Type 21 frigates, and these 11 capital ships are all surface ships with the ability to carry carrier-based helicopters.

So how many helicopters does the Pakistan Navy have on its hands?

It is a little pitiful to say that there are only 9 of them, of which the 8-ton "Sea King" helicopter occupies one-third, or 3, which are mainly used for anti-submarine patrols and emergency rescue missions in the waters off the Pakistan naval base, and cannot carry out the ocean-going missions accompanying the ship.

It's not that the Pakistan Navy doesn't want to, but the displacement of the surface ships on hand is too small, and the size of the take-off and landing decks and hangars in the rear is limited, so it is simply impossible to carry the take-off and landing of large helicopters of the 8-ton class such as the "Sea King" helicopter.

The remaining six are Lark III helicopters produced in France, with a maximum take-off weight of only 2 tons, which belongs to the category of small helicopters, and Pakistan's main surface ships can carry them.

However, due to the limited layout of the Skylark III helicopter platform, so that it cannot carry advanced detection and rescue equipment, this leads to the Skylark III helicopter can only carry out specific tasks in specific sea areas under the command of surface ships.

For example, surface ships use hull sonar to detect suspicious submarines and guide Skylark III helicopters carrying anti-submarine torpedoes to launch attacks in the area of suspicious submarines.

Another example is that there are people calling for help in a certain sea area, and the Skylark III helicopter goes to the area where the accident occurred under the guidance of surface ships, and conducts low-altitude visual search and rescue.

In this case, the task execution ability of the Skylark III helicopter is very low, and the general daily work is okay, once it encounters a complex situation, the Skylark III helicopter will not be able to play.

One of the two helicopters cannot be shipped, and the other has a limited mission level, because the Pakistan Navy urgently needs a multi-mission light helicopter with independent combat capability to make up for the lack of aviation power of today's surface ships.

For this reason, the Pakistan Navy is not without ideas, for example, while introducing the British Type 21 missile frigate, they have done an extremely detailed performance test of the "Lynx" helicopter, which is also produced in the United Kingdom, and they think it is very good.

However, after the two sides entered into substantive negotiations, the unit price of 38 million US dollars still discouraged the Pakistan Navy, you must know that the Type 21 frigate they introduced is less than 50 million US dollars, although it is second-hand, but the performance is still very good, at least in terms of technical level is stronger than the Soviet-made goods in New Delhi.

As a result, a carrier-based helicopter is almost worth a surface ship, and it is not cost-effective.

So the introduction of the "Lynx" helicopter dragged on.

It was not until the Pakistan Navy saw the outstanding capabilities of the Z-12 during the Karakoram Pass earthquake, and during its subsequent visit to China, it conducted a more in-depth test of the Z-12's ability to perform maritime missions, and decisively abandoned the British "Lynx" and pounced directly on the Z-12.

The reason for this is simple, mainly due to the excellent modular design of the Z-12.

When used as a carrier-based helicopter, the Z-12 can be equipped with different mission modules according to different mission requirements, which are roughly divided into four categories, namely maritime rescue module, anti-submarine attack module, anti-ship strike module and maritime assault module.

The sea rescue module is based on the basic type with rescue sling, medical emergency equipment and airborne search radar, which can carry out independent search and rescue missions for about 3 hours within a radius of 150 kilometers with the surface ship as the core, and can also cooperate with other platforms for three-dimensional rescue work.

The anti-submarine attack module is a comprehensive electronic search system with a set of sea search radar and a set of light point detection system as the core on the basic model, and at the same time, it is equipped with a hoisting active \ passive reconnaissance sonar under the belly, with 12 sonar buoys at the tail of the fuselage, combined with the electronic control equipment inside the fuselage, it can carry out anti-submarine search in the sea area with a radius of 200 kilometers.

Once the submarine's whereabouts are discovered, it immediately uses the four light anti-submarine torpedoes it carries to carry out precision strikes.

The anti-ship strike module retains the integrated electronic search system of the anti-submarine attack module, removes the anti-submarine sonar search system and anti-submarine torpedoes, and replaces them with a set of fire control and guidance systems, so that together with the four C-701 small anti-ship missiles hanging on it, it can pose a lethal threat to small surface ships with a displacement of less than 1,500 tons.

As for the final maritime assault type, it is much simpler, with two machine gun mounts fixed on both sides of the fuselage and 8 heavily armed special forces, which can use the radar blind spot in the ground and air to carry out rapid assault infiltration of local coastal areas.

In order to facilitate the replacement and combination of various modules, Tengfei Group has reserved a lot of interfaces for the basic type of Z-12 helicopter, such as the search radar under the nose, dismantling the cover, opening a few fixed bayonets to smoothly install the radar, and using the special line reserved in the fuselage in advance to connect with the console fixed in the engine room, you can realize the radar search function on the sea.

On this basis, whether it is anti-ship or anti-submarine or sea assault and sea rescue, it depends on the specific needs of the user, all in all, straight-12 is like a little girl who can be dressed up arbitrarily, salt or sweet, whatever you want.

It is such an excellent carrier-based helicopter, with a unit price of only $12 million, and even with the corresponding module kit, it is only $18 million.

Compared with the British clear water house, the empty "Lynx" basic type, hardcover, luxury all the straight-12 Pakistan Navy can't be tempted, so without thinking about it, they find the Arab Religious Fund controlled by Maxim and apply for $100 million in special aid.

There is no way, someone can help pay the bill, who uses their own money!
