vs 7 Rivalry
Outside Fort Kaval, a brand-new horse-drawn carriage sps down the city's main street next to Twilight Square.
The sound of the grinding of the steel plate axles against the hardstone slabs was accompanied by the neighing of the horses, and the brand-new carriage stopped outside the gate under the watchful eyes of the castle guards.
The door of the carriage was violently pushed open, and an old man in a gorgeous aristocratic dress quickly got out of the carriage and jumped to the ground skillfully, and then a middle-aged nobleman with a slightly chubby figure held the door edge of the carriage door and panted down the carriage, muttering incomprehensible broken words.
"Collier!" the Otwood knight, who was waiting at the gate, shouted at the sight of the man coming out of the carriage and immediately greeted him.
"Why are you here?" said Collier, his face full of surprise, and he unconsciously had a bad feeling in his heart when he saw his master's lieutenant appear in such a place.
"For some reason, the nobles suddenly turned against Master Pedi, and they demanded that the tax office stop the tax reform. With a stern expression on his young cheeks, the Otwood knight stared at Cowlier, "Baron Gomez has charged you with three charges in front of many nobles!"
"I can imagine what kind of crime it is. The old mage smiled wryly, and there was a faint worry in his heart.
"What does Master Petdy say?" asked Sir Edwin, who was sweating profusely beside him, his first ride in a speeding carriage.
"I don't know, as soon as the conflict began, Sir Banger hinted that I came out and sent the knights' guards to garrison the walls. The Oldwood Knight shook his head slightly, thought for a moment and lowered his voice and asked Kaul, "Do you think I'm going to inform the Captain of the Guards, Sir Bowenlet, who is stationed outside the city?"
"Don't!"
"Go now!"
Two different opinions came out of the mouths of Cowleyl and Sir Edwin. The old mage disagreed, and Sir Edwin anxiously urged the young knight in front of him.
The two 'partners' looked at each other, and the old mage muttered for a few seconds before admonishing, "You can invite Sir Bowenwright to Castle Caval, but don't let him bring any soldiers into the city!"
"It's... Well, I see. The Oldwood Knight hesitated at first, but suddenly agreed as if he had thought of something.
Sir Edwin was strict, frowning, but did not say anything more. Then the three of them greeted each other and walked in their own direction.
...
In less than a minute, the old mage and Edwin were approaching the entrance to the main hall of Kawalburg.
Two large steel gates, nearly three meters high, were open, and the questioning of the nobles and the anger of Pedi could be heard in the ears of Cowlier and Sir Edwin with great clarity.
"You're admitting to the tandem?" came Pedy's angry rebuke.
It was the first time he had heard his master speak in such a gloomy tone, he looked at the close and open door and subconsciously stopped, he grabbed Edwin's arm and said quickly, "You go in first, I have to go to the side door to see!"
Sir Edwin was stunned, and by the time he turned his head, Cowlier's figure was at least five paces away from him. Edwin wanted to stop him, or go to the side hall with the old mage, but after a short thought, he finally gritted his teeth and quietly entered the main hall under the gaze of the two guard knights.
None of the nobles of Kawal Castle noticed Sir Edwin's entry, and their eyes were fixed on the two young courtiers facing each other in front of them.
Just now, the young Baron Bell replied casually, "You say yes", and the hall became eerily quiet again.
For Pedy, Earl Bell's answer was like a slap in the face in public, which made Pedi instantly feel that there was an inventable fire in his chest slowly infecting his whole body and quickly invading his brain, and there seemed to be a voice in his mind at the moment prompting him: tear him apart!
"My lord!" Sir Sila next to her sensitively noticed the floating of holy power around Pedi's body, she hurriedly stepped forward and grabbed Pedi's arm, and whispered in his ear: "You should calm down, the nobles are watching you." β
"Hmph" Pedi shook his arm to get rid of Sila's hand, looked at Count Bell and asked coldly: "Fort Caval has issued a proclamation, which clearly fixed that the assembly of more than ten nobles in the next six months must be reported to the police station, do you know?"
"My lord, aristocratic social gatherings have been a habit for thousands of years, and I don't think it's 'tandem' for me and my friends to hold a banquet in our own villa, let alone anything wrong with it. Count Bell replied respectfully, "Our faithful gods can testify that there is no room for a dark conspiracy in the light of your light." He straightened up and looked at Pedi, "Only the little ones can connect, and the real nobles will face the problem head-on, just like I do now." β
"What a grand word!" Pei Di rebuked in a low voice, and the voice carrying the divine power sounded like a thunderbolt in the ears of the many nobles in the hall.
Immediately, he raised his head and looked at the many nobles not far away,
The nobles also straightened their waists and looked at him!
Their indomitable eyes seemed to tell Pedi: We are so magnificent!
Pei Di only felt that he was so angry that he could not breathe, and he wanted to wave his hand and summon the knights outside the door to drag all the nobles in the hall to the city wall and hang themselves.
The facts are telling Pedi that most of the tyrants of history were forced out.
But Pedi can't do that right now.
At the very least, he couldn't execute these people openly.
"Good!" Pedi whispered in a very small voice, or rather muttered to herself,
Immediately, he looked at Baron Gomez, who was closest to him, and asked, "Do you also admit to the tandem, or is it that you organized the collective tax resistance of the nobles a month ago?"
"Nope. Baron Gomez spoke in a very nasal voice, so he spoke slowly, "The aristocracy collectively resisted taxes because your police chief, Cowlier, was too arrogant!"
"How arrogant is Cowlier?" said Pedy, who suddenly became calm.
The Earl of Bell next to him hurriedly said: "Collier abused his power, he set up many taxes in conjunction with the tax office, he knew that the local lords did not have to pay excess taxes, and he also led the police officers of the police station to forcibly collect them, and whipped and imprisoned the nobles who did not pay!"
"If you need proof. Baron Gomez added: "All the nobles present can testify to this. β
"Collier is here to welcome you, and he knows that imposing taxes on nobles will cause disputes. Baron Gomez continued: "I went to the police station a month ago to find him to dissuade him in person, but that damn wandering mage actually scolded my ancestor in front of a group of police officers. β
Count Bell roared, "My lord, what Cowlier has done has made even the gods angry, but the citizens do not know why, and they will think that these are your orders. He took a deep breath and shouted in a louder voice, "It won't be long before the entire Kru Territory thinks you're a tyrant!"
"Are you threatening me?" Pedi said louder than Count Bell, "Or do you think you're better suited for the position than I am?" he pointed to the lord's throne above the steps, "Do you want to sit on it and try it?"
"My lord, I have never thought of it like this!" said Baron Bell with a step back again, with the most humble look on his face, "Your brilliance is as dazzling as the sun, and I am only as small as a grain of rice, how dare I dare to compete with you with the light of this grain of rice." β
"The House of Saco will always be your faithful servants, and our ancestors swore by the gods. Baron GΓ³mez said: "Our ancestors and I have kept a sacred oath, driven by oath and honor, I can give everything to you and your family, as evidenced by the heroic performance of my three sons! "But that wandering mage like a dog has insulted our ancestors' oaths and our honor in public, and he is not worthy to sit in that spacious office and point fingers at the lords!"
"Do you remember the oath of your ancestors?" "Do you remember how the word 'loyalty' was written?" He held the hilt of his sword, "Do you really think that the steel sword in my hand is an ornament?"
"I'm afraid that your sword will cut off my head!" Gomez shot back coldly, "Everything we did today is in accordance with the law, in line with the rules of the Kru Lord, it is you who are breaking the rules, is..."
"By 'you' in your mouth, you mean whom? Pedi interrupted Baron Gomez, "Who else do you want to accuse?
"Everybody who is planning this tax reform. Baron Gomez, "You..."
"Baron Gomez!" Suddenly, a hearty voice interrupted Baron Gomez's accusation.
The voice came from the direction of the hall door, and it attracted the attention of all the nobles present, and Baron Gomez and Count Bell also turned their heads to look behind them.
"Stomping" Sir Edwin stepped forward quickly, the sound of his leather boots stomping echoed through the hall.
"Master Pedy. Sir Edwin saluted with great respect, then turned his head to look at Gomez beside him, "Lord Baron, you were just saying that our tax office imposes additional taxes?"
"Isn't it?"
"Haha!" Sir Edwin laughed, "So, my lord, Lord Baron Gomez, how much tax should your estate pay to Kavalburg each year?"
"Sancheng, this is an agreement between our ancestors and the Reagan family two hundred years ago, and they swore that they would never change it!" Baron Gomez replied, looking up
"Yes, it's really thirty percent, and then I ask you, how much did the Sacco family pay to Castle Caval a hundred years ago, and how much do they pay now?" Sir Edwin's eyes revealed murderous intent in his eyes.
Baron Gomez was stunned when he heard this, "These are all taken care of by my family, and I basically don't care." β
Sir Edwin replied on his behalf: "A hundred years ago, the Sacco family registered to pay taxes of two hundred pounds of wheat and ten heads of various livestock, and how much is the tax paid in your territory a hundred years later?"
"What do you want to say?" Baron Gomez frowned.
Sir Edwin continued: "In January of this year, the Sacco family registered a tax of nearly one hundred and fifty wheat and eight heads of cattle of all kinds. β
"Last year, the Crewe Territory was at war, and a third of the men in the territory rushed to the front, and it was a matter of course that the taxes paid would be reduced!" Baron Gomez said disapprovingly.
"Haha!" Sir Edwin burst into laughter, "Haha!" He couldn't stop laughing, he even bent over with laughter, and wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes with his hands. (https:)
