Chapter 60: Tess's Revenge
"He's only five!" said Naria angrily, "how could they do this to him!"
Once again, Tess lamented in her heart. It's a dragon! No matter what kind of creature it is, when it sees a dragon ramming into its own home, it will only have two reactions - run away, or fight back. Except for this girl who is overprotective of her brother, no one will care how old the dragon is and whether he is a child who has not yet reached adulthood.
"Even if he were caught, the dwarves would probably have suffered a lot of casualties. Tess tried to make Naria more sensible. The ice dragon did save her and Norvi, and she also liked the "cold awkward child" who was simple and rude in a fight, and had a wandering look in his eyes when he lied.
But that's a dragon after all.
In all legends, dragons are always evil and cruel creatures, and that doesn't come for nothing. She doesn't have the same confidence that Ed and Naria have, believing that Isis is still or will always be kind and innocent.
The tragic fate of the dwarves calmed Nalya for a moment, but the fear for her brother soon outweighed the guilt for the dwarves.
"Even so, it must have been the dwarves who did it first......"
Thinking of the dwarves who had actually taken good care of them along the way, Naria's momentum weakened significantly.
Tess swallowed a sigh and reached out to pull her into an uninhabited cave by the side of the road, and a moment later a small group of dwarves lined up and walked through the door.
They waited a little longer, until Tess nodded, and then they left the cave and continued on. The torches on the walls had been extinguished a lot in the confusion, and there was enough shadow for them to hide, but the further down they went, the more dwarves they encountered.
"How do you know a dwarf is coming?" asked Naria. They were now walking on a downward staircase carved out of the rock face, on either side of which the dwarves lived, and there was light in front of them, but most of them were dark, but fortunately there was no abyss next to them, at least they did not have to worry about falling.
"The footsteps of the elves could not escape my ears, and the dwarves walked with a rumbling and rumbling, which to me was like a dragon rushing towards me, and I could hear it from afar. Tess said smugly.
But there were too many dwarves on the way, and before long they had to hide again. If this continues, it won't be long before they are caught by the dwarves.
"We'll have to find another way. Tess frowned and looked around.
They were hiding in another room. The dwarves have probably run out to deal with the dragons, and almost all of the rooms are empty, but soon, they will be back in their rooms and continue to pick up hammers and tirelessly craft weapons, armor, and jewelry...... Naria's gaze fell on the stove and iron felt that would be found in every room, and although no one was tending to it, the fire was still burning strongly, the red flames were soaring upward, and the room was warm and did not smell too much smoke.
Nalya had always thought that the air underground would be filthy and dreary, but the air in the pit wasn't fresh enough, but it was enough for them to breathe smoothly and make sure that there was always a flame burning in so many furnaces......
"Chimney!" she said, pulling Tess over, her cheeks flushed with excitement, "there must be a place for ventilation with so many stoves here!"
“...... I don't like to climb that. And are you sure we can get in?" Tess frowned, but began to look for a vent anyway.
When she felt the warm air rushing through her hair in a corner of the roadside, she found a downward vent and made sure it was large enough for them to crawl over, and when she turned around, Naria had found a jar of clean water and held it in her arms.
"Gotta put out the stove below, if any. She said.
She didn't want to be smoked meat hanging from the stove.
Tess shrugged, glanced down, frowned at the bars on the vents, suddenly raised her head, glared at the ground next to her with a strange expression, and looked at it again, making a silent gesture as Nalya was about to ask, and listened for a moment.
Then she straightened up and muttered, "I guess we're not the only ones who think of using the vents as a road." ”
Even Narya could hear it now, muffled voices coming from the vents, and the sound of something hitting the rocks.
Tess pulled Naria back into the darkness and waited quietly.
The tapping sound coming from the vents became clearer and clearer, as if the man inside was carrying something made of metal, hitting the rock again and again as he crawled.
"Stupid. Tess whispered, "The dwarves can hear the sound coming from the rocks, and if anyone is nearby, they will soon find out that something is wrong here." ”
Finally, a few fingers came out of the bars that covered the vents, tried to lift them up, and retracted them again. The bars were probably to prevent anything from falling, and the intervals were so small that not even a goblin could get in. When he reappeared, he held a small bottle in his hand, carefully poured the liquid on either side of an iron bar, and with a little force, easily broke the iron rod the thickness of his fingers.
The girls watched with bated breath as the hand did so, breaking several other bars, and then a head crept out and looked around slowly.
Tess's steady breathing was abruptly interrupted for a moment. She snatched the jug from Naria's arms, strode out, bent down as if to check, and then kicked the bulging head hard, pouring the entire jar of cold water as the other man screamed and fell.
She bent down, listened to a series of screams and ping-pong sounds coming from the vent, and nodded in satisfaction, her smile as bright as a flower.
Naria looked at her dumbfounded, "What are you doing?"
"Don't you recognize it? That's the guy who shot you down with a poisoned arrow! He still wants to shoot Mochi, and I said I would never let him go. Tess was pleased with her revenge.
No one can really anger her with good results. On the way, she wanted to do it, but the dwarves kept them so far away from the men that she never found a chance to do so.
"However, he has already broken the bars for us, just wait here for him to crawl out, knock him out and drag him aside, and we can go down!" Nalya's revenge was far less intense than that of Tess, she had almost forgotten about it, and more importantly, she had found Is.
"Ah...... The dwarves must have heard this, we need to get out of here!" Knowing that she was too impulsive, Tess blushed a little and dragged Naria away quickly, "Don't worry, sweetheart, I can find another way!"
