Chapter 113: Out of Control
"Xiao Mo!"
Tess screamed, the little mongoose who had just found a warm place to sleep every day had gained weight, but she was still running out of the door very fast.
Akan reached for it, and the movements were quite agile for a big man like him, but not enough to compete with a fat mongoose.
They chased them out of the temple. Moch climbed up the dead tree in front of the temple, and quickly climbed down, running to the edge of the cliff in a puff of smoke.
It stopped, stood upright, and looked back, as if hesitant.
"Mochi!" Tess screamed again. Akan felt more like a chase than an attempt to catch it—though he must have mistaken it.
The little mongoose chirped twice and disappeared from the edge of the cliff.
Tess poked her head out and watched as Mochi scurried and jumped to the next platform, and then looked up at her aggrievedly, as if asking, "What the hell do you want to do, master?
Tess gave her little pet an apologetic kiss from afar, then turned her head to face the big man who was following with a pleading face: "Akan! we need to get it back, it won't be long before it freezes to death!"
The big man scratches his chin in embarrassment. He remembered his mission, but Mochi was his close companion, and he already knew that animals from warmer, drier places couldn't stand the cold.
"Akan!" Tess called earnestly.
Akan looked at Naria for help, but the brunette girl twisted her face to the side as if nothing had happened—she was holding a sword, something was wrong. Akan never leaves his hammer, but Narya is not so attached to her sword.
"Akan, don't you love Xiao Mo?" Tess always had tears in her eyes, "it likes you so much!"
A strange sensation struck him suddenly, and Akan shook his head in confusion.
This action was definitely beyond Tess's expectations, and in the moment she was stunned, Akan suddenly turned around and ran in the direction of the temple.
"Akan!" the girls shouted at the same time.
The big man turned his head, and his blue-green eyes were no longer familiar to them, childlike innocence.
It looks young and old, light as a mirror, and as long as time.
"Tsk!" Mochi's voice was quick and high-pitched, and it had already run back on its own, yelled at Tess, and caught up with Akan and climbed into the arms of the big man.
Akan ran towards the temple again, and the girls looked at each other blankly, so they had to follow.
"What's going on?" asked Naria, puzzled, "why do they all seem to know where they're going?"
"Oh, sweetheart, we'll know. Tess replied, "I have a hunch that this will definitely be more fun than we thought!".
Novi didn't think the situation in front of him could be described as "interesting" at all.
He was inexplicably blocked by a swarm of Squirrels—yes, a swarm of Squirrels, hundreds of those squeaky little creatures crowded into the path in front of him, leaving him with nowhere to stay, and the sight of the elves who were not afraid of the skeleton knights was terrified.
He had to jump on the roof next to him and turn to another street. The rats didn't follow, but it wasn't long before a snowy owl began to pounce on him in the face.
As an elf, he was a little overwhelmed by being so unpopular with animals.
Norway realized that someone—or something he didn't know about—was trying to warn him.
He couldn't tell if it was good or malice, but he couldn't be stopped now.
It wasn't until he drew his sword to threaten that the snowy owl flew to the side, staring at him with a terrible chirp.
- After a moment, the elves began to regret it.
He had heightened his vigilance, but it was not enough in the face of the immediate crisis.
The elf leaps onto the half-broken statue and dangerously dodges two scimitars slashed from different directions. The still sharp weapon slashed at the tombstone, splashing a few sparks.
He quickly crouched, and his sword swung in an arc from left to right, and the enemies in front of him rolled away with agility, and the other directly blocked with his arm. The sword shattered the rusted armour and cut off half of the arm, but the opponent's movements were not affected in any way - of course, the skeleton would not feel pain.
The scimitar slashing upwards slashed past his ear, and Norway rolled over and jumped behind the statue, feeling a little complicated.
The second time he faced the undead, the other party was still an elf, and it was likely to be his ancestor.
He had barely jumped to the bottom of the city, and when he turned a corner, he saw a dozen skeletons wandering aimlessly through the streets, wandering melancholy as if they had returned to their homeland, but as soon as they noticed his presence, they immediately rushed towards him in a neat and orderly manner like well-trained soldiers.
He was so stunned that he could barely avoid the oncoming hook of the long hook knife that had been used against the tall and strong orcs, and the elves had not used it for a long time.
Norway had thought that the undead were mere unconscious puppets, that they only had instincts and could not think, but the skeletons in front of him not only moved freely, but could even cooperate with each other to block his attacks and force him into a corner little by little. The magic attached to his sword still works, but whether it's beheading or glaring, it's a bit difficult to besiege - he should really ask the Singer to enchant his crossbow arrows too!
He used various obstacles to knock down three, but also found that the skeletons didn't let out that chilling howl, as if their power came more from them than from the necromancer, allowing him to focus on the fight and hold on longer. But those fierce elven warriors who fought against the orcs still possess skilled fighting skills even after they have died. The long knife that attacked farther away was very bad for Norvi, and the range of his movement became smaller and smaller.
He was curious to know what it took to summon such a large number of powerful skeleton warriors, but he probably didn't have that chance anymore.
The hook knife slashed through Norvi's chest, pulling out another trail of blood. The elf gritted its teeth and rolled on the snow, kicking one of the skeletons in the knee so that it crashed into the skeleton next to it, swinging its sword to block the other hook knife and try to get out of the gap. But a skeleton using a scimitar quickly filled the vacancy.
Norvi's heart sank, he had never heard of an undead working together so perfectly.
Maybe he should have chosen to flee rather than fight in the first place. At the very least, he could warn the others, but now even if he shouted, the people gathered in the front square and hall would not be heard at all.
Anyway, he had to rush out.
He rolled and jumped, but staggered and lost his balance from the unexpected attack, and a skeleton that had lost both legs grabbed his left leg.
The moment he realized that he could die here, there was only one thought in the elf's mind - he couldn't die. Tess is going crazy, and she might smash the whole city to pieces......
"Norvi!"
He thought the call was his hallucination, but a huge hammer whizzed past him, slamming a skeleton into a wall. The entire wall collapsed and weighed down on the skeleton's body.
Immediately after, a small gray shadow scurried across the snow. Mochi began its frantic dance again, rapidly climbing from one skeleton to another—their jagged skeletons were so easy to climb. At least half of the skeletons were trying to grab it, but it could even burrow under their empty ribs!
Akan roared and rushed over, slamming his body into another skeleton, crushing them into a pile of splinters on the collapsing wall, then grabbed his hammer from the pile of rocks and turned around to easily smash the head of a skeleton that tried to cut off his arm with his sword.
"Well done, Akan!" Tess's voice sounded a little out of breath, but she quickly rushed to Norvi's side, back to back with him, as she did in the Weeping Forest.
"Surprise!" she shouted happily, swinging a wooden stick she had picked up from nowhere, rounding it and smashing it into the skeleton in front of her, and praised the other party as she slapped it away with her long sword, "It's become a little more powerful!"
"That's not what you said!" Naria shouted, but wasn't angry at all. She looked in good spirits, clenched her sword in both hands, split the ribs of one of the skeletons, kicked them away, and then rushed to Akhan's side, fending off the skeletons' attacks for him, allowing the big man to concentrate on his hammer and smashing one enemy after another.
"I told you to stay there!" the elf shouted as he pushed the skeleton in front of him. He was glad that his companions had arrived in time, but he was even more worried that they would be in danger with him.
"Oh, no thanks!" Tess threw the stick into the pile of skulls and pulled out her two beloved little daggers. She had already discovered that the undead were different from the last time, they were quite skilled warriors, not sluggish, tattered skeletons that could be disposed of with a single stick.
"We need to warn Filly and the others!" Novi had given up on accountability, and now was not the right time.
"I've always felt like we're invincible together, especially now it's four of us. But I've got to tell you, if you think it's the only one around, you're wrong!" Tess seemed a little overexcited, but in this case, it probably wasn't a bad thing.
"Can't you be more simple!" called Naria, "Norwe, a dozen more...... Whatever it is, it's coming for us!"
“...... I see it. The elf said with a heavy heart, watching another group of skeletons appear at the intersection, and almost suspected that it was a hell of a joke - did they accidentally anger some god?
"They all came with us!" Tess happily stabbed into the eye socket of a skeleton suppressed by Norwe, "we didn't want to provoke them, but they are still far away, and they are chasing after them like bees that have been stabbed in their nests!
"Thank you for the compliment. Norway smiled wryly, "Akhan! make a way south! We need to go to the square!"
Akan yelled to indicate that he had heard, and turned around to clear the way with his beloved hammer. Naria followed the big man, and Tess tried to call Mochi back, but the little mongoose seemed to be infected by the excitement of its mistress, and could not stop the frantic dance of death no matter what.
"It's going to be fine!" Noway grabbed Tess and dodged the long knife that had slashed over their heads, "We need to hurry, Filly and Ed could be in danger!"
"If that's the kind of trouble they're in, I wouldn't be surprised at all!" exclaimed Tess, "I told you that paladins can't be trusted!"
