Chapter Fifty-Eight: The White Behemoth
Tess rolled out of bed.
"Holy, is the mountain going to collapse?!Why does something always fall when I'm underground!...... That's why I hate to wander underground!"
A group of dwarves rumbled past their doors, followed by another, and a third group of dwarves ran over, and it was quiet outside.
Nariara opened the door, probed out, and looked left and right.
"No one is there. Even the guards are gone!" she said back to Tess, "let's go out and have a look." β
Tess refuses to move: "The mountain will fall! There won't be another ice dragon to save me this time!"
Naria grabbed her and pulled her out, "If the mountain really collapses, you'll die if you stay here." β
β...... Sweetheart, didn't anyone say you had a poisonous mouth?" Tess reluctantly followed her out.
Ed said. Naria didn't care, "But I'm telling the truth." β
"The people of Ston Butch used to say that the truth is as full of thorns as the branches of a rose. Sometimes you'll have to learn to scrape them off, sweetheart, or Ed won't dare marry you. Tess sighed.
Naria almost fell on a smooth, slanted stripe to prevent slipping.
"What the hell have you heard!" her face flushed, "who said I would marry him!"
"So you prefer Is, even though he's a dragon, he can also turn into a human, so I guess that's fine......
"Iss is my brother!" Naria interrupted her with a red face, not noticing the front of her because she was distracted, and crashed headfirst into another person.
She was taken aback and stopped abruptly, and Tess, who was following her, had reacted quickly to shove a short sword into her palm.
"Fili?" Nalya recognized the man she had nearly knocked into the abyss.
She still hid the dagger in her sleeve just in case. She's been plotted once, and she doesn't plan to do it again.
Tess also recognized the Anktann hunter who had been brought into the pit by the dwarves like them, and poked her head out from Naria's back to say hello, "Fili, it's a pleasure to meet you, are you also a guest and not a prisoner?"
The hunter nodded noncommittally at her, he was about forty years old, ordinary in appearance, with deep wrinkles at the corners of his eyes when he smiled, but his eyes looked very young. Because he took off his hat, his curly hair, which was neither long nor short, was messed up like a bird's nest.
They had a brief conversation on the road. He also cooked dinner for Naria, and was kicked aside by Naria for throwing a large handful of salt in a daze.
"Where do you want to go?" he asked, "it doesn't seem very safe here." β
"I just wanted to come out and ask what happened with that loud bang just now. Naria replied, "You know what?"
"It seems like somewhere down there has collapsed. "The dwarves who were guarding my door have all fledβI would say that it is not good that they are so unvigilant, and that it is no wonder that they cannot catch anyone who has gone into the mines...... However, I happened to be hungry, so I came out to find something to eat. "He's quite good at eating, and Tess is impressed by that.
"I guess they don't care about entertaining guests now, you'd better go back to your room, if the dwarves send someone to watch you, they won't like to see you running around. Tess didn't want to be distracted by one more person around her.
"What about you?" asked Fili, puzzled.
Tess puffed up her chest: "We're guests, let's visit the city...... There's nothing wrong with the pit!"
"But I'm really hungry. "Can I follow you?" and I will go back when I find something to eat." β
As Tess squinted and pondered how to shake off the man who didn't know if he was really stupid or pretending to be stupid, another loud bang shook the entire mine, and the three of them immediately clung to the wall to avoid falling into the abyss because of the shaking. They heard a low, great roar rising from beneath the abyss, thundering through the kingdom, and the cries of the dwarves mingled in a faint and small sound, and the sound of chains being pulled was shrill and piercing. On the opposite side of the passage, more dwarves swarmed out and rushed downward, no one was distracted to pay attention to them, and if they wanted to escape, now might be a good time.
Naria hesitated for a moment, then turned to Tess, "What's that sound?"
There was anticipation and uneasiness in her tone, and Tess understood why.
"Did the dwarves dig up any monsters from the ground?" Filly poked his head out curiously, looking at the bottom of the mine, who didn't know how deep.
Another roar was heard, and the sound of rocks collapsing and tumbling down reflected off the rock walls on all sides, and it was terrifyingly loud. Filly jerked his head back, his hair fluttering wildly in a sudden gust of wind.
"Danger! danger!" he cried, grabbing Naria, who was closest to him, and looking to both sides to find a place to hide.
But the girl froze for a moment, then immediately broke free of his hand with all her strength and rushed to the edge of the passage.
"Is!!!" she cried out.
A huge figure rose from under the abyss, and under the flickering firelight, the silver-white reflection was as bright as the stars. It staggered as if it had been dragged by something, knocking through many bridges along the way.
Naria's slender body swayed in the strong wind of the white wings, but she refused to retreat a single step.
They only had time to see the wings that seemed to cover the entire abyss, and the body of the white beast suddenly stopped, its wings fluttering wildly, and the wind in their faces made them barely open their eyes.
With a long, unwilling roar, the dragon fell heavily. Fear struck everyone in the chest as if something substantial, and Naria couldn't help but take a step back, but immediately rushed forward.
"Is!!" she shouted again, leaning forward, as if desperate to jump, but Tess and Fili, who had come to their senses, pounced on her at the same time, dragging her back.
In the blink of an eye, a violent tremor shook the entire pit again, and large and small stones fell over their heads, forcing them into a shallow groove nearby, and one stone bridge broke in the tremor, and the rocks of the entire deck crashed down, slamming down on one of the bridges below, and then another, and another...... It took a while for the sound of stones and wood tumbling to subside. Most of the bridges that used to cover almost the entire center of the pit were damaged by the impact of ice dragons and rocks.
"The gods are above, that guy is big enough!" said Filip in surprise, patting his chest as if in shock, but without much fear on his face, Tess glanced at her and pulled the still trance-stricken Naria closer to her.
She saw the wings. It was undoubtedly the wings of the ice dragon, bigger than she remembered.
"We need to find him!" Nalya wrenched free from Tess's arms, her eyes reddening slightly.
She first meets Is...... who has become a dragon He was big, bigger than she had imagined, but it was still Is, the boy who had called her sister, and she wouldn't allow anyone to hurt him!
"You want to find the dragon? That's not a good idea, it's obviously been captured by the dwarves, and maybe it's been killed......" Fili's voice weakened in Naria's angry gaze.
"Of course, sweetheart. "But we can't just rush on, even if the dwarves have something to do right now, they won't let us run around." We've got to go back and get something and get ready. A dragon doesn't die that easily, but if we're not careful, we'll die. β
She persuaded Nalia to go back to her room with her, and Fili followed them, and as Naria pulled out her sword and gathered up what she might need, Tess took something casually and slowly stepped back, grabbing Fili's coat as he was poking his head out of the doorway, dragging him aside.
"Paladin, or priest?" she asked, smiling and lowering her voice. Mochi peeked out of her bosom and bared out a mouthful of small, sharp white teeth.
qidian.
