Chapter 67: The Big Man
It looked like it was just a human, but it was extremely tall and strong, and Nalya was no longer short, but it was not yet the other's chest.
"It's personal. Naria turned back to comfort Tess, "Look, he has two eyes!"
Tess poked her head out from behind her and then retracted.
"Where can there be such a tall person!"
Narya thought for a moment, "Do you remember the men we met in Tap? Didn't they tell Ed that a tall barbarian-like guy had passed by, and he couldn't get by anyway." β
The tall creature let out a frustrated roar and stepped back, and the heavy and massive thud sounded again, this time because it was so close that both girls couldn't help but cover their ears and feel the rocks and ground around them shake with it.
Tess jumped out: "Stop! stupid! are you trying to smash this place down?"
Compared to the barbarians, the crumbling rocks are much more terrifying.
The man obediently stopped, approached the crevice again, stuck a large face in the crevice, and looked at them sadly.
β...... What's your name and where are you from?" asked Naria tentatively, if he was a barbarian, he might not understand her.
The man gestured his hand to his throat and let out a few muffled grunts.
"You can't speak?" Narya guessed.
The man nodded, his forehead slammed against the rock, and he made a bang, but he didn't even blink an eye.
"Are you the only one?" Tess finally stopped being scared, and she approached the crevice and looked up at the big man who seemed a little silly.
The big man looked aggrieved and gestured again, but most of it was blocked by the rocks, and Tess didn't see anything.
Tess glanced back at Naria, and her eyes were already full of sympathy.
"It's possible that he's with the guys who captured us. Tess had to remind her. Whether it's Ed or Naria, these two guys are too easy to trust others.
"But he was obviously left behind," said Naria, "and he must have been tricked, and by his eyes he didn't look like a bad guy at all." β
The big man was still glaring at them, and he had a pair of blue-green eyes that were innocent like children'sβthere was a hint of confusion in his innocence, and it seemed that there was something wrong with his brain.
Tess shook her head and said solemnly, "I don't look like a bad person, but I'm bad!"
Naria laughed out loud. The red-haired girl always tries in every possible way to prove that she is not a good person, just as that is a necessary achievement for a thief. Naria admits that she doesn't have enough experience, but she is still quite confident in her own eyes.
Tess sighed, grabbed Mochi from her arms, held it in her palm, and held it at the man on the other side of the rock.
"Xiao Mo, Xiao Mo, is that a bad guy? If so, go over and bite him!"
Mochi scratched his ass and looked back at her blankly.
A large hand suddenly reached out from the crevice, and the big man was obviously curious about the little fluffy thing.
The frightened Mochi did not hesitate to bite on his thumb, but the owner of the hand did not seem to feel anything, and only scratched the soft belly of the mongoose with his index finger and let out a laugh.
Mochi let go of his mouth in confusion, chirped twice, and before Tess could stop him, he jumped on the big hand and ran along his arm to the other side.
"Little Mo!" Tess screamed, "Don't eat my Little Mo!"
The big face left the crevice, and Tess leaned over worriedly, listening to the strange laughter of snoring and the chirping of Mo, and in a few moments Mochi slipped back, jumped on her shoulder, and ran his hair through his paws, looking to be having a good time.
The big man's face reappeared on the other side of the crevice, his gaze reluctantly glued to Mochi.
"Look, he's not a bad guy. Naria said with a smile.
"So what?" said Tess flicking the little traitor's finger in exasperation, "we can't even squeeze through this slit, and he won't even want to come over." β
"Maybe we can find him a way to get there, and the roads here are all connected. Naria suggested.
"Then it's better to let him just smash this place as soon as possible. Tess blurted out without thinking.
The big man's eyes lit up, and the tapping soon rang out again.
"Oh, that fool!" exclaimed Tess.
Narya grabbed Tess who tried to stop him, "It's not going to fall down here." The dwarves have been knocking on it for hundreds of years, haven't they?"
"I'm not sure the way he strikes!" said Tess, reluctantly pulling out a dagger with a strange shape, more like an iron cone, and throwing it over.
"Use this as a chisel...... Do you understand what a chisel is? Find a crack in the rock, stick the dagger in, and hit the other end of the dagger with your sledgehammer -- don't push too hard! If you break my dagger, I'll ...... Gouge out your eyes!" she said viciously.
When another knock sounded, she nodded, stepped back and sat down on the floor, frowned and pulled out two corks to plug her ears, then took out another piece of bread, broke it in half, and threw half of it to Naria.
Naria grabbed the bread and walked over to the crevice.
"Hey!" she cried, "are you hungry?"
The big face immediately leaned over and stared at her with bright eyes, and Naria smiled as she shoved the bread over and watched it quickly disappear into the big mouth.
"Tess, do you have anything to eat?" asked Narya, looking back.
Tess really wanted to pretend she didn't hear, but she couldn't stand the expectant look in the eyes, one big and one small, and sighed and felt a large piece of jerky from nowhere, and threw it hard.
"That's all!" she cried, munching on her bread.
Naria took the jerky and stuffed it through, and soon, a small piece that had been torn off was stuffed back.
Naria walked back to Tess and showed off the thin piece of flesh to her, "Look, he's not stupid at all, and he's really not bad. β
Tess rolled her eyes in resignation, snatched the meat from Naria's hand and stuffed it all into her mouth, took out another piece of bread, and threw it to the innocent, kind, unworldly brunette girl without saying a word.
They sat side by side, taking turns toasting the cold, hard bread with torches and their equally cold hands, listening to the sound of the resounding knocking and the occasional sound of gravel falling to the ground.
It was only when Tess was almost asleep that she heard a cheer from Naria and jumped.
She opened her eyes and saw that the big man was squeezing through the gap that he had carved a lot, and his big angular face was red and twisted from the exertion, and it looked a little hideous.
Tess scrambled to her feet, smiling and clenching the knife that slipped down her sleeve.
