Chapter 111: Salutation

"Look at this cave is a circle. "With the faint light, I carefully analyzed and came to this conclusion.

I gritted my teeth and made a decision: since I couldn't find my way back, I might as well move forward and get to the location of the cave just now. By the way, you can also go to the marked spots.

Walking around in a dark cave is much more difficult than I imagined, but fortunately I can now use my ears to assist my eyes in the dark, and the air in the cave is abundant, which means that Qianfang is not a dead end.

Suddenly, my eyes were stung by the flash of light in front of me. What is it?

I ran over quickly, thinking to myself that this should be the location of the marker, and it seemed that there was a treasure.

But when I got there, I found no treasure, no stump like the one I had just had.

"Strange!" I saw the treasure light that only antiques emitted just now, why did it disappear in a flash. I wondered as I sat down on a rock.

Qing Confucius asked Lao Tzutu. These words popped into my head.

Where is it? I'm so surprised I don't see this picture. I couldn't help but look around, and finally I focused on what was in front of me.

It's a mural! I exclaimed, my whole body tense, wanting to discover the secret of the mural.

"Whew", the story in the mural appeared in my mind.

In 535 B.C., Confucius was 17 years old, it was a young man, and he was buried with Lao Tzu in the Ludi Lane Party, which was the first time Confucius saw Lao Tzu and asked Lao Tzu for advice on the funeral.

Around the sixth year of Lu Zhaogong, Lao Tzu was dismissed from his post as a Tibetan official, so he used his free time to travel around, and when he traveled to the present-day Shandong region, it happened that one of his friends who lived in the Xiangdang died.

Lao Tzu heard that there was a local young man named Kong Qiu who was diligent and studious and studied Zhou etiquette, so he invited the young Confucius to help him preside over his friend's funeral.

With the cooperation of the two, the funeral went on in an orderly manner.

Unfortunately, on the day of the funeral, it was a solar eclipse, and the funeral procession walked, but the sun was gradually obscured by black shadows, and the sky became darker and darker. Confucius looked up, ignoring all this, and still led the people to carry the coffin forward.

Suddenly, Lao Tzu shouted loudly from behind: "Stop advancing!", Confucius couldn't help but be stunned, not knowing why Lao Tzu was like this.

Lao Tzu hurried to the front of the procession, told everyone to stand on their right, and stopped crying, until the eclipse was over and the sun shone on the earth again.

After the funeral, Confucius asked Lao Tzu about his doubts, he thought that stopping the coffin in the middle of the coffin was not in line with the Zhou etiquette, and it was not known how long the eclipse would occur, and that the coffin would stay too long would make the deceased uneasy, so it was right to move on.

Lao Tzu smiled after hearing this: "You only know one thing, but you don't know the other." According to the weekly rites, in order not to miss the auspicious time, the funeral is indeed as soon as possible. However, it is also necessary to deal with specific problems on a case-by-case basis, and if it is not fast, it should not be fast, and if it is not fast, it cannot be blindly fast."

"In the past, the princes rushed to the capital from other places to meet the Son of Heaven, and they traveled at sunrise and rested at sunset; The same goes for funerals, which do not go out before sunrise and do not stay after sunset. The only people who rush at night with the stars in front of them are criminals who are running for the loss of their parents or who are on the run."

"Therefore, if we encounter a solar eclipse today, although it is daytime, but the stars have already appeared, and we still have to let people hurry at this time, don't we curse the mourners to wear sinful bodies or run for the funeral of their parents? ”

In 526 B.C., before the rebellion of the princely dynasty in the Zhou royal family, the then 26-year-old Confucius Shizhou specifically consulted Lao Tzu again on Zhou rites.

According to the "Historical Records" and "Confucius's Family Sayings", "Confucius said that Uncle Nangong Jing said, 'I heard that the old man is ancient and modern, the source of etiquette and music, and the return of the clear way, then my teacher is also'." ”

So, Confucius and Uncle Nangong Jing came to Luoyi to ask Lao Tzu for advice. This time, Confucius's questions were still focused on funerals.

Confucius asked, "Under what circumstances do the gods of the temples need to be invited?" Lao Tzu replied, "There are several situations." When the Son of Heaven or the princes died, the gods of each temple were invited to the temple by Taizhu, which was done to indicate that the ancestors gathered for the national funeral, which was a ritual provision. After the burial is finished and the funeral is completed, the gods of each temple are invited back to their respective temples. Lao Tzu particularly emphasized: "Whoever welcomes the god out of the temple or back to the temple, there must be a guard of honor, and idlers are not allowed to move." ”

Kong Qiu then asked, "Can a child aged 8 to 11 in the doctor's family use a coffin when he dies?" Lao Tzu replied: "In the past, when a child between the ages of 8 and 11 died, he was buried in the garden, not in the tomb, and without a coffin. "Even if you are buried in a field, you can't be buried in an ancestral grave, and you can't use a coffin. This custom is still practiced in some places today.

Confucius asked, "The great affairs of the state are sacrifices and wars. If a parent dies in the middle of a war, will the war be suspended or will the war continue?" Lao Tzu replied: "During the period of mourning for their parents, children are not allowed to fight. Under normal circumstances, one should not seriously serve the three-year mourning because of the greed for convenience. ”

When Confucius said goodbye to him with satisfaction, Lao Tzu sent Confucius out of the house and said to Confucius sincerely: "I have heard that rich people give money to others, and benevolent people with good character give good words to others. Let me give you a few words of advice: A person who thinks he is wise, who is good at talking about the strengths and weaknesses of others, who thinks that he knows deeply, is close to death. A truly wise person is not good at speaking, because he knows how to talk too much and lose more. A person who thinks he is knowledgeable and knows everything, and who always likes to reveal the privacy or wrongs of others, is already in danger. The truly wise are ignorant and ignorant, as if they were stupid. ”

The picture behind is getting blurrier and blurr, and I have returned to reality.

Sitting on the stone, I gasped for breath and thought to myself: "In the history of China's ideological and cultural development, Confucius and Lao Tzu are two representative and pioneering figures. As the founders of Confucianism and Taoism, they both lived in the late Spring and Autumn period, basically living in the same era, and many documents and archaeological sources confirm that Confucius paid homage to Lao Tzu many times. ”

This mural reflects the exchange and communication of Confucianism and Taoism. Confucianism and Taoism have the same origin and different currents, and the two cultures are inextricably linked and have many things in common, but due to different cultural propositions, two different styles of ideological and cultural development paths have emerged.
