Chapter 872: The Joy of Archaeology
Here Chen Jianghua took the plate and continued: "... I see that in terms of carcass and production process, these Tang blue and white plates are very similar to Tang Sancai, especially in the firing process, it is very likely to be the same as firing Tang Sancai, using the secondary firing method of firing the blank first, and then applying glaze and re-entering the kiln for firing.
A few years ago, I saw some information, in the 70s, the site of the Tang City in Yangzhou was carried out, and a lot of Tang blue and white remnants were unearthed, and many of them only have fragments.
Although it could not be pieced together, it still resolved the debate over whether blue and white porcelain first appeared in the Tang Dynasty or the Song Dynasty.
Later, Tang Qinghua was also found in Hangzhou and Luoyang, which is basically a fragment.
A few years ago, a research department analyzed the blue and white of the Tang Dynasty unearthed in Yangzhou, and deduced that the unearthed blue and white were likely to come from the Gongyi kiln of the Tang Dynasty.
In addition to these four plates, there is also a bowl with a flower pattern in the Boston Museum in the United States, and a fish algae pattern jar in the Copenhagen Museum in Denmark.
Mr. Zhang, if you think that these plates belong to Gongyi kiln, then they are from Gongyi kiln. ”
The last sentence is interesting: what you say is what you say!
Speaking of this, Chen Jianghua shrugged his shoulders, probably in the past two months, he mixed with a group of Western guys who didn't understand the language, and he learned it unconsciously.
When Zhang Nan heard this, he laughed: "I said Comrade Jiang Hua, you have learned the habits of the agricultural curator ten out of ten, haha!"
Or is it because: what you say is what you say!
In archaeology, it is very important to respect facts and history, but sometimes it is really like what Chen Jianghua said: what you say is what you say, and pragmatism can jump out and play majestic!
You must know that before 2016, there were still people who thought that the four blue and white bowls on the "Blackstone" were not made in China at all, but were products of the original Arab region!
Such a "high theory" did not go bankrupt until 2016 - when more than 50 Chinese and foreign ceramic experts jointly inspected the Tang Sancai kiln site in Gongyi, Henan Province, and reached a consensus after excavation: this kiln site was not only the production of Tang Sancai in the Tang Dynasty, but also the production area of blue and white porcelain.
Moreover, it is believed that blue and white porcelain and Tang Sancai are in the same line, and Tang blue and white should be developed and formed by the blue color in Tang Sancai.
Later, the Institute of High Energy Physics of Fudan University also used non-destructive proton excitation X-ray fluorescence technology to conduct chemical tests on the Tang blue and white porcelain unearthed in Yangzhou and the pottery blue glaze pieces fired by the Gongyi Huangye Tang Sancai kiln, and found that the composition of the two was completely identical, and it was certain that the Gongyi Huangye kiln was the kiln site for firing Tang blue and white porcelain.
Archaeology is like this, different opinions will always jump out, even after Gongyiyao's "unanimous opinion" comes out, there will still be criticism of Tang Qinghua in the circle.
Zhang Nan will say that these four plates are the legendary Tang Qinghua, and there will still be people who jump out to say irresponsible things in the future, but Zhang Nan doesn't care at all - playing antiques, this kind of disagreement is one of the funs.
If the objection sounds uncomfortable, then ignore it, don't go to the ring, or you will be too tired!
The earliest blue and white porcelain Zhang Nan has seen in his last life is Song Qinghua, a blue and white bowl dug up from the tomb of Zhou Rushi, the main book of Song Taichang Temple in Yan County: non-tomb robbery, rescue archaeological excavation of the Cultural Management Committee, and I went to join in the fun.
Truth be told, when any technology is first created, it's not that high.
The appearance quality of Song Qinghua looks like it has a fight with some shoddy kilns in the Qing Dynasty, as for this Tang Qinghua, the same is true for this Tang Qinghua, the thickness of the porcelain and glaze water of the four plates is irregular, looking seven high and eight low.
But just because they are Tang Qinghua, they are very precious in Chen Jianghua's eyes!
How does that look in Zhang Nan's eyes?
Using Yue kiln celadon as an analogy, today's Zhang Nan can only look at the secret color porcelain grade Yue kiln produced during the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, as for the original Yue kiln in the Eastern Han Dynasty......
Can't afford it!
This Tang blue and white porcelain is also a similar reason, but the blue and white porcelain image is huge, so I took a look at these four plates, but I definitely didn't treat them as any particularly important treasures, which is also the biggest difference between myself and a museum researcher like Chen Jianghua.
……
There is also a small shelf in this container warehouse, and after the plates are put back in the bucket, Chen Jianghua grabbed a towel, wiped his hands, and opened a crate on the shelf.
There were a lot of confetti and cloth bags in it.
After opening the box, Chen Jianghua said to Zhang Nan: "A total of 42 pieces of gold and silverware, all of which were originally hidden in the mezzanine of the shipwreck's ground cabin, and each piece was a fine product.
All of them were popular styles in the Tang Dynasty, and with a large number of bronze mirrors and domestic archaeological references found at the same time, it can be preliminarily concluded that they were produced in Yangzhou.
Historical records record that during the Tang Dynasty, Yangzhou was not only a gold and silver manufacturing center, but also a distribution center, which can prove that the gold and silver ware in Yangzhou was not only dedicated to the Tang Dynasty royal family, but also used for export. ”
Zhang Nan turned over the east and west, there was a gold-belted eight-sided Hu musician cup, and there was a singing and dancing Hu man holding a musical instrument on each side, without Chen Jianghua's interpretation, Zhang Nan felt that this cup was similar to a pair of gold cups unearthed in Hejia Village a few years ago.
It mainly appears in northern China, and I didn't expect to run the equator this time!
There are also a number of silver boxes here, all of which are petal-shaped, the overall shape is like flowers or clouds, and the pattern is entangled branches and vines, birds and beasts, and similar artifacts are found in the unearthed artifacts of the Tang Dynasty.
Zhang Nan's favorite is a square gold plate with superb workmanship, and the plate is also carved with an intricate "swastika" pattern in the center.
The artifacts with Buddhist symbols on ships in the Arabian Sea are also very interesting.
Chen Jianghua has a record book in his hand, on which more than 56,000 pieces of Changsha kiln porcelain are recorded, the most of which are bowls, followed by pots. There are also cups, plates, bowls, boxes, pots, smokers, oil lamps and zodiac porcelain sculptures.
Even the porcelain bowl with the inscription "July 16 of the second year of the treasure calendar" was found by him, and it would be stored separately.
The porcelain bowl with the inscription "Hu-Nandao Caoshi Shizhu Mencius has a famous Fan Jiaji" is also stored separately, which can be deduced from the original "logistics procedure", you must know that according to the records, this "grass market" is a formal trade market in the Tang Dynasty.
There are also 200 pieces of Yue kiln celadon produced in Jiangnan Province, 350 pieces of northern white porcelain, 200 pieces of northern white glazed green color ceramics and more than 700 pieces of rough celadon fired in local kilns in Guangdong Province.
It can be seen from here that Chen Jianghua must have done a lot of work in the past two months, because there are two white glazed green color bowls and plates engraved with the words "Ying" and "Jinfeng" respectively in the center of the bottom foot, which he picked out.
"This 'Ying' character porcelain has been unearthed several times in China before, in Beihe Province Qiuchengguan Xingyao ruins have found more than 20 pieces of engraved 'Ying' word bowl bottom specimens, in Chang'an Daming Palace site has also unearthed the same 'Ying' word carved bowl bottom.
Also, in the fifth year of Tang Xiantong in Beiheyi County, that is, in 864, the tomb of Sun Shaoju also unearthed the white porcelain note with the word "Ying".
Tang Chang'an Ximing Temple, Qinglong Temple and other places unearthed 'Ying' character white porcelain.
These domestic unearthed 'Ying' porcelain era is the middle and late Tang Dynasty, and this bowl is contemporary, and it is generally believed that they are Hebei Xingyao products, originally for the Tang Dynasty royal family Daying library burning.
Needless to say, this 'Jinfeng' engraving is exclusively for the royal family.
The unusual situation of this Arab merchant ship is likely to have carried diplomatic envoys or diplomatic missions, and on the way back it carried some of the equipment allocated by the Royal Treasury as a state gift.
At this point, Zhang Nan wanted to sing a little counter-tone, and said to Chen Jianghua: "Those gold and silver utensils are not necessarily exported, but may also be gifts to the diplomatic corps." ”
Chen Jianghua smiled, "It's possible, there is no clear written record, these can only rely on speculation, left can also do, right can also do." ”
Zhang Nan has no objection to this, antiques, cultural relics, archaeology, this is also one of the fun of playing this.
Out of the container, Captain Philip was about to return to the yacht, and Zhang Nan also got off the freighter together.
Two ships are about to switch anchorages, and there are two shipwrecks waiting for their own people to explore.
