Chapter Thirty-Six: An Extraordinary Sunday
Another Sunday is coming.
For those recruits who have nothing to do, Sunday is a good day to rest, but it is also a day they don't know how to pass. Everyone's clothes and other things are washed on Saturdays, and on Sundays, there is neither political study nor military training, and everyone is free to move, but there is a rule that they cannot leave the camp of the recruit company without authorization, and at most they can only walk around the camp.
Recruits who love sports can find their own arrangements, whether they go to play on the court, or go for a run, or throw the horizontal bar or something. Most recruits can sit down during this time and write letters to their families, or go to the company headquarters to find letters sent from home.
On Saturday, Chen Hansheng took care of all his personal affairs, and he will start learning to recognize staves on this Sunday. Therefore, this Sunday is a very precious day for him.
When Chen Hansheng bought this book "How to Know the Five Lines", he couldn't help but read it several times, and initially knew that the five lines were actually not much different from the simple notation, but the way of recording was completely different, one was to use Arabic numerals, the other was to use the unified kind of tadpole marking, one was to divide the high and low tones by the difference between numbers and the position of the dots, and the other was to divide the high and low tones by the difference between the high and low of the five lines.
However, there are some details that Chen Hansheng is not very clear, and he wants to use this Sunday to ask the Wuhan recruit for advice. It's a pity that the Wuhan recruit was not assigned to Chen Hansheng's class, and it was not very convenient for Chen Hansheng to find him.
As soon as he finished breakfast, Chen Hansheng came to the class of the Wuhan recruit.
There was not a single recruit in the squad, only the squad leader sat there reading a book.
Chen Hansheng asked the squad leader, "Where is the violin-playing recruit?"
The squad leader looked at Chen Hansheng and asked, "Do you have something to do with him?"
"I want to ask him to teach me how to read staves. Chen Hansheng directly said his thoughts.
"Do you want to learn to play the violin too?" The squad leader looked at him a little curiously, as if telling Chen Hansheng that this is not something you can learn if you want to, freezing three feet is not a day's work, but people have been learning it at home for many years!
Chen Hansheng nodded, which meant both recognition and firmness.
"Go find him by the river!" said the squad leader, "and he has gone out with the violin, and wherever there is a sound, you can find it." ”
Chen Hansheng nodded happily and gratefully, and then took the book "How to Know the Staves" and went to the river.
Before they reached the river, the sound of the harp sounded.
Chen Hansheng followed the sound of the piano and found the Wuhan recruit who was playing the piano.
Wuhan recruits just started to play the violin, although he saw Chen Hansheng, but he couldn't let go of a solo piece he was playing, until he finished playing the piece, he put down his violin, looked at Chen Hansheng, and asked, "Why are you here?"
"I want to learn to play the violin!" Chen Hansheng said bluntly.
"Do you want to learn?" the Wuhan recruit looked at the seemingly inconspicuous recruit in front of him scrutinically, and said, "Do you know how to read staves?"
"Not yet. Chen Hansheng shook his head and said, "However, I have already bought a book like this and want to ask you to teach me, okay?"
Chen Hansheng said, and handed the book "How to Know the Staves" to the Wuhan recruits.
The Wuhan recruit looked at Chen Hansheng with a little surprise, although he had this hunch, he really didn't expect this inconspicuous recruit to really want to learn to play the violin.
"Is it okay?" Chen Hansheng asked tentatively.
"Yes, yes," said the Wuhan recruit, "but learning to play the violin is a very difficult thing, and it is even more difficult and uncomfortable for him than to learn other instruments." Besides, this is not something that can be learned in a year and a half, it has to be persisted for a long time, can you do it? Can you persevere?"
"I can!" Chen Hansheng said firmly.
When the Wuhan recruits didn't know how to answer, a voice suddenly appeared, "You just accept this apprentice!"
Chen Hansheng and the Wuhan recruit turned their heads at the same time to see that this person was none other than the senior instructor of the recruit company!
Instructor Gao smiled and said to the Wuhan recruit, "The love of literature and art is also the glorious tradition of our army!
He turned back to Chen Hansheng and asked, "Do you know him?"
"Acquaintance!" Chen Hansheng said.
"Do you know what his last name is?" asked Instructor Gao.
"I don't know. Chen Hansheng shook his head and said.
"That's not good!" Instructor Gao said with a smile, "If you want to learn art, you have to learn from others! You don't even know what people's surnames are, so you want to ask someone to teach you how to play the piano, this is too uneducated, right? I heard that you have been an apprentice at home, why don't you understand these rules?"
Chen Hansheng was very embarrassed by Instructor Gao, in fact, he really wanted to know what the surname of this Wuhan recruit was, so that he could better call people, but he was embarrassed to ask this if they didn't tell him.
"His surname is Liu, and his name is Liu Hongbing!" Instructor Gao took the initiative to introduce, "His little violin is playing well, tonight's recruit company party, I will name him to perform! You will worship him as a teacher and call him Master Liu!"
"Master Liu!" Chen Hansheng hurriedly shouted.
Liu Hongbing replied with a smile and said, "The matter of apprenticeship will be spared! It's okay to call me Liu Hongbing! However, if you really want to learn to play the violin, you must be mentally prepared to endure hardships for a long time! Otherwise, you won't be able to learn!"
"I can!" replied Chen Hansheng resoundingly.
Instructor Gao smiled and said to Liu Hongbing, "This apprentice, even if you accept it! Tonight's recruit party, you have to show your hand to everyone! I want to contribute to this recruit company and more talents!"
Liu Hongbing was very happy when he heard that he was going to show in the evening and accept Chen Hansheng as an apprentice, so he immediately put down the violin and began to teach Chen to recognize staves, and let Chen Hansheng know the details that he didn't understand.
Just after dinner, the company blew the whistle for assembly. The recruits, who didn't know it, thought that they were going to have some kind of emergency assembly, and suddenly became nervous, and some even relaxed their preparations because of Sunday, and they didn't have time to deal with it.
The team gathered in a large room, the recruits formed a circle, and the party began.
Liu Hongbing played a violin solo piece of "The Iron Tree Bloomed for a Thousand Years", which won the applause of the audience!
Instructor Gao deliberately prompted, "Do you want to do another song?"
All the recruits immediately responded, "Yes!"
Liu Hongbing came to another song "The Glory of the Red Sun Shines on the Hearth".
After the performance, the audience was still immersed in that wonderful musical feeling, until the senior instructor took the lead in applauding, and the audience once again burst into thunderous applause.
The beautiful sound of the piano, the superb performance, and the warm applause, as well as the care of the chief and the preaching of his comrades-in-arms, left a very deep and special impression on Chen Hansheng on this special Sunday. This impression has always influenced Chen Hansheng, and made Chen Hansheng take this as his life pursuit in the future.
