Chapter 176: In the Name of Ion

What kind of organization is Sarkic in the fantasy literature of SCP Foundation?

It's hard to say what makes a good impression.

After all, it has such a name, and the words that combine "desire" and "meat" are difficult to give people a direct good feeling.

Compared to the Church of the Broken God, which is also a fictional religion, the first impression of "Sarkicism" is often that it is a "villain".

- Human experiments, biological modifications, evil rituals...... That's the kind of stuff anyway.

But just as cults never name themselves "XX cults," the term "Sarkic" is not a self-proclaimed name for Sarkicists.

The term was actually a pejorative name given to the ancient Mekhanites, the forerunner of the Church of the Broken God, and was only later widely used by the Foundation and other organizations.

And the real ones call their belief system "Nälkä", a word from the Old Urals word meaning "hunger".

The hunger for power, for the supernatural, this is the core belief of Sarkicism.

Like other religions, Sarkicists have their own system of gods.

- Važjuma, Yadabrath, described as a destroyer and unintentional creator who "feeds" on gods and stars and "spits out life."

But they did not believe in this god, but in the founder of the sect: the great karcist "Ion", who took the divine power of Adaboth in a human body.

They aspire to transcend mortal power, believe that humans can ascend to the status of gods, and see the path Ion has traveled as a path to a successful usurpation of divine power.

They believe that there are many gods in the universe, but they do not believe in them, but want to continue to devour the flesh of these gods to gain their power.

They liberate their desires, revere sickness, tolerate sacrifice, and believe that they will lead the path of flesh and blood to the ultimate godhood.

With the development and change of the times, Sarkicism has gradually divided into two schools: "original Sarkic" and "new Sarkic".

The former are mostly closed, hostile to outsiders, technophobic, superstitious and self-sacrificing, closer to religion in the traditional sense.

The latter is relatively open, tolerant of modernity, and is generally passed down from wealthy families, with the aim of becoming a "god" like Ion.

It can be said that if we put aside the skin of flesh and blood and judge only by internal thoughts, Sarkicism is actually a progressive religion that favors the elevation of humanity itself.

- is the means of this ascension...... It's really unacceptable to normal people.

The reason why the Church of the Broken God is hostile to Sarkicism is also simple.

When the ancient Mekhanite first encountered the Sarkics, those who were full of thoughts about "flesh and blood" seemed to them too similar to the "Enemy of Doom" prophesied by the Mekhanite mythology.

Therefore, the Mekhanite Sect has since established each other as its mortal enemies, and it is destined to fight to the death in the apocalypse.

In the case of Sarkicism, Mekhanites are just a bunch of religious lunatics who don't know why they have to stand in the way of their ascension.

- Rivals? What enemies? I don't care what you believe, don't stand in my way.

Of course, from the standpoint of the Foundation and human organizations such as the GOC, neither sect is a good thing.

Occasionally doing something good, most of the time looking for something for them.

The Horizon Initiative, one of the triumvirate of fellow organizations of the SCP worldview, is completely hostile to belief in machines and sarkic.

After all, the Horizon Initiative was jointly founded by the Abrahamic sect, and they themselves are constantly at odds with each other, and they don't like the whole crowd of heretical cults outside.

The Sarkic cult has developed into a modern era and has gone further and further down the path of biological transformation, but looking back at history, their birth and origin are closely related to another civilization that has declined in time.

Yes, it is the Daevite civilization.

Around 1800 BC, when the Daevite civilization was still at its peak, Ion was born in this era.

He was a mixed Daevite female and foreigner, and had been a slave since birth.

Because of his intelligence, Ion was not used in battle or labor, but instead became a servant of an alchemist or a priestess of the Daevite.

During that time of secrecy, Ion seized the power of Adaproth, used the body of the "God Eater" as a kind of shield, and carved out a kingdom within his body.

With this power, he sparked a slave revolt in northern Siberia against the Daevite civilization.

The rebel army marched all the way south, breaking the Matriarch rule of the Daevite civilization.

The Sarkic civilization was born, while the Daevite civilization declined.

Ion's religion arose during the war, and four saints from the Daevite civilization followed in his footsteps, becoming revered "saints" in Sarkicism for later generations.

They are-

Nadox, a wise man who was once sought after by the poor and sentenced to tongue cutting and castration by the Daevites for preaching peace and equality, traveled north to seek salvation from the existence of "suffering and tears" and became a follower of Ion.

Lavata, the daughter of the Daevite matriarch and priestess, was initially at odds with Ion, but gradually fell victim to his charm during the battle, sending waves of slave hunters to capture Ion and take her as a mate. Eventually, Ion approached him, and they "bonded" and left together.

Orok, the product of Daevite's alchemical and thaumaturgical experiments with slaves, possessed inhuman physical powers, and was once the matriarch of the inner sanctum of Jel, who chose to betray Ion when he confronted his master, and chose to follow Ion after killing the matriarch.

Saan, a former servant of the Daevite nobles, suffered from a long period of abuse from the Daevites, and when she couldn't bear it anymore, she killed her master's entire family with poison, a noose, and a dagger. Meet Ion in a prison awaiting execution, and set up a network of spies and assassins for him.

The rise and fall of civilizations has been restored little by little in Foundation investigations and records, though most of them are still speculative.

Much of the truth has been lost, and many more events have been recorded in Sarkic mythological texts, making it impossible to tell whether this is real history or processed mythology.

This central page is merely an introduction, from the perspective of Foundation scholars, outlining the information they have found in various literatures.

If you want to know more, you can also check out the relevant project documentation.

Or piece it together yourself based on the details.

Even...... In the absence of more narratives, I can only take the only information I have and compile it directly.

Ren Jiyuan: It's so hard to think about "............

And even if you write about anomalous civilizations, such a long fictional history also involves many supernatural and anti-ethical plots.

I'm afraid this book is going to rub wildly on the edge of harmony.

Never mind......

The direction I chose, and I had to finish it while crying.

I finally got the undisclosed information from the administrator, and it would be too much of a loss not to write it out.

Ren Jiyuan walked around his room, found a blank notebook that he didn't know from nowhere, cheered up, and began to tidy up.

Make a schedule first, and then draw a relationship diagram, in order to write a spell!
