The Pokémon League is a small machine set up in the battle arena. Usually about half a person tall, there are grooves for inserting Pokédex or ID cards, and some special occasions are equipped with miniature recorders that are easy to carry.

All matches that have been officially certified by the Pokémon League, such as gym battles, regional leagues, or regular small ring matches, have a battle recorder next to the battle field. Before the battle, the trainer needs to insert the illustrated book or ID card into the recorder to scan it to verify his identity, and after the battle, he scan it again, and the staff will enter the information about the battle, and the results of the battle will be recorded in the archive.

The battle record information usually includes the following information: the time, place, venue, name of the match, the identities of the two participants, and the Pokémon they played. Some of the more important matches will automatically upload a video of the game.

This step is usually mandatory, and those who refuse to enter the information will be immediately disqualified. Only wild challenges or informal small-scale competitions do not require registration, but most of these competitions are low-level and have small prize money, so the vast majority of trainers are happy to participate in various competitions sponsored by the government.

After completing the above procedures, the prize money obtained from the battle will be credited to the personal account bound to the ID card, and the penalty for defeat will be automatically credited. Additional prizes are usually given out on-site or couriered to the default address set by the trainer.

Matches recorded by the Battle Recorder will be used as the basis for the ranking of the [World Trainer Ranking].

In the personal information column of the Pokémon Illustrated Book, there is a screen called "Match History", where you can view the records of all the official matches you have participated in since becoming a trainer, which has a similar meaning to a diary for trainers.

The champions of each region who enter the Hall of Champions will leave their resumes of the races before becoming champions. As a result, the match history recorded by the Battle Recorder is referred to by some trainers as the "Glory Journey".
