There are many small Buddha statues around the top floor of the three-story Buddhist shrine at the corner line, and it is the smallest Buddha statue in Yungang, only two centimeters high, also known as "pocket Buddha".

Cave 12 is called the Music Cave, the top is carved with many tricks and lottes, holding a variety of different musical instruments, the 13th Cave Maitreya Bodhisattva's right arm carved a wrestler, both produced a mechanical effect, and has a decorative effect, can be called a miracle in the history of world architecture.

In the middle of the 13th cave sits a cross-legged Maitreya Buddha statue, cross-legged Maitreya wrist below the carved a mechanical role of the arm wrestler, this is the only example of Yungang Grottoes. This arm-holding statue is 1.8 meters tall, with cascading clothes, flowing clothes and flying ribbons. The statue of the Seven Buddhas in the upper part of the arch of the south wall is also exquisitely carved and decorated, and the posture is elegant.

What impressed Dongfang Xiaofei the most was Cave 16 to Cave 20.

Caves 16 to 20 are known as the five caves of Tanyao, which were dug by the high monk Tan Yao of the Northern Wei Dynasty, and have the legacy of Buddhism in Liangzhou and Qiuci, and are full of vigorous and simple style of the Western Regions. The rulers of the Northern Wei Dynasty believed that they could become Buddhas in the next life, and that heaven and earth would be honored for all eternity. The five caves of Tanyao represent the monarchs of the Northern Wei Dynasty, such as Emperor Daowu, Emperor Ming Yuan, Emperor Taiwu, Emperor Jingmu and Emperor Wencheng, and the caves also fully embody the royal style and dignity, and its modeling design is tall and majestic, and the momentum is extraordinary.

And the most magnificent of the "Tanyao Five Caves" that can represent the highest art of Yungang Grottoes is the open-air Buddha. The open-air Buddha is not the highest in the Yungang Grottoes, but it perfectly integrates the three cultural elements of India, Persia and China with its majestic posture, serene demeanor, mysterious smile, leisurely and calm attitude, on the basis of traditional Chinese carving art. This Buddha statue has a plump face, broad shoulders, majestic shape, and strong spirit, which is the representative work of Yungang Grottoes carving art, and can also be said to represent the peak of human art.
