In 2017, BOE swiped the screen industry due to the adjustment of Apple's supply chain, and the former "money burning king" and "endurance of humiliation" finally won the pride step by step. This company, which is "burdened with the heavy task of planting flower panels to catch up with Japan and South Korea", has a meaning that is far higher than the value of business logic. And behind its counterattack is a history of industrial conspiracy, a history of blood and tears of the Red Empire.

I want to explain here that this is a story of the combination of people and the country, the people of BOE, and the support of the country, both of which are indispensable!

In terms of integrated circuits, some people say that only the country can succeed, but in reality, there are many naked examples that tell us that sometimes the country will not succeed if it does, and even the whole country will not support it!

The island country and the bay province have memory, which is a bright example!

Wanwan, one of the four little tigers, at the turn of the century, the strength is no worse than South Korea, and even their management god Formosa Plastics Wang Yongqing has ended, but in the memory industry, they are still a failure, 50 billion US dollars of investment, a chicken feather!

Back to the point:

As the world's largest manufacturer of CRT and LCD TVs, China has a painful lesson in the history of the development of the display industry. Before 2010, friends who know about China's electronics industry know one word - "lack of core and less screen", the core is the chip, and the screen is the display screen.

In 2004, when the world's TV industry changed from the traditional CRT (picture tube) display to the new flat panel display such as liquid crystal and plasma, the color TV industry was once again eliminated. So far, since the 80s of the last century, the flower growers have adopted the "market for technology" and "joint ventures", and other policies to develop the car, color TV, and integrated circuit industries, almost all of which have failed, and none of them can get rid of the dependence on the introduction of technology, forming independent technical capabilities, and becoming a shame for the development of the flower industry.

With the continuous growth of China's LCD TV production capacity,The embarrassing situation that the core components of the industry are controlled by others,It has seriously threatened the safety of the TV industry。

Since LCD panels account for 2/3 of the cost of LCD TVs, domestic color TV manufacturers are forced to spend huge sums of money to purchase key components such as LCD panels from manufacturers in South Korea, Wanwan, and island countries. Taking 2010 as an example, the import value of LCD panels in that year exceeded 46 billion US dollars, second only to integrated circuits (156.9 billion US dollars), oil (135.1 billion US dollars) and iron ore (79.4 billion US dollars).

From 1998 to 2008, Japanese and South Korean flat-panel TV manufacturers, Wanwan enterprises, "embrace the screen and self-respect", wantonly erode the market share of the color TV of the flower planter, and carry out a strict LCD technology blockade on the flower planting enterprises, and the flower industry can only "kneel" to survive. This situation did not come to an end until the global financial crisis in 2008, which led to the collapse of world LCD panel prices. In order to break through the industrial dilemma, since 2009, domestic LCD panel companies have expanded against the trend and started an industrial counterattack.

On August 25, 2009, Beijing BOE, a leading LCD panel enterprise in China, announced an investment of 28.03 billion yuan to build China's first 8.5 generation LCD panel production line. This move was like a thunderbolt, instantly crushing the technology and interest blockade alliance of foreign manufacturers. In less than 10 days after that, manufacturers such as the island country Sharp, South Korea's Samsung, LG, Wanwan Chimei, Quanta, etc., have announced that they will abandon the blockade strategy and build a high-generation LCD panel production line on the mainland of the plantation family.

Behind this LCD frenzy, there is a life-and-death competition between LCD panel manufacturers and foreign-funded manufacturers. Whoever can take the lead in filling the market demand of flower growers will become the hegemon of the industry, and the loser will only have a way to decline. Import tariffs will lead to the import of LCD panels in South Korea, island countries, and Wanwan, completely losing the competitiveness of the flower planter market. This is the fundamental reason why foreign-funded manufacturers instantly reversed their blockade attitude and rushed to set up factories in China.

Wanwan LCD screen stabbing incident:

After the outbreak of the global financial crisis, Wanwan LCD manufacturers were on the verge of stopping production. From January to June 2009, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council came forward to organize nine major color TV manufacturers to purchase LCD panels in Wanwan for two consecutive times, with a total amount of up to 4.4 billion US dollars and a total of more than 12 million pieces, which pulled Wanwan LCD panel enterprises out of the quagmire of the financial crisis. And the reward for mainland enterprises is to be stabbed in the back by Wanwan people.

Since February 2009, South Korean companies have purchased 4 million pieces of inventory from Wanwan Quanta and Chi Mei in cash, and signed a purchase agreement for 2009. This behavior of controlling the supply of the market immediately made the mainland panel seriously in short supply. At the same time, South Korean companies reduced the export volume of liquid crystal to China and began to increase prices. From March to August 2009, the increase reached more than 30%, which led to the predicament of the color TV company again. Wanwan enterprises sit back and watch this situation, follow up to control output, and make great profits.

In a word, the color TV company at that time was kneeling to survive, and when you send money to buy things, you have to look at other people's faces and listen to other people's nasal voices.

The global financial turmoil has triggered changes in the industry

In the second half of 2008, the global financial crisis hit the TFT industry again, causing it to fall into recession after prematurely interrupting the economy that had started in 2007. But history tells us that this period of recession has provided an opportunity for latecomers to enter the market. This is the enterprise of the Continent of Flowers.

After the outbreak of the global financial crisis, South Korea's Samsung and LG successively slowed down and stopped the construction of the 8th generation line. Although the island countries occupy an important position in the upstream of the industrial chain (equipment and raw materials), most of the major mass production manufacturers have stopped expanding. NEC, the first company to establish a mass production line, announced its withdrawal from the LCD industry in February 2004, while Sony chose to build a joint venture with Samsung. Only Sharp is still competing with South Korean companies on the high-generation production line. In November 2007, Sharp started construction of the world's first 10th generation line (2880×3130mm glass substrate). However, due to the financial crisis, Sharp lost $1.3 billion in fiscal 2008. It was Sharp's first loss since it was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 1956.

Although the TFT industry in the Wanwan region is large (second only to South Korea), it has exposed its Achilles' heel during the global financial crisis - Wanwan does not have a large amount of demand from local downstream industries (terminals such as computers and televisions) like island countries and South Korea, and must rely on purchases from Japan, South Korea and the mainland of flower growers. In the case of sluggish global demand, in August 2008, Sony, Samsung, LG and other Japanese and South Korean companies canceled their previous orders for panels in the Wanwan area and switched to their own supply. This directly led to the operating rate of panel enterprises in the bay area falling to 4 percent, almost on the verge of death. At the same time, AUO and Chimei have postponed the mass production of the 7.5 and 8.5 generation lines under construction, and have begun to put employees who have stopped production on unpaid leave.

After the outbreak of the global financial crisis, there is only one country in the world where the demand for LCD panels is growing - that is, the flower market. In this case, the government of the flower planter ignored the previous suspicions, continuously sent procurement delegations to Wanwan Province and signed a panel purchase order of 4.4 billion US dollars, dragging Wanwan enterprises out of the abyss.

In terms of restricting the development of the LCD industry in the flower planter, Wanwan and the island country are the most insidious and vicious roles. Behind the mainland's efforts to Wanwan is to hope that Wanwan panel companies can set up factories in the mainland, or open up mainland enterprises to participate in mergers and acquisitions of Wanwan panel enterprises. However, on June 30, 2009, Wanwan announced the latest mainland investment policy, prohibiting mainland enterprises from investing in Wanwan panels, and at the same time restricting Wanwan panel enterprises from investing in the mainland. It was not until August of that year that BOE announced the construction of the 8.5 generation line, and Wanwan reluctantly announced on February 9, 2010 that it agreed to allow panel companies on the island to invest in the high-generation line in the mainland, and required that it must maintain a technical gap of more than one generation with Wanwan Island. In addition to this discriminatory policy, Wanwan manufacturers also collude with Japanese and South Korean manufacturers to continue to manipulate the price of LCD panels and erode the interests of flower manufacturers; And continue to infiltrate the LCD panel industry of the flower planter, in a vain attempt to gain a controlling position. This kind of wolf-hearted behavior is despised.

Thanks BOE, finally, look forward to the final fate of those people!

I wait, and death waits!
