Chapter 894: One More Insurance!

Yang Jie also tried several times after entering a few of his fingerprints on the mobile phone prototype, and even unlocked his fingers after getting his fingers wet, basically opening them in seconds.

Tao Zhijie of course knows that his boss attaches great importance to the experimental experience, and when developing this fingerprint recognition system, he thought of many problems that the fingerprint recognition system would encounter in advance, and this fingerprint recognition system can cope with most of the application scenarios that fingerprints can also be recognized.

The fingerprint system consists of a flat sapphire crystal, a stainless steel detection ring, and a fingerprint scanning array, all integrated into the R3's home button.

This fingerprint scanning array scans the surface of the user's skin from different angles to generate a very detailed 3D fingerprint that can identify multiple fingerprints, all of which are encrypted and stored inside the chip.

The fingerprint recognition system uses a set of high-level algorithms, which significantly increase the sensitivity and effective detection distance of the sensor, and can recognize even extremely blurry images, so that it can maintain robustness to various types of fingerprints.

In addition, the fingerprint recognition technology of this fingerprint recognition system comes from Eagle Sauce's domestic Adentek company, which has developed a semiconductor sensor technology based on capacitance and wireless radio frequency.

The basic idea of this technique is that the finger forms one pole of the capacitor, and on the other side is a silicon sensor array on the other pole of the capacitor, and when a voltage is added to the finger and the sensor array, an electric field is created between the two.

Due to the unevenness of the finger surface, the distance between the finger surface and the sensor array will be different in various places, the difference in distance makes the electric field intensity induced on the sensor array different, and the peaks and valleys on the finger induce different electric field intensity on the pixel of the sensor, which is synthesized into a fingerprint image after chip processing.

Since dead skin on the surface of the finger is non-conductive, the sensor identifies the living skin underneath the dead skin, and the system obtains clear and sharp images thanks to the exclusion of dead skin.

For example, the metal ring around the home button detects the finger when the finger is placed on the one hand, and turns on the fingerprint recognition function, and on the other hand, it acts as a conductor to conduct voltage to the finger so that the finger forms an electrode.

In fact, many companies have also developed fingerprint recognition technologies such as optics and body temperature before this, but other recognition technologies can only recognize the skin on the surface, and the imaging quality is far inferior to this set of technology from Aidentek.

The small company, which started with just a few people and a prototype, is now able to offer 14 different fingerprint sensors with its patented TruePrint technology, and has installed more than 4 million sensors worldwide, mainly for personal computers, wireless devices and access control equipment manufacturers, and can basically sell hundreds of thousands of sensors a year, each sensor is still very expensive, tens of dollars each.

The sensors offered by this company are expensive, but the technology has some flaws – the protective layer of the sensor is very bad due to wear and tear.

Because the electric field is very weak, the finger and the sensor need to keep a close distance, so the protective layer can not be too thick, in addition, there are often grease, salt and sand particles on the fingers, plus moisture and temperature, will cause corrosion and wear on the protective layer of the sensor, become the killer of the protective layer, after a period of use, the protective layer will wear out, resulting in recognition failure.

Prior to this, all fingerprint recognition sensor manufacturers, including Adentek, have not solved the problem, and manufacturers such as Motorola and Samsung, Siemens and Fujifilm have invested a lot in the development of fingerprint recognition. But in the end, they all failed.

The reason for this is that there is no suitable material to coat the surface of the fingerprint sensor to protect its silicon sensor array.

In the middle of this, the company still found large customers including Hewlett-Packard, Huaxing Group, Dell, Fuji, Samsung, Nokia, Cisco, Lucent, etc., trying to get funding, except for Huaxing Group, other companies are not interested in development.

After learning of this good thing, Yang Jie also let the company spend more than 100 million US dollars to acquire the company and obtained all the technical patents of the company.

At first, Leybold High-Tech wanted to buy the company's engineering team in order to develop products for Huaxing Group, but the senior management of Adentek did not agree after an exchange of views. Since then, the two sides have held several more negotiations.

Leybold High-Tech then offered to buy the entire company for $130 million and promised to let the company operate independently, a condition that was also very satisfying to the company's executives.

On the basis of these technical patents, Huaxing Group has developed a sensor array with higher resolution, and Leybold High-Tech Company has solved the technical problems of the sensor protection layer under Yang Jie's technical solution.

Yes, Leybold High-Tech uses sapphire crystal as a protective layer for the sensor, and the silicon chip and the shutter of the fingerprint sensor are integrated and molded into one, so that the units can be closer together than before, and the package structure can protect the sensor chip and the shutter.

In order to make this fingerprint recognition system more secure, Adentek also developed a set of "anti-spoofing technology" at the behest of Leybold High-tech Company.

This technology can dynamically measure the characteristics of the finger's skin during scanning, and only real fingers will be recognized, and trying to deceive the fingerprint sensor with a dead finger will not be successful.

This set of technology can now also allow the mobile phone of Huaxing Group to develop different functions that can be turned on according to different fingers, such as thumb unlocking, index finger authorization payment, etc.

Now Leybold High-tech is also developing more functions on this basis, and the next step is to add other sensors to the home button to simulate a mouse or joystick, when the finger slides on the sensor, it can simulate the movement of the mouse or joystick.

Huaxing Group's product equipment has its own unique ID, these devices need ID password when activated, even if some criminals let the device enter recovery mode, clear all the content, reactivate the device or need to enter the ID password, and add SMS verification and email verification and other means.

Yang Jie means that the fingerprint recognition system can achieve more functions and protect the user's information security, and at the same time increase the difficulty of hackers to crack the product equipment of Huaxing Group Company.
