Chapter 13: The Auction Turmoil
Seeing the tragic death of the minotaur, Al's heart was shocked. Aside from the occasional sighting of a minotaur in the small town of Nack, this was the first time he had seen such an orc outside of the Green Valley Forest.
No one knows better than him that the Minotaurs are peace-loving and quiet orcs who live all year round on the easternmost edge of the Green Valley Forest, with its lush low shrubs and fertile pastures. On weekdays, they will keep the shape of a cow and only turn into a minotaur when they are in danger. They have no intention of starting a feud with other races, which is why their territory has been repeatedly encroached upon by other warlike orc races, but most of the time they choose to back down for the sake of peace.
However, it was such an indisputable race, and one of them was now dying bloodily in front of his eyes, which Al could not accept. Moreover, Al's first friend, the werewolf Worf, is also an orc, and the orcs are not evil in El's impression, and in the face of the gradual expansion of humans into the forest, the patriarchs of the orcs know that they can't resist the iron hooves of humans, and most of them adopt a strategy of retreat.
Although Al was a little impulsive in his heart, reason told him to exercise restraint for the time being, and it was more important to find out the reason behind this matter.
Al's hands clenched the net tightly, letting the sharp wire sink into his skin, anger and confusion squeezing him between the walls, struggling to breathe.
Li Shiyi in the field obviously didn't expect things to develop like this, he wanted to cut off the two iron horns and stop, just wanted to deter this brute beast and achieve the goal of victory, and did not really want to take the life of the minotaur. Because of him, I could see that the Minotaur was unusual.
Li Shiyi tied the black blade around his waist and reached out to touch the Minotaur's pulse, but unfortunately the other party had stopped breathing, leaving only a faint residual temperature and a relieved face.
Li Shiyi shook his head weakly, waved the knife in his left hand, and the black light flashed, and the iron chains and mouthpieces on the minotaur were cut in half, rolling into a large area of beast blood, mixed with dirt.
"You're free. Li Shiyi didn't feel the hustle and bustle around him at all, he only felt the strangeness of the silence in the field, as if a pair of giant hands were secretly manipulating all this, and the cold and fishy wind blowing in front of him was obvious.
The crowd was still agitated, and the blood made them even more insane. The terrible liquid entered them like a stimulant, and a group of well-dressed high-class people were even more bloodthirsty than primitive people.
"What a wonderful blood, worthy of the warriors of the Empire, dedicate your warmest cross talk to him!"
Dozens of fireworks were shot around the arena, pushing the atmosphere of the scene to a climax.
The body of the minotaur was thrown on a cart and pulled out by the staff. The damage to the site caused by the battle was also quickly repaired. A large red carpet was laid out on the floor, covering the devastation, and stretched from one of the exits to the center of the field.
"The next part was everyone's favorite. The host's mouth almost reached the root of his ears, like a crazy clown, "After the exciting competition, we move on to the next stage, the auction!"
"I'm going to get to the bottom of this!" Al slammed his fist into the net. He took a deep look at the strange knife-wielding young man Li Shiyi who was slowly leaving, and then turned to the direction where the cart was leaving, the white corpse cloth oozing a piercing crimson, and the fire in Al's heart was blazing.
In the distance, the floor-to-ceiling windows of the viewing platform on both sides of the host platform slowly rose, and a well-dressed nobleman sat there, dozens of capable maids stood behind them, serving these people in every detail, obviously the next auction session was prepared for these magnates.
"The old rule, interested adults can bid at any time, and the highest bidder will win!" The host's white-gloved left hand pointed to an arch leading to the arena, "Without further ado, please ask the staff to ask for the first auction item!"
Following the direction of the host's finger, many people's eyes lit up, looking forward to the first auction item.
Although the things in the auction are relatively novel and rare, and it is not their turn to participate in the bidding, the excitement of this link is often more eye-catching than the bloody fight. The repeated bidding between those super-rich chaebol officials can undoubtedly arouse the audience's exclamation, the so-called imperial arena is not only wrestling, but also fighting for money.
Finally, an iron cage car was pushed into the arena by the staff in the midst of all the attention, and from the moment the cage appeared in the daylight, many spectators, especially men, involuntarily swallowed a mouthful of saliva. They looked at the caged man with burning eyes, their eyes full of fiery yearning and naked desire.
Outside the edge of the arena, Al's heart twitched violently as if it was being held by a large, invisible hand, and like most people, he couldn't believe his eyes. In that cage turned out to be a rare elf, and it was two female elves!
According to Uncle Paul, the elves are a noble race, they live in the western part of the Green Valley Forest, and they rule the primeval forest with the orcs, but the elves are scarce in number, and they have territorial disputes with the orcs all year round, and they are not compatible with humans. In recent years, due to the continuous invasion of humans and orcs, the elves have gradually retreated to the depths of the dense forest in the westernmost part of the Green Valley Forest, and it is rare to see their whereabouts.
The yellowish and white waterfall hair, pointed ears, slender figure, flawless face, fair skin, and trembling cage middle-aged female elf are the same as Uncle Paul once told Al. The female elf held a young elf in her arms, probably only seven or eight years old, and her big frightened eyes swept over the surrounding spectators at a loss, and then buried her head deep in the female elf's arms.
"Some viewers must have guessed it, yes, this is the first item to be auctioned today. The host paused, "Oh no, two to be exact, they're the elves captured by the soldiers of the Empire from the Green Valley Forest, a rare species! And now they're on their knees in front of you! Citizens of the Empire!"
VIP area of the viewing platform.
"How is this auction item, Lord Nilbas?" asked the man on the leather sofa with a smile on his face.
"Yes, yes, I'm very interested in this elf! it's much more beautiful than the twenty or so yellow-faced women in the family. I heard that the elf's figure is very good, and when I saw it today, it really deserved its name! The middle-aged man named Nilbas lifted his big belly, which almost hung to the ground, stared intently at the elf in the field, his gaze wandering wantonly on the middle-aged woman's body.
Many of the male nobles showed a strong interest in elven women like Nilbas, and their respective thoughts were unknown.
On a set of sofas at the outermost end of the VIP area, a little girl with her hair in a bun wears a purple corset dress and creamy boots. The shadows of the walls just obscured his delicate face. The girl picked up the daisy-patterned crystal goblet on the table, shook the red wine in the glass, sniffed it gently, didn't seem to be very interested, and put it back in its place.
The two heavily armored soldiers with spears in their hands beside the girl were like two statues made of steel, quietly guarding the little girl, but their armor was obviously different from the iron armor of ordinary imperial soldiers, but slightly golden, and the shoulder armor was heavy.
A murderous aura like a fierce wind emanated from a corner of the spectator stand, and a figure in a gray trench coat and a gray mask in the shadows stared coldly at everything in the field. His joints erupted with a beeping sound from too much force, and the man's eyes cracked, and even his breathing was disturbed by the emotional excess.
In his left hand he carried a wooden box that belonged to El and had been handed to him by the thief a few minutes earlier. The corners of the man's eyes were exposed, and a quenched steel black dagger had quietly slipped into his right hand.
"Lord Nilbas bids, 10,000 gold coins. The host shouted.
"Whew", many people gasped, what is the concept of 10,000 gold coins, which is equivalent to 100,000 silver coins, how many ordinary people can't earn 10,000 gold coins in their lives, but in the eyes of these rich people, it is not worth mentioning at all.
"Lord Zeda's bid, 11,000 gold coins!"
The box in the black's hand had been lowered, and he was ready to attack. Several of the surrounding spectators, shivering all over, noticed this person who was dressed strangely, and they didn't know why this person was so excited.
"Lord Faruz bids, 10,000..."
"That's enough!" With a violent roar, the gap in the protective net was violently torn open, and the iron door embedded in it fell to the ground.
The man in black stopped his form, because someone had already rushed into the arena before him, and he looked intently to see that it was none other than the owner of the wooden box in his hand.
The left sleeve of Al's robe was torn apart in an instantaneous burst of power, revealing his eerie dark red arm. This group of merchants in the VIP area completely treated other people's lives as a commodity to be traded, and Al could not stand it anymore.
"Life is so cheap in your opinion, isn't it?!" Al swept across the VIP area and the host, cold. "Officials, old men!"
For a moment, the entire Imperial Arena was silent.
Everyone seemed to be shocked by the recklessness of this plainly dressed boy, was he crazy?
The Imperial Arena is under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Guard, the Crusaders, and to make a disturbance here is tantamount to standing on the opposite side of the Imperial Family. So since the arena was established, for hundreds of years, few people dared to violate the rules here.
But El's hasty intrusion, like a thunderclap in the lonely night sky, shattered the long silence.
