Chapter 8 Forests
Ayros has been busy with food under the tree, and in his opinion, life and death are matters of food and sleep, and life is nothing more than a bowl of food and a bed to cover the rolls.
Joey was still sitting in the tree, and she wanted to look at the surrounding mountains, the moon, and the flecked canopy of leaves.
From this point in the forest, you can occasionally see two birds leaping by, the hoarse chirping sound from far and near, the trees and mountains gather together, enclosing the whole basin in the center, blocking the cold and humid air currents blowing from afar, and maintaining the overall temperature of the forest.
The cold winter seems to have never fallen in the forest shrouded in snow-capped mountains, and the trees are densely covered with green leaves, close to each other, and the wind is ringing inch by inch.
Joey was more concerned about the way out here, she raised her monoculars to look at the lens as far as her eye could see, and kept changing directions, she noticed that the snow-capped mountains here were very crowded, leaving only a few gaps in the southwest to find a way out of this basin, and if they wanted to get out of here, they could only go that way.
She was going to tell Aros about the news, as they were a couple in distress now.
Eros struggled around the fire to save his pile of slimy food, and only nodded contentedly when he took a bite of the spoon he had brought.
"Eloth, we might want to consider getting out of here sooner. Joey sat down and preached.
"Don't worry, eat first. Eloth handed Joey a spoon.
Although Joey was afraid of the slimy mess made by Eros and didn't know what it was, she was forced to eat a little bit of stomach pressure, and she could only take a bite of it, the taste was a little strange, but it was not to the point of unbearable, Joey continued to eat a few more bites.
Elos took a gesture and took out two more pieces of rice and put them in the fire to roast, and then he said, "What did you just want to say?" ”
"Where we are, in the middle of a basin, surrounded by mountains, only a few roads out to the southwest, we need to hurry back and find our car and food. ”
"Well, aren't you looking for the dragon's corpse?"
"The dragons aren't here, don't you see them all?" said Joey.
"Okay, but how did you know there's a dragon corpse here? ”
"This information came from a friend of mine, who supposedly got it from a secret communication organization. ”
"It seems that you have a big heart, and you dare to believe this kind of uncertain news. ”
"Try your luck. Joey began to pack his bags.
......
Neither of them heeded Joey's previous admonition and left the forest early.
After the meal, Joey and Eros each took a nap against the trunk of a tree, and when they awoke, it was almost dawn, and the light of dawn was equally sprinkled on the earth and the treetops.
Eros opened his sparse sleepy eyes and tightened the thin coat that covered him, ready to turn sideways to sleep for a while, but in a blur, he saw a white object floating in the air.
The white object hung right in front of his eyes, hung by a red thread, and Eloston came to his senses, and he could see what the white object was in front of him, it was a letter, a letter sealed with red fire paint.
It was a little hard for Eros to wake up and he moved carefully, trying not to touch the letter, until he reached a safe place, and then he stood up and followed the red thread that bound the fishing envelope, all the way to the other end of the red line, a branch of the tree where he was lying.
Rubbing his eyes, Eros looked into the rest of the forest, and he found that these letters were not only his own, but on every tree in the forest, there were identical letters, and they were all hung on the branches with red threads, like white ghosts floating one by one.
Under the light of dawn, a thin mist rose in the forest, and all the letters swayed slightly with the wind, which reminded Aros of the wheat grass of his hometown, and he hurriedly woke Joey up and told her to hurry up and get ready to get out of the forest.
"When did I fall asleep?" Joey distinctly remembers her last thought before falling asleep, which was to get out of here, as she was packing.
"After you eat the rice potato I baked, you go to sleep. ”
"But...... I don't remember, what rice potatoes have I ever eaten?" exclaimed Joey in surprise.
"It looks like we're under a mental attack. Eroth's face turned cold.
The wind was blowing much stronger in the forest, and Joey packed up all his belongings, and the two of them quickly began to set out on the way home, because all the trees were hung with white letters, so Elos did not dare to climb the trees to check the direction, and could only walk according to Joey's previous judgment of the direction.
Along the way, they all avoided any kind of contact or eye contact with the letters, and both of them had plenty of experience in dealing with such strange events, one from the academy's training, and the other from the caution of survival in the wilderness.
The dawn forest was as quiet as a ghost, and the breeze was silent, and the two of them walked through the letters hanging by the red rope by the half-dark dawn light, and all the trees trembled involuntarily, following some unknown rhythm, and at last the whole forest shook.
The shaking made a vibration, from the leaves to the branches to the roots of the trees, and a huge roar like a torrent resounded throughout the forest, and the sound stirred up gusts of unknown wind, blowing like bone scrapers towards Eros and Joey, who had no choice but to wrap their mouths and noses tightly in their clothes, put on their windproof glasses, and cover their ears.
They both walked as far as they could, slowing down their pace, trying not to be affected by the changes in the forest, but the noise grew louder and louder, and at last it became a terrible cry, like a new baby being born in every tree, and let out an unbearable cry to the world.
"It's not a hallucination. Elos clutched his ears and spoke loudly to Joey.
"No, something extremely intense, surging in this forest. Joey also responded loudly.
"What's that?"
"I don't know. ”
This is where the communication between the two ends, and no one knows what happened in this forest in these few short hours.
The crying continued, the trees began to shake off their leaves, and the fallen leaves scattered like dust, and the red rope letters hanging from the branches began to become unstable, and began to sway incessantly, and these letters in this swaying, drawing white afterimages, not because they suddenly became faster, but slowly became blurred.
All the fallen leaves, one by one, fell on the top of Joey and Eroth's heads, shoulders, collars, the two of them tried hard to get all these blades down, but there are always new blades that will be replaced, the two of them have no choice but to speed up, want to rush out of this area immediately, no one dares to do any destruction, this forest has begun to become extremely weird.
