Chapter 66: Cherish the Present
Cherish the current Zhang Baotong 2016.4.14
When we are young, we like to look to the future, and when we are old, we like to think about the past. But whether we are young or old, we should cherish the present.
To be based on the present is to focus on reality. Because what's in front of you is always the most important. For example, if we have a big goal in life, but now we are sick or have a leaking water pipe, then we have to see a doctor first and fix the water pipe first, otherwise, we will not be able to feel at ease with the current troubles. Eliminating the immediate problems is the only way to achieve a lofty goal.
We like to look to the future because we have a lot of imagination. We can imagine the future as a green plain or a beautiful mountain. There's the Wizard of Oz, there's the Mystery Lodge, and even our beloved girl. We can imagine our future as rosy as a movie, but in fact, there is a big gap between imagination and reality. Neither being prime minister nor president will be as good as we think. Every person and every character will have their own joys and troubles. It's just that your pleasures and troubles are not the same as his.
I remember when I was a child, I longed to be a teacher when I grew up, but after I graduated from university and really became a teacher, I found that being a teacher was not as good as I thought in the past, students often did not study well, and would cause you some trouble in class and outside of class, and the competition between teachers was also fierce. Later, I felt that it was good to be a cadre in the organ, but after I arrived at the organ, I found that some colleagues were insidious and cunning, and some leaders were villains. Then I look forward to retiring soon and being able to rest in peace. However, when you really retire, you find that you seem to have withdrawn from the stage of history, and many things that were easy to do in the past are not easy to do now. Especially after retirement, you will find that people suddenly get old, and the value of life is suddenly much less. Therefore, everything will have its good side and bad side, which corresponds to the famous sayings "there must be gains and losses" and "lost in the east, and the mulberry elm is harvested".
I like to think about the past, because we have slipped from the heyday of our lives to the edge of the bottom, and the sun is gone, and the future is bleak. At this time, the past will be projected to us through a long focal length and a long lens, and the nostalgic mood has an emotional color, so even the mundane past will have a dreamlike taste. In fact, just like the future when I was young, the memories of old age are also a beautiful feeling, a real dream that I have experienced. Such feelings and dreams are not meaningless. It will make us feel grateful and feel good, let us know love and hate, and let us have a more accurate screening and judgment of difficult times and the state of life. And these will be imprinted in our minds in the form of experience. At this time, our future is not bleak, because we can pin our unfulfilled hopes on our future generations. Our descendants will follow in our footsteps and walk more steadily and solidly than we do.
Life is a long journey. When we are young, we imagine the future as if there is an idyllic landscape waiting to be seen. This beautiful vision inspires us to go through hardships and dangers, overcome all difficulties, and rush to pursue them. In fact, we often regret that the more we chase our dreams, the farther away they become. Maybe there is no idyllic scenery in the distant future, but we can see many unexpected scenery on the way to the future. Isn't the scenery we see every day the same scenery we yearn for?
Ignoring the scenery in front of us and deliberately clinging to the scenery of the future often leads to frustration and disappointment. Because we don't know the vision of the future, or even the end of our lives. Even if we reach the finish line, we will retreat from the summit as quickly as a climber has reached the top. But the process of chasing dreams is in a long journey. Therefore, we should cherish every day of this long journey.
To cherish the present is to live our days well. Let our days be filled with peace and happiness. The definition of peace and happiness is simple: a simple life, a kind mind, and a fulfilling faith. Of course, cherish the present, by no means just care about the immediate contentment and forgetfulness, because the future trip will have rain, snow, wind and frost, there will be difficulties and obstacles, you must take precautions, to practice the ability to pass five levels and six generals.
To live each day well, you must know how to cherish yourself. A sick person is physically miserable and irritable, and it is impossible to be happy. Although our health is largely determined by our genes, we cannot afford to neglect our own health and exercise. Quitting from tobacco and alcohol and exercising consistently is the most practical action to cherish the present and focus on the future. Because your health care today is to ensure your health and happiness in the future. Health is the source of our happiness.
Cherish the present, and don't deliberately look forward to the future. As long as we take our day seriously, we are seriously waiting for the future to come. There is no need for us to be deeply nostalgic, because every day we have now will become the fodder for our memories. Therefore, we will not wander and wander in the future waiting and memories of the past, but should change a way of living, with a grateful and youthful mentality, treat ourselves better, take care of ourselves, go more into nature, breathe fresh air, watch the sunrise and sunset, more laughter, less sadness and sorrow, enjoy the scenery in front of us, and yearn for a better future. In this way, the future will be bright.
Yesterday is behind us, and time will not be turned back. The future is unpredictable, and tomorrow is still ahead. All we have to do is to be clear about our goals, make decisive trade-offs, base ourselves on the present, and grasp today. Win glory for yesterday and add color to tomorrow.
