Chapter 203: William Retreat
The next morning, the weather was clear. The soft sunlight of the pen and the fun www.biquge.info is like a thin gold leaf, evenly sprinkled on the Pyrard Plaza. The buildings around the square are still hazy and sleepy, as if nostalgic for last night's sweet dream. The tall lime trees on the roadside gently swayed their branches and leaves in the morning breeze, as if singing an old ballad.
E1 walks on the side of Takagi Kobo. Looking at the buildings with their old tones, he felt like he had stepped into a classical oil painting.
"Which bank are we going to?" asked E1, feigned nonchalant.
"It's coming soon. Takagi wanted to answer the question. He was so quiet today that even his voice seemed to be deliberately lowered, which made E1 can't help but look at him more.
A few minutes later, the three of them arrived in front of the Haberg Bank.
"Are you sure this is the place?" E1 looked at the bank, "It doesn't look like it's very rich." β
Takagi glanced at E1, and then said arrogantly, "So you say earth." The richer the person, the more low-key he is, and only the nouveau riche would like to build a building with hundreds of floors, for fear that others will not know that he is rich. β
E1 sighed inwardly, "This guy is so annoying, he can't change it." β
Hauberg Bank is a three-storey building with a simple and solemn architectural style. On the façade of the bank there are eight huge humanoid reliefs that resemble the silhouette but are not the same.
"What are these?" asked E1 curiously.
"It is said to be the ancestor of the bank's founder. Omori replied, "The bank has a long history. β
"How many banks are there here, not very old?" said Takagi Koto, rolling his eyes.
The three of them walked into the hall. To E1's surprise, just after nine o'clock, there were already many people in the bank doing business. He glanced at it cursoryly, and there were at least 20 people in line.
An aunt with curly hair that looks like a comic book character mutters and complains while filling out a list unhappily. Behind her, a young man wearing Beats headphones was listening to a song and nodding his head rhythmically. Behind the young man was a middle-aged lady who was as thin as a pencil, and she happened to be wearing a long, close-fitting pencil skirt, and E1 was worried that she would break herself as soon as she sat down.
At the front of the other team was a black man in a suit and leather shoes, holding a cup of Starbucks coffee in his hand. Behind him was a mother and daughter, the mother still looked like a girl at first glance in a black jacket and tight jeans. And the little blonde girl who snuggled up next to the young mother looked only three or four years old, and her little face was as bright and lovely as a rose.
"What day is it, have you all come to the bank for dinner?" E1 muttered quietly. Then it occurred to him: today is January 11th, Monday, and some jobs with weekly salaries will be billed on Monday.
Omori was in line, while Takagi was playing with his phone, and E1 was bored, so he paced to a desk and picked up a flyer. Then, he returned to Takagi's side, "Mr. Takagi, are you just waiting here, or am I pushing you to the waiting area?"
Takagi put away his phone, "You push me over." β
"Mr. Takagi, do you need me to help Omori? E1 pushed the wheelchair and looked at Omori worriedly.
"No, you can just stay with me. Takagi said lazily.
At this time, several maintenance workers wearing sunglasses and uniform yellow uniforms walked in with tool kits. E1 glanced at two of them and saw that two of them pulled down the outermost roller shutter and then quickly closed the glass door, while the other three pulled out flashlights.
Then, the five men invariably raised their scarves. The black scarf was pulled up and wrapped tightly around their faces like a mask.
E1 subconsciously touched his waist, and then remembered that he didn't have a weapon with him.
One of the guards also happened to witness the scene. "What's the situation?" called the guard, "what are you here for?"
Without hesitation, a maintenance worker pulled an M9 from his waist and aimed it at the guard's chest, "Shut up." The two men who closed the door took out chains, wrapped them around the handle of the glass door, and locked the glass door in a few clicks.
"Everyone, get on the ground, immediately, immediately!" another pit man shouted, gun raised.
At the same time, the repairman who pointed a gun at the guard - no, it should be said a robber - smashed the guard in the face with the butt of his gun, who immediately lost his balance and fell to the ground. He took the opportunity to pull out the guard's gun and load it into his kit.
The guests screamed, and men, women, and children, all clutched their heads in panic and fell to the ground.
"Inside, stand up, get out of the desk, don't ring the bell!" a robber jumped onto the counter, stepping on the countertop and pointing a gun at the shivering bank clerks.
On the wall behind these hapless clerks hangs a huge oil painting by Wilhelm Retreat. In the scroll, William Retreat stands at the bow of the ship, with the rough waves surrounding the hull of the ship, and on the boat are the people oppressed by the governor. Everyone was raising their arms and cheering to celebrate their liberation.
This oil painting, which is full of personal heroism, seems to be indescribably ironic at the moment.
The man in the suit had his coffee on the floor, the headphone man's beats cable had been torn off by someone and had been left in a different place, the pencil skirt lady's knee had slammed to the ground and one of her high heels had fallen off, the blonde girl was crying in fright, and the young mother was covering her mouth vigorously.
E1 smiled wryly as he looked at what was happening in front of him, and he turned his head to see the stunned face of Takagi Koto. Obviously, the noble prince was also frightened.
One of the robbers saw E1, who was still standing in place, and Takagi Kotobo, who was still in a wheelchair, frowned, and scolded, "Are you two deaf?"
The robber's German had a strange exotic accent, and E1 was hard to listen to. He shook his head, pretending to be scared, "I'...... I ......"
"Get down!" shouted the robber, furious.
E1 had to hold his head in his hands and fall to the ground. The robber gave Takagi a suspicious look, then reached out and pulled him out of his wheelchair.
Takagi fell to the ground in embarrassment, he was in pain and angry, "My leg is hurt!" he shouted in German, "I'm hurt!"
The robber glared at him disdainfully and walked away.
"Mr. Takagi, bear with me. E1 whispered in Japanese, "It's an extraordinary time." β
"No chatting!" one of the robbers shouted, "I'll shoot if I talk any more!" The curly-haired aunt whimpered in fright.
E1 quietly looked up and saw the surveillance probe on the ceiling, and he guessed that the police would be coming soon. He laughed to himself: these robbers were not professional at all, and they didn't even notice the camera.
Another guard, who had just finished using the toilet, walked out, staring at everything in front of him in amazement, and before he could react, the robbers subdued him.
E1 reluctantly retracted his gaze and saw the embarrassed Takagi Kotozo. The latter was clutching the wheelchair as if it were a defensive shield.
"Listen, we all know this is a bank. Our goal is to get the money! Don't get in the way, don't call the police, don't be a good man, or you're dead!" shouted one of the robbers, who spoke slightly better German, but was clearly not speaking his native language.
"Could it be a bunch of foreign robbers?" E1 wondered.
"Where's the cash section?" the heavily accented robber asked a clerk as he walked into the counter. The latter lay on the ground, shaking his head in panic.
"Aren't you working here?" the robber pulled him up, nodding instinctively, then shaking his head desperately.
The robber was amused, "You don't know if you work here?"
"I ...... I'm here today to run errands, and I'm not here for work. The clerk muttered, "I'm from the branch." β
"Oh. The robber shook his gun, "So you're still working at a bank?"
"Yes...... Target. The clerk glanced at the muzzle of the gun with a shudder, and sweat was already dripping from his forehead.
"Where's the cash zone?" asked the robber impatiently.
The clerk shuddered, looked around, and didn't know what to do.
At this moment, another robber walked up to a somewhat bald clerk and, without saying a word, lifted up and kicked the bald in the stomach.
Before the clerk standing could react, the robber kicked a second and third. The bald man let out a heart-rending wail.
Before the robber's fourth foot fell, the clerk's tears mixed with sweat flowed. "In ...... Basement level. β
The robber stopped, "Damn, can't you finish talking about it a long time ago?"
As soon as the words fell, another robber hurriedly ran over, "There is no one on the second and third floors. He reported to the head with a thick accent.
The latter nodded, then shouted, "Everyone, get up and line up, go to the basement." The other four robbers agreed, gesturing with their guns, and the bank clerks and customers were forced to get up and walk up the stairs.
E1 glanced at Kotomi Takagi, then shouted, "Excuse me!"
"What do you want to do?" one of the robbers immediately turned his gun on E1.
"Don't be nervous, relax. E1 hurriedly said, "This is my friend, his leg is seriously injured because of skiing and he can't walk, can I push him down in a wheelchair?"
The robber looked at Takagi Gongwang, and then said viciously, "Hurry up!"
E1 hurriedly carried Takagi back to his wheelchair and pushed him to the first basement floor.
"Now, hand over all your phones. After everyone had gone down to the first basement floor, one of the robbers said. He picked up the trash can on the ground and walked over to the pencil skirt lady, "Please." β
The people were reluctant, but they were powerless in the face of five robbers with loaded guns, so they could only compliment in humiliation. E1 pushed Takagi at the end of the line, and before it was his turn, he quickly and calmly took a look around.
The cash area has a large heavy iron door with a combination lock and keyhole that seems to require two people to open at the same time. E1 thought to himself, "If it's a robber to open the door, it will take at least two robbers at the same time, and this is a good opportunity." Of course, if the robbers ask the bank clerk to open it, then they will have to find another way. β
The five robbers were close in height and burly and well-proportioned, and E1 couldn't tell how good they were, but judging by the pace and alertness of their walking, they should have two hits. "One-on-five, the odds are limited. E1 sighed secretly, "And there are more than two dozen hostages, and a child, if the robber dog jumps off the wall in a hurry, it will be troublesome." β
Thinking of this, he turned his head to look at Takagi and Omori. Takagi sat in a wheelchair, his head bowed, as if he had been struck. Omori was still hunched over, his eyes staring blankly at the ground.
"Your phone. The robber walked up to E1.
E1 smiled, then pulled out his phone and put it in the trash.
The smile angered the robbers, who shoved E1 against the wall. Several female guests covered their mouths in fright when they saw this scene.
"Do you really want to be a hero, little man?" asked the robber malice.
In fact, E1 is not short, he is 174 centimeters tall barefoot, but in the middle of a group of tall white people, he looks a little "petite".
"I'm very cooperative. E1 said calmly. He tried not to look at the robber's face - he couldn't see anything either, his sunglasses and scarf obscured the robber's face.
"I hope you are. The robber let go of E1, "Don't be smart, I've seen a lot of people like you." Do you know what will happen to people like you?" he smiled gloomily and walked away.
E1 returns to Takagi's side.
"Why are you trying to provoke them? Are you crazy?" Takagi grumbled quietly, "These people are all asking for money!"
"I'm stalling for time. E1 also whispered, "They didn't notice the surveillance, these banks have monitoring personnel, and once they see the robbers, they will definitely call the police." β
"Are you so sure?" Takagi's eyes widened, "what if these robbers have already destroyed the cameras in advance." β
E1 was about to retort, but suddenly closed his mouth again. He stared at Takagi's face, and his heart sank as he remembered that when the robbers had just entered the door, three of them had taken out a kind of flashlight that resembled an "emergency light" from their bags.
"It can't be an infrared flashlight, right?" E1 thought in horror, "If it's really an infrared flashlight, then they've probably flashed the camera out." β
He looked at the busy robbers: two were on patrol, one was wrapping his phone in tin foil, one was studying the gate of the cash area, and one was looking at his watch.
"Calm and not nervous at all, these guys are either professional bank robbers or they are planning to break the net. Thinking of this, E1 felt a little strange, "Zurich has always been very safe, why is it so coincidental today?"
