CHAPTER XX
Hong Kong, Happy Valley.
Wednesday, night skiing.
There are two racecourses in Hong Kong, one is Happy Valley in Wan Chai and the other is in Sha Tin. Located in the heart of the Happy Valley Racecourse, it is not only the first racecourse in Hong Kong, but also one of the few urban racecourses in the world.
Happy Valley was once a swamp and was reclaimed. Since the first horse race was held in 1846, Happy Valley has been the centre of horse racing and a place for chaebols and wealthy people to perform.
Today is the day of the opening ceremony of Longines' annual Hong Kong International Jockeys Championship.
The racecourse in Happy Valley was already lit up, with men and women, drinking beer, making loud noises and laughing.
