Chapter 1146
Living in reality Zhang Baotong 2019.5.12
Whether or not we are at peace in our hearts depends to a large extent on whether or not we live in reality. The meaning of living in reality is that no matter how troublesome or sad things happened yesterday or in previous years, and no matter what tragedies and disasters may encounter tomorrow, we can live peacefully and peacefully in the present moment, without being disturbed by unrealistic worries and troubles.
We have many art or techniques for life, such as looking ahead and planning ahead. Our minds have a lot of pessimism and worries about the future. Always like to connect the past and the future gratuitously. It's like if it rains today, there will be a flood tomorrow. This leads to the conclusion that something might happen at some point. As a result, people are worried and uneasy. However, this prediction is only a prediction, which may or may not happen. Because what is predicted does not necessarily happen.
For example, some people predict that the winter solstice on December 21, 2012 will be the end of the world, an authoritative scientist predicts that a planet will collide with the earth, and others predict how many years the oil will run out, and the earth will have a population explosion. But none of this happened.
Even if something is destined to happen, so what? like our parents will die soon, our children won't get into college, and we may even lose our jobs. Even if we were worried and afraid, or prayed for these things, wouldn't it happen?
It's going to rain, and my mother is going to get married. There are many things that we can't change. When we say living in reality, we don't mean not thinking about the future, just resigning ourselves to fate and going with the flow. Instead, don't be anxious, depressed, or even depressed about what will happen in the future. Because this emotion is a disaster and trouble in itself. For example, many cancer patients are not killed by cancer, but are scared to death by cancer. There are also many people who did not let the earthquake shake them to death, but jumped off the building and fell to their deaths.
If we can base ourselves on the present and live in reality, we will be able to deal with the problems we are facing in a more objective and realistic way, avoid sorrow and sadness over past disasters and misfortunes, and avoid unnecessary fear and panic due to bad prospects and catastrophes.
If my mood and brain are occupied by negative things, I will no longer have positive and happy feelings. Sadness and annoyance can cause us to drown in negative emotions, thus depriving us of the happiness and joy we deserve. A lot of worries and worries are because we have a bad prediction and premonition, and those pessimistic behaviors are just a dress rehearsal for taking the future for granted, but it is not reality.
Maybe we think that if we suffer more now, we will have a better life in the future. This thought repeats itself over and over again in our brains. However, this "better days to come" may not come. And while we're busy making all these plans, our children are growing up, our loved ones are gone, our bodies are aging, and our dreams are quietly lost. This can make us miss out on enjoying life.
Yesterday's sun doesn't dry today's quilt, and the past is always in the past. Even if we have lost a loved one, or have been cheated of our life savings, it is useless to regret and grieve now, and we are powerless to return to heaven. Whether tomorrow will be sunny or rainy, we don't necessarily know. What we can really control and grasp is only now. Therefore, we should put our minds and efforts on the present moment and focus on solving and dealing with the various issues we are facing. This is the most objective and realistic approach.
When we focus on the here and now, we put worries and fears in the back of our minds. Most of our worries and fears about the future focus on how short of money we may have, how our children will get into trouble, how we will get sick or die, and so on.
The best way to overcome these worries and fears is to learn to draw our attention back to the here and now, and not to let these worries haunt us prematurely. And at this moment, all we have to do is what we should and must do right now to make ourselves as happy and rewarding as possible.
