Chapter 82: Defence Against the Dark Arts Teacher (Part II)
Having got Peeves out of the way, they followed the ragged Defence Against the Dark Arts professor on their way.
I passed through another hallway......
A few minutes later, Lupin led them to push open the door of a classroomβ
This is the same classroom that Professor Albus Dumbledore took them to deal with Borggart last semester.
"Please come in!" Lupin closed the door with one hand and made a gesture of invitation with the other: "Everyone sit down first, don't move." β
Twenty or so students walked into the classroom one by one, and then sat in their seats in the classroom.
The classrooms were dark, the curtains were tightly closed, leaving only a few lamps for illumination, and apart from the tables and chairs, the rest of the area was a large cage...... Some blood stains could be faintly seen in the cage, and there were several large rocks in their direction.
Jon noticed a thick piece of parchment on the table, and then he looked up again, as he seemed to hear something, like someone was crying.
"Where do you look?" Zacharis whispered.
Following Zacharis's direction, Jon saw the innermost part of the cage, which seemed to have a little girl with her back to them.
A little girl who seemed to be very cute, sitting there curled up in a ball, dressed in blood-red clothes and wearing a hat on her head.
"Woo-woo-woo......" The little girl lowered her head and let out a low sob.
The crowd couldn't help but talk about why such a little girl, who looked like she was only four or five years old, appeared in the classroom of Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Lupin...... Professor...... Why are you locking her up?" asked Sean Avery of Slytherin, standing up, a little disgruntled.
"That's what we're going to do in this lesson!" Lupin said with a smile, "Maybe to you, it's just a cute girl." β
Most of the students nodded.
"But that's not the case......"
"Is it a vampire?" Jon whispered from Steven Lucas.
"Impossible!" Madeleine-Yaxley retorted softly, "Vampires are not easy to hunt!"
Jon frowned, remembering that the creature seemed to be mentioned in the book Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Defense.
A small-looking, but dangerous-looking magical animal!
......
"Now, look ahead!" Lupin raised his wand.
A stone in the cage began to slowly deform and finally turned into a gray wolf.
Turning stones into animals, quite a clever transfiguration.
Watching the "gray wolf" get closer to the crying little girl, even if they already knew that the gray wolf was conjured by the Transfiguration technique, several girls couldn't help but cover their mouths.
The "gray wolf" had already walked behind the little girl...... Then, a jaw-dropping scene appeared.
The back of the little girl, who had just looked well-behaved and weak, turned around, revealing its true, hideous face......
A strange-looking, dwarf-like creature with a large, bloody mouth that took up almost half of its face, and a large thick stick in its hand.
The dwarf viciously smashed the big stick at the "gray wolf", only to hear a loud bang, and then the gray wolf turned into countless pieces of rubble.
The students, who had just looked at the "little girl" with pity and sympathy, now looked at the dwarf monster in front of them in horror.
"Can anyone tell me what it is?" Lupin asked, glancing at the crowd.
Jon raised his hand.
"Very well, Mr. Hart!"
"It's a red hat, Professor!" Jon said calmly.
"Correct answer, Hufflepuff plus five!" Lupin nodded in satisfaction before motioning for Jon to sit down.
"Red Hat!" Lupin's voice was calm, but with a strong sense of seriousness, "Mr. Newt Scamander, in the book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", rated them as 4X magical creatures, indicating that they are very dangerous magical creatures! β
"They look like goblins, but they are more difficult to deal with and more cruel than goblins! they can be found wherever there is bloodshed, and red hats generally live by licking the blood of animals or humans......" Lupin paused and went on to explain, "because they are very strong, but they are very slow, and it is usually difficult to hunt down their prey." β
"However, red hats also have their own unique hunting methods...... They usually prefer to camouflage themselves at dusk or at night, in very dark places, near large trees or rivers, with their backs to the outside, while lifting their red fur and covering their bodies. As long as they make a cry similar to a woman's sobbing, from a distance, it looks like a crying little girl!"
"Lone Muggles can easily be killed at dusk or at night when they encounter a red hat, especially Muggle hunters. There are also some beasts that do not have a keen sense of smell, and some wizards who lack experience in the wild. β
"More than fifty years ago, there were more than a dozen Red Hat attacks a year in the British wizarding world, but with the hunting of Red Hats by the Aurors in recent years, it is rare to see this creature in Blen...... But red hats are still very common in Northern or Central Europe and even in France! The red hat in front of you right now is the one I caught in Stockholm a few weeks ago. β
There was silence throughout the classroom.
A few Slytherin students who had previously despised Lupin were now listening attentively to his lectures.
The red hat in the cage had turned its back again, disguised as a weak little girl, and was crying with a whimper.
"There are many spells and methods to deal with the Red Hat, as long as you don't get caught up in its false appearance!" Lupin had already drawn his wand and aimed it at the caged monster, "But the simplest and most effective is the Split Charm, which can be quite deadly to them by breaking their red fur, and it also means that they will not be able to continue to maim others in the same way as before." β
"The mantra is...... Diffindo!"
With a spell from Lupin, the red fur behind the red hat, as if forcibly torn apart by something, fell to the ground one by one...... The dwarf monster reappeared as its prototype and let out a terrible cry.
"There's a piece of parchment on every table, and you can practice with it!" Lupin said with a smile as he put away his wand.
