Chapter 53: The Bogut in the Closet (Part I)
Hannah Abbott's words successfully piqued Jon's interest.
After Lockhart leaves, who will take over the temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher?
There are still nearly four months left before the end of this semester, so we can't let all the students in the school take one less class!
You know, in Defence Against the Dark Arts course, there are no assistant teachers at Hogwarts...... After all, it's not easy to find a full-time teacher, let alone an assistant teacher.
Could it be that Dumbledore is going to bring Remus Lupin in advance?
It's a possibility, but according to Voldemort's curse on this post, something will happen this time next year!
This brought Jon's attention out of the frustration of practicing the Patronus Charm.
He specifically asked a couple of Hufflepuff second-year students who had just taken a Defence Against the Dark Arts class in the morning.
"I'm sorry, but I can't tell you, Jon!" said Ernie McMillan, "the temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts professor won't let us spread his name everywhere...... All I can tell you is very, very good!"
Jon pouted, but had to give up.
At lunch, he heard most of the students in the school discussing who the temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts professor was.
"I think it could be Alastor Moody!"
Passing by the Gryffindor table again, Jon heard Ron Weasley shouting:
"That Auror, Mad-Eyed Moody...... My father had told me that Moody and Dumbledore were very good friends, and coincidentally, he retired from the Auror office at the Ministry of Magic two months ago!"
"Anyone can be a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, as long as it's not Snape......" Harry Potter whispered over there, "you know...... Snape has been peeking at this location for a long time!"
"I think the Ministry of Magic might send someone!" Hermione Granger said with an unhappy expression, "After all, they only designated our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher as wanted a few days ago, maybe they'll send an undersecretary to ease our crisis?"
Silently walking past their long table, Jon didn't guess.
After all, he would be able to find out who it was after a Defence Against the Dark Arts class in the afternoon.
During his lunch break, Jon didn't go back to the Hufflepuff common room, but went to the Room of Need.
It took more than an hour to practice the Patronus Charm several times in vain.
The result is still not optimistic, he still hasn't found a truly happy memory, and it looks like he's going to have to delay some time with the Patronus Charm!
It wasn't until nearly two o'clock that he hurried out of the eighth floor to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom on the fourth floor.
Luckily, he walked fast enough and the stairs didn't make any trouble, and he arrived in time for the classroom before the start of the official class.
As he reached the door of the classroom, Jon suddenly heard a cheer coming from inside.
"What's going on?" he said, confused, as he burrowed into the classroom.
Zacharis-Smith stood on a stool, whistling.
In fact, in Hufflepuff and Slytherin, almost no students sit safely...... They all stood up and cheered.
On the podium, the gray-haired old man smiled and waved to the students and motioned for them to sit down.
Familiar faces......
Jon was taken aback.
Temporary Dark Devil Defense Teacher......
It's Albus Dumbledore!
......
It took a few minutes for Dumbledore to quiet the class again.
"I want to ...... I don't need to introduce myself, do I?" he blinked.
There was another burst of laughter from the podium.
"Professor Lockhart left us for some special reason, and it's not easy to find a temporary teacher in the middle of the semester!" Dumbledore explained calmly, "so I thought I might be able to take on this responsibility temporarily." ”
"To be honest, the last time I taught was fifty years ago...... The last time I taught students Defence Against the Dark Arts was in 1927......" A smile appeared on Dumbledore's face: "At that time, I had some minor conflicts with the Ministry of Magic, and they forbade me to be the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher anymore, so I had to be forced to teach Transfiguration!"
Looking at the entire class, almost all the students pricked up their ears to listen to his story, Dumbledore waved his hand:
"It's all old stuff. Don't mention it...... But I remember the last Defence Against the Dark Arts class I had sixty-six years ago, and it's the same today!"
"So let's get started...... Please put all the books back in your bag, and in Defense Against the Dark Arts we should be more practical, so all you need is your wand. ”
The class put their books back in their bags, and many exchanged glances of surprise, having never taken a Defence Against the Dark Arts practice class in the more than half a year since they had been at Hogwarts.
"Then, come with me......"
The students all stood up and followed Professor Dumbledore out of the classroom, leading them through the empty hallway, turning a corner, and finally to an unfamiliar classroom.
The classroom was empty, except for the old benches on one side.
At Dumbledore's signal, the Hufflepuff and Slytherin students sat there in turn.
Jon subconsciously sat in the back of the seat, which was easy, as everyone was scrambling to push forward.
Professor Dumbledore had already pulled out his special, elderwood wand.
With a flick, a large wardrobe that was almost two people tall suddenly appeared in the classroom.
Professor Dumbledore walked over to the closet and stood, and the closet suddenly shook as if something was trying to knock it out.
"Don't worry!" Seeing several students shrinking their heads in fright, Dumbledore said calmly, "It's just a Boggart inside!"
"Boggart likes dark, enclosed spaces. Under the bed, in the closet, and even in the cupboard, it is often their hiding place...... So, the first question I'm going to ask you is: What is a Boggart?"
A girl sitting in the front row raised her hand in the air.
"Very well, Miss Selwyn!"
"No one knows what the Boggart really is, it shapeshifts!" the haughty-looking Slytherin girl surnamed Selwyn stood up, "become the target of any of our fears." ”
"I don't think even I can explain it better!" Professor Dumbledore nodded, "Slytherin plus five." ”
Selwyn sat down happily, and the students around her looked at her with envy.
"No one knows what Boggart looks like when he's alone, but when I release it, it immediately becomes the most feared thing for each of us. Dumbledore continued, "Now, then, take out your wands......"
"Let's try a spell:"
"Ridikuius!"
