Chapter 34: Back to School

The train stopped at the Hogwarts platform.

They followed the flow of people out of the pitch-black platform, and this time, they didn't need to row into the school again.

Outside the station, a hundred horse-drawn carriages were waiting for them...... To be precise, it's the carriage pulled by Thestrals, but now Jon can't see the Thestrals in front of the carriage.

He and Astoria climbed into one of them.

The carriage passed through the gate, then through a wide driveway, and soon they could see the gates of Hogwarts Castle.

After only a while, the carriage came to a halt at the foot of the stone steps in front of the two oak gates, and after disembarking the carriage ascended the stone steps into the cavernous depths of the foyer.

Returning to school after the Christmas break is not like having a lavish opening party like the start of school. Jon and Astoria hurriedly said goodbye and were about to follow the students of their respective houses back to their common room when a middle-aged witch in emerald green robes stopped them.

"Professor McGonagall, what's the matter?" asked a Ravenclaw lady in a loud voice.

"I'm sorry!" Professor McGonagall's face seemed a little weak, "but you'll need to wait for your professors to pick you up and take you back to the common room...... Gryffindor students, come to me!"

"What the hell is going on?" shouted several of the older boys.

"A new attack, just a dozen days ago...... The two victims, Hufflepuff's Justin Finchreiry and Gryffindor's ghost Nicholas Boltington!" Professor McGonagall said with a heavy heart.

"What!"

"Justin, he was actually attacked......"

"Wait...... Not even the ghosts!"

The crowd erupted into a chatter, and as Astoria had just said, most of them didn't know the news.

Most of the Hufflepuff students, in particular, had shocked faces.

Fortunately, Professor Sprout arrived soon.

"Hufflepuff classmates, come with me......" she said with a sad expression.

......

"Potter must have done it!" Digging into the barrel and crawling through the underground tunnels, Jon heard the loud voice of Ernie McMillan.

Ernie didn't come home during the Christmas holidays, so he knows the "truth" more about Justin's attack!

Several Hufflepuff students, who had gone home from vacation, hurriedly surrounded them.

"You know what? Potter was at the site of the attack by a very coincidental coincidence...... He and Weasley were attacking the location when we found out Justin and Nick had been killed!"

"If one attack was a coincidence, then all three attacks were at the right place...... There must be ghosts!"

In fact, what Ernie said is quite reasonable, no matter which point of view, Harry Potter is the first suspect in the attack. And every time I hear a strange sound (the voice of a basilisk), I rush over...... I didn't touch my head with the basilisk and Ginny once (I guess I died directly after one encounter), which is a blessing.

"Why did he attack Justin!" Hannah Abbott asked, puzzled, "I remember Harry and Justin had a good relationship in the herb class......

"Justin told Potter in herb class that he was Muggle-born, and he must have been held a grudge against Potter!" Ernie said categorically, "Just a few days before Christmas, during an extracurricular activity, Potter ordered a snake to attack Justin, and if Professor Snape hadn't stopped it, I'm afraid Justin would have been killed at that time...... However, this incident made Potter show his feet!"

"He's a parseltongue?"

"Yes, you know, Parseltongue is the symbol of the most evil wizard...... And Salazar Slytherin himself is a parseltongue!"

"He's so hidden!" Hannah screamed.

"Bet on my McMillan family, the murderer must be Harry Potter!" Ernie McMillan had already decided.

......

But Ernie's brilliant reasoning was interrupted by the presence of Professor Sprout.

"Ernie, don't use your malice to figure out your classmates!" Professor Sprout said sternly to Ernie, "Professor Dumbledore believes that Mr. Potter is not a murderer, and that's enough!"

"Okay, Professor......" Ernie McMillan walked away in a gloomy manner.

Jon was surprised to find that Professor Sprout's gaze turned to him.

"Jon, come with me, can you?" she said gently.

"Well, Professor!" Jon hurriedly walked over and climbed out of the barrel with Professor Sprout.

"Professor, what's the matter?"

"I'd like to ask you about those two spiders!" Professor Sprout asked, grimacingly, "how are they?"

"They're dead!" Jon said with a sad look on his face:

"Professor, since you came to the common room and helped me get them back, they haven't been in great shape...... Until one day in November, they suddenly screamed, and by the time I was ready to feed them, they were dead!"

"I'm sorry...... But can you find out what day they died?" Professor Sprout continued.

"Let me think about it......" Jon frowned, "Seems to be ...... It seems to be the day after Hufflepuff's victory over Ravenclaw's Quidditch match!"

"What?" Professor Sprout's face changed suddenly.

"What's wrong, Professor?" Jon asked knowingly, the day after Colin Creevey was killed.

"Nothing, kid...... I'll have to go find Professor Kettleburn......" Professor Sprout stammered as he spoke, "Sorry, I missed you!"

Taking two steps back, she turned back again:

"Remember, don't leave the Hufflepuff common room alone. ”

"Okay, Professor!"

......

Leaving the castle, Professor Pomona Sprout, the herbology teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, hurried to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

But when she arrived at the thatched hut, she found herself in the air.

Professor Sivanos Kettleburn, the Conservation of Magical Beasts teacher, wasn't here.

Professor Sprout walked around the hut for a while, spotting the stout, Hogwarts Keykeeper.

"Hello, Hagrid!"

"Hello, Professor. ”

Rubeus-Hagrid was carrying a large cage with a chirping sound coming from inside.

"I'm looking for Sivanos, he doesn't seem to be at school?" Professor Sprout asked softly.

"Professor Kettleburn?" said Hagrid, grinning, "He looks like he's gone to London to get his prosthetic leg replaced, and he won't be back until a month, and Professor Grapeland is taking his place!"

As he spoke, Hagrid's eyes couldn't help but show envy.

"Really?" Professor Sprout sighed, and she suddenly noticed the cage in Hagrid's hand, and couldn't help but ask curiously, "What's in it?"

"A bunch of little roosters!" Hagrid replied casually, "I don't know if the fox or the vampire did the roosters in the school, and all twelve of them were killed, and now there is not even a single crowing chicken in the school......"
