13. Disputes and abnormalities
At seven o'clock in the evening, when I looked up from Dawn Town, I could see that the sunset that had dyed the sky red was about to set.
Outside the walls of a white-brick house, numerous guards came and went, their patrols converging throughout the town and regrouping here.
A small town guard reported to his superiors:
"Sheriff, we've found Ogden's body!"
The sheriff snuffed out the cigarette in his hand, and his eyes widened:
"What did you say?"
It was bad news, but it was better than not knowing anything, he was too tired.
The last time there was a murder in this peaceful town was seven years ago, and it was an accident, and the last time it happened was before he took office.
Finally there was concrete information, and the sheriff asked:
"What about Mrs. Leicester and her children. ”
The guard looked embarrassed:
"There's no news, and we've cordoned off the site, you need to see for yourself. ”
The guards led the sheriff to a wooded area not far from Leicester's house, where some traces of dirt could be seen from the edge.
It was supposed to be a common burial, and it seemed that the prisoner didn't have much time to dispose of the corpse, but the sheriff felt a little strange about the looks of the guards around him.
However, when he saw the body, he almost didn't vomit his dinner.
"How can there be such a perversion!"
Lester's body had begun to decompose, but it wasn't that disgusting sheriff.
Instead, his skull was lifted alive, but the brain inside was gone, and there was no trace of brain pulp on the surface of the bone, as if it had been licked clean by some creature.
The guard on the side said:
"The medical examiner said that the head of the corpse showed signs of gnawing, that this was not the scene of the crime, and most importantly, that he should have died much longer than he disappeared. ”
The sheriff focused on the first half of the sentence, and asked with a white face:
"Just like the carcass of a black bear?"
"Yes. ”
The sheriff came back to his senses, looked at his subordinate beside him and asked:
"Where's the mayor, hurry up and get me the mayor, we need to notify the city police station right away. ”
"We don't know ......"
The sheriff shouted out of control
"Then I'll find it until I find it. ”
He was agitated not because he was frightened, but because he realized a terrible truth.
A monster capable of easily killing a black bear is wandering around the town and sees humans as prey.
So who will die next, and how many people will die before this catastrophe ends?
It's a nightmare for Dawn.
And in Hevin's cottage.
Rebecca sat on a wicker chair and stared blankly at the empty wooden wall.
Jimmy crouched on the ground with his hands on his knees, not knowing what he was thinking.
Nelly rummaged through the kitchen, trying to find some food.
"Haura, where do you usually put your food?"
Hola calmly replied:
"Is Sister Nelly hungry? But it's not time to eat yet?"
Nelly stopped what she was doing, looked at Hola and said:
"Sort of, no, I'm not hungry, I don't know, I just feel like I have to do something, and I don't really know what to do if I have a break down. ”
Lotus stretched out his little hand and took Nelly's slender fingers:
"It's okay, there's Hewen. ”
Nelly couldn't help it, and asked with a little cry:
"What if Ogden is dead? What if Hewen is so powerful? And why don't you seem to be scared at all, do you always know Herwin's secret?"
Hola and Nelle looked at each other and said:
"I don't know, but I'm sure Hewen will protect us. ”
"Why do you trust him so much, I mean, he's really good and a good guy, but if you don't know him at all, how can you be sure that Herwin can solve everything. ”
Hola tilted her head and looked at Nelly suspiciously:
"I can't be sure, but I believe Herwen?"
Nelly was a little uncomfortable to look at by Hara, and the little girl had a unique way of thinking that she couldn't understand.
"What if Herwin fails?"
Hara's tone was firm:
"He's not going to fail. ”
"He is not a god, how can there be a man who will never fail?"
"I know, I'm not going to let ......," Hola paused, her tone already a little displeased, "he won't fail." ”
Nelly didn't know what the girl was, but she was definitely not Hervin's distant niece, and she was definitely not a sane human.
Thinking about it carefully, for some reason, Nelly was surprisingly fond of Hara when she first saw her, not because of her appearance, but because of her look, her posture, and her inadvertent many small movements.
Not only her, but everyone who saw her seemed to feel pity, and neither did her mother, nor did Jimmy, and according to what Nelly knew about her brother, the immature child would probably have taken her anger out on Hara.
But the thought never seemed to come to the adolescent boy's mind, as if such a thing could not and should not have happened.
Even now, when talking to her, Hora still makes her feel a sense of identity and security, and even now, she can't feel even the slightest hint of disgust and fear.
Maybe Hewen gave her some magical prop. Nelly comforted herself, and soon the thought became an unshakable fact that took root in her mind.
Jimmy stood up and walked up to Nelly, his head bowed and his face gloomy.
Nelly preemptively asked:
"What's wrong?"
Jimmy raised his head and said with a sneer:
"I figured it out, you like him, Hervin?"
Nelly blushed angrily and rebuked:
"Jimmy, what do you mean by that?",
Jimmy took a deep breath, as if to dispel the deep fear inside:
"If you don't like him, why do you want to talk to him and put your boyfriend before your father?
Nelly clenched her fists, shook her teeth, and said:
"You should take a good look at yourself, you're like a mad dog right now, if you weren't my brother, I would have punched you down a long time ago. ”
Jimmy looked at Nelly with a seeming look.
Nelly glanced in her mother's direction, as if she hadn't noticed the children's bickering, still staring straight at the wall.
"Nelly doesn't like Herwin. Hola said.
"What?" Jimmy wanted to stare at Hola with fierce eyes, but the moment he saw her, the boy's heart softened, and the resentment in his eyes disappeared.
Hola explained softly:
"Herwin said that Nelly didn't like Herwin, so Nelly couldn't have liked Herwin. ”
Jimmy fell silent when he heard this, but Nelie could tell that Jimmy, who had not been able to vent his interrupted anger, would find a new target for the anger.
Nelly knew she was the goal.
Knock, knock.
There was a knock on the door.
At nine o'clock in the evening, darkness enveloped the entire town of Dawn.
