Chapter Seventy-Nine: The New Semester

Jon could finally say goodbye to the faint musty smell and straw smell of the carriage.

He got out of the car with the Greengrass sisters.

A grim-faced Draco Malfoy was about to follow, but was stopped by two of his close friends: Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle.

During their conversation, Jon hears the words "Potter", "Dementor", and "Comatose" before the Slytherin trio leaves in a hurry.

Jon and the others joined the crowd of people who had walked up the stairs, through the massive oak doors, and into the Hogwarts Frontrooms.

The vestibule is brightly lit, and an ornate marble staircase leads upstairs.

The door to the right of the marble staircase opened, and Professor Minerva-McGonagall, dressed in an emerald green plaid dress, strode out.

Professor McGonagall's expression was always serious, her hair combed in a tight bun, and her sharp eyes and a pair of square glasses.

"Miss Greengrass, come here!" she glanced at Astoria before waving at her, "Mr. Hart, you can come too." ”

Jon and Astoria hurriedly walked over.

"Miss Greengrass, Professor Snape informed me in advance that you were in trouble on the train?"

"Yes. Astoria nodded, "A Dementor, Professor McGonagall......"

"Just in case, Mr. Hart, take her to the school hospital!" Professor McGonagall reminded.

"Okay, Professor!"

......

The two left the crowd and arrived at the school hospital, not far from the front hall.

There was a knock on the door of the school hospital, and Madam Pomfrey, the head nurse, hurried over.

"Dementors again?" she asked, a little irritated.

"Yes, ma'am!" Astoria whispered.

"Let the Dementors be stationed around the school, and I don't know who came up with the idea of ......"

"Last year it was a basilisk, this year it's a Dementor...... I wonder if it's time for a few dragons next year!" Madam Pomfrey grumbled weakly, "Hogwarts is a school, not a shelter for dangerous magical beasts!"

"Follow me, dear ......" but when she faced Astoria, her tone instantly softened.

"Professor Snape has given her an emerald green potion......" Jon quickly reminded.

"It's the Elixir of Joy, Professor Snape is very good at it!" Pomfrey said of Snape, with an approving look on his face, "Then all you need is some chocolate, and by the way, you need to stay in bed." ”

On the beds in the university hospital, several students are already lying down, and the most serious of them is still in a coma. Jon also sees Ginny Weasley, who is lying in a hospital bed near the inside, with Neville and Luna with her.

After greeting them, Jon saw Madam Pomfrey hurrying over, and she tossed a piece of chocolate to Jon.

A noisy alarm clock rang over the counter, and Madam Pomfrey handed two emerald green elixirs of joy to Luna and a girl next to the unconscious student as quickly as she could.

"I have to be with you. She spoke quickly, "Professor McGonagall told me to come over...... If there's any problem, press that alarm over there and I'll be right back. ”

Madam Pomfrey hurried away, and it was ten minutes before she returned.

Astoria had already eaten that piece of chocolate.

After carefully examining Astoria, she said with some unease: "It should be okay in general!"

"Shall we go back to the hall for the opening party?" Jon asked quickly.

"Of course...... But if you get into trouble, you'll have to come back to me in time. Madam Pomfrey nodded.

The two left the hospital and returned to the antechamber.

"Sorry for the trouble!" Astoria whispered.

"It's fine. Jon smiled and shook his head.

......

Back inside the auditorium, it was a sea of jubilation.

Professor Flitwick was holding a peaked wizard hat and screaming the names of young wizards...... The sorting ceremony seems to be coming to an end.

Jon and Astoria both hurriedly returned to their respective house tables, and Jon sat between Steven Lucas and Susan Bones.

"Romida-Vanny!" Professor Flitwick shouted in his high-pitched voice.

A dark-haired, timid-looking girl hurriedly ran over.

"Gryffindor!" the Sorting Hat shouted as soon as he almost touched her head.

The last two first-year freshmen, Natalie Young and Luke Yvette, were split into Ravenclaw and Slytherin, respectively.

Professor Flitwick walked out of the auditorium with his sorting hat and three-legged stool.

Jon missed most of the sorting ceremonies.

Then, Jon saw that Harry Potter and Hermione Granger had also run back from outside the Great Hall at Gryffindor's table...... A lot of people look at them and point their fingers.

"Welcome!" Professor Dumbledore stood up, glanced around, and said, "Welcome to start your new school year at Hogwarts!" but I have a few words to say before the semester begins......"

The auditorium, which had been a little noisy just now, instantly became quiet.

"You've already been through a search on the train before. As you all know, our school is currently hosting a number of Dementors from Azkaban who are here for some official mission at the Ministry of Magic. ”

In Professor Dumbledore's seemingly calm voice, Jon could hear a faint hint of anger...... Obviously, he hated the Dementors very much.

"The Dementors will be stationed at all entrances and exits of the school!" Professor Dumbledore continued, "so no one is allowed to leave the campus during their stay, and don't try to fool the Azkaban guards with your little tricks......"

"Dementors are inherently unaware of requests or excuses, and are not deceived by any tricks or disguises...... Neither will the invisibility cloak!" Professor Dumbledore added at the end.

The entire auditorium was silent, and in fact no one liked Dementors...... Anyone who encounters a Dementor will be affected by them to some degree or less.

Then, as expected, Professor Dumbledore introduced the two new teachers to Hogwarts: Remus Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, and Rubeus Hagrid, the new Conservation of Magical Beasts professor due to Professor Keitelburn's retirement.

Professor Dumbledore's speech is over......

Finally, the golden plates and goblets in front of him were suddenly filled with food and drink, and the auditorium echoed with laughter and the clashing of knives and forks.
