Chapter Seventy-One: Charing Crossroads
That terrible twelfth birthday is finally over.
For the rest of the day, around 86 Eastleigh Road, the wind was calm and everything was peaceful.
The boring and boring summer vacation passes day by day...... As before, Jon spends most of his time configuring potions and searching for memory spells.
Until one day in late July, Jon went to Mr. Robert Wilson's hardware store and got a batch of silver bullets that Mr. Wilson had helped him get before.
There are only thirty silver bullets in total, but there will only be one "moderate" werewolf in the school, which is enough.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Jon secretly collected some "specimens" of his hair.
He deliberately selected the hair of some out-of-town tourists, so that while expanding his "deformation database", he could effectively avoid colliding with the real person.
Both the Warrior Potion and the Enhancement Potion have been configured, and the Compound Potion has entered the final stage.
After adding dried African tree snake skin to the cauldron, and looking at the pot full of pungent black smoke potion, Jon knew he had succeeded...... And the effect of this potion is definitely much better than before.
Carefully packed the potions into glass bottles, Jon divided the bottles into two and put them in his suitcase.
He used more than a month to waste 100 Galleons of medicinal herbs, and now he stayed at 86 Eastleigh Road, and he had nothing to do.
Fortunately, on the last day of July, Hogwarts arrived.
A yellow parchment envelope with green lettering on it. In the letter, he was still allowed to catch the Hogwarts Express at King's Cross Station on September 1, and made a list of new books he would be using this year.
Standard Spells, Level 2, by Miranda Goshawk;
Defence Against the Dark Arts Fundamentals, by Quentin Trimb;
A Thousand Miraculous Herbs and Mushrooms - Addendum, by Felida Spall;
A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration - Volume II, by Emerrick Swich.
Quidditch Tracing the Origins, by Kennyworth-Wheat.
Second-year students need a lot fewer textbooks than first-year students...... And the last copy of "Quidditch Origins", the handwriting is completely different from the previous one, and it is obvious that someone forced it to add it later.
After receiving the letter from the school, Jon decided not to stay at home any longer.
After explaining the situation to Eric and Judy, and then saying goodbye, Jon picked up his suitcase and boarded the train to London.
......
Charing Cross is a bustling street in the heart of London.
It is also a world-famous bookstore street...... The novel "84 Charing Cross Street" written by American female writer Helen Hanff, which is known as the "Bible for Book Lovers", is set here.
A dirty, cramped bar stands out on this clean street.
Although people passing by in a hurry didn't even look at it, their eyes only fell on the surrounding bookstores.
Less than a hundred yards from this squalid and cramped pub is the Hotel Willow Hill on Charing Crossroads. A strange man in a black cloak stepped out of it and walked towards the dirty, cramped bar.
The mystery traveler carried a suitcase and did not stop at the "Leaky Cauldron Bar", but avoided the passengers in the bar, and then walked straight into the back patio.
After a few minutes, the mystery traveler enters Diagon Alley and ends up in a mysterious potions shop in Diagon Alley.
"Hello, sir!" As the mystery traveler took off his hood, revealing silky blonde hair and a young face, the female proprietress of the potions shop hurried over and asked, "What do you need to buy?"
"I need to sell some potions from you!" said the blond young man, looking at the various colorful bottles and cans on the shelves next to him, in a thick American accent.
"You're not British?" asked the landlady, a little confused.
"Yes, I'm from America!" replied the blonde young man dryly, "My name is Anduin Ureon." ”
"Hello, Mr. Ureon, I'm Julia Spole, the boss here!" the landlady hurriedly said, "What do you need to buy?"
"No......" The blonde Anduin shook his head, "I want to sell some potions from you." ”
As he spoke, he took a crystal bottle out of his pocket and threw it away.
Ms. Spoh hurriedly caught it, sniffed it, then looked at it carefully, and finally came to the conclusion: "These are...... Compound decoction...... Seems to be of good quality?"
"Of course!" Anduin said confidently.
"Compound decoction is a controlled ......product," Ms. Spoh quickly lowered her voice.
"That's your stupid law at the British Ministry of Magic...... In North America, potions can be disposed of and sold with absolute freedom. The blonde young man said with a look of disdain.
Ms. Spoh didn't know much about U.S. law, but she was a little moved......
As a controlled product, there are only a handful of pharmacists in the entire British wizarding world who know the recipe and can successfully dispense it, and with its tedious preparation steps, there are very few products on the market.
"How many can you come up with?" she asked softly.
"Five pints can still be taken out. Anduin-Ureon said with a grim face.
"80 Galleons a pint, how much does it cost?" asked Ms. Spoh tentatively.
"Reasonable, isn't it?" the blonde man didn't seem ready to dwell on the price.
He opened the suitcase, took out dozens of crystal bottles that were the same as before, and placed them on the counter in turn.
A small bag of gold coins was also handed over by Ms. Spoh.
......
Five minutes later, Anduin-Ureon reappeared on the streets of Diagon Alley with a bag full of gold coins.
When he saw many wizards crowded in front of the Quidditch boutique, he also leaned over curiously to take a look at the excitement.
He saw a broom on a newly erected pedestal.
There is one more line below:
"The broomstick is the highest level of craftsmanship at present, and its broom handle is made of ash wood, which is streamlined and exquisite, treated with a diamond-hard polishing agent, and has a hand-engraved registration number.
Each broom twig at the end of this product has been selected to perfection in its streamlined shape, so that this product is unrivalled in terms of balance and precision.
The bolt accelerates up to 150 miles per hour in less than 10 seconds, and its braking mechanism is fascinating.
The pre-sale price is 800 Galleons. ”
"Isn't it crazy to buy a broken broom for eight hundred galleons?" the blonde young man shook his head helplessly, and then walked away.
He first went to the Blotted Bookstore, where he bought a few textbooks for junior wizards under the astonished gaze of the clerk, then went to a nearby shop to buy ink and parchment, and finally bought a pair of dragonskin wand sets at the leather shop.
Tucking everything into a half-empty suitcase, he headed to a shop called the Amazing Zoo.
There wasn't much space inside, there were cages hanging every inch of the walls, and the shop was smelly and noisy because the creature in the cage was making all sorts of noises.
There are many strange animals in the shop: cats of various colors, a rowdy cage of ravens, and a pair of purple toads with huge eyes...... There was a large cage on the counter with silky black rats wagging their long, bald tails.
"I need to buy some mice!" shouted the blond young man.
The witch at the counter hurried over: "Welcome, dear...... You can take a look here, they are Serbian gallons, very intelligent and can help wizards find discarded things, 10 Galleons a ......"
As she spoke, the witch enthusiastically pointed to the large cage full of black mice, and they immediately began to jump again.
The blonde young man muttered softly, "This is too pitiful, SPF-level nude mice are not so expensive......"
"No, no, no...... Just give me some regular house mice or garden mouses...... he said quickly.
The enthusiastic expression on the witch's face quickly turned cold.
"No?" Anduin asked.
"Yes!" said the witch lightly, "4 nats, how many do you want?"
"Twenty of them...... No, thirty of them...... Give me kangaroo food again. ”
Throwing five silver sicos to the witch, carrying two large cages of mice and a kangaroo food, the blonde Anduin swaggered out of the shop.
......
Back at the Willow Hill Hotel on Charing Cross Road, the transformation time was almost up.
Within minutes of entering the hotel room, the blonde young man's body began to rapidly deform, changing back to Jon Hart's appearance.
In my previous life, I started in the third grade of elementary school and learned American English for more than ten years...... I didn't expect that in this life in London, I could use it to disguise myself as an American friend.
Seems to work well?
Jon sat down on the bed, having decided to stay in this hotel for the rest of his summer.
Because here, he can use magic at will.
According to the Ministry of Magic's Law on the Protection of Underage Wizards, underage wizards are prohibited from casting spells outside of school...... However, there is a loophole in this law, which means that the Ministry of Magic can only detect that someone is using magic in a certain area, but it cannot determine which person.
The use of magic by underage wizards in the home can only be supervised by their parents, and the same is true for the use of magic in public places where wizards are abundant.
Therefore, Charing Crossway, an ordinary street adjacent to Diagon Alley where wizards can pass by at any time, will not be detected as an underage wizard using magic here.
And compared to the dilapidated cauldron bar with many people, the bar where I am now will obviously be much safer.
After all, there will be wizards around at any time, and there is no need to take polyjuice potions all the time, and even if there is a slight problem with the use of magic, it will not be discovered by other wizards in the first place...... Even if you want to go to Diagon Alley, it's just a matter of walking a few extra steps.
Jon had sorted out everything he had brought, and was ready to start enjoying the rest of his summer vacation.
