Chapter 326: The Banquet (Part 1)
In the study, Jon and Mrs. Greengrass had a long conversation.
Until the polite house-elf Hodder knocked softly on the door of the study.
His shrill voice rang out from outside the door, "Madame, and Mr. Hart...... The banquet is ready, do you need to start?"
"Let's get started!" Diana Greengrass raised her voice and slammed the door.
"Okay, yes—" The house-elf Hodder took the order.
Then Mrs. Greengrass stood up and looked at Jon in a kind and gentle tone, "Jon, shall we go to the dining room now?"
"Yes, ma'am!" Jon quickly stood up as well, and saluted respectfully.
Just then, Jon suddenly noticed that Mrs. Greengrass had pushed a small bag of things in front of him.
"This is ......" he couldn't help but be stunned, looking at the other party with puzzled eyes.
Mrs. Greengrass smiled at him and motioned for him to open it.
The pouch is delicately made, with thin strips of gold ribbons engraved on it...... Jon carefully picked it up, and it was heavier than expected, and the contents of it slammed into each other with a "bang" and "bang".
It's a bag of gold...... It's quite a lot, maybe a few thousand gold galleons.
"Lady Greengrass, this ......," Jon said with some hesitation.
"Take it, since you want to save Astoria, I'm sure I'll do my best...... If you need any help, you can just let the owl come to me, you're welcome. Mrs. Greengrass continued to smile, her tone calm, but at the same time there was something undeniable about it.
Jon didn't say anything more, but took the bag of gold coins, and nodded solemnly, "I understand, I will do my best to save Astoria's ......"
"Of course, I believe in you, and you will succeed!"
......
A few minutes later, following Diana Greengrass, Jon made his way to the manor's dining room.
Small but nice room...... The velvety black ceiling is lit by sparkling stars, and the ceiling is clearly enchanted, and the ornate crystal lamps cast a faint glow that makes the whole restaurant appear elegant and serene.
A soft saxophone song rang out out of sight, filling the room, calming Jon's nervous and anxious mood at the sound of it.
On the round wooden table, there is a picture of an elk with its front hooves raised high, its eyes looking in the direction of the doorway, and only four chairs remain, and the others have been removed.
The house-elf Hord, as well as the old house-elf Emily from before, wore aprons and looked a little funny, and after seeing Jon walk in, Hodder bowed respectfully to Jon, and Emily nodded to Jon with a little displeasure.
Sisters Daphne and Astoria Greengrass, who arrived at the restaurant a few steps before them, held hands and looked reconciled...... Astoria turned around and smiled at Jon, while Daphne just nodded stiffly and turned away from Jon's gaze.
Mrs. Diana-Greengrass strode over to the edge of the bench and sat down, then she held out her hand and motioned for Jon to sit in the guest seat across from her. Daphne and Greengrass sat on either side of the seat.
On the right-hand side of each seat is a white porcelain vase, in which a pink rose is in full bloom, exuding a faint fragrance that smells pleasant.
Jon quietly glanced around, only to see Astoria on one side take the rose from the porcelain vase, and with a pinch of it, the rose turned into powder and dissipated into the air...... Then, a folded tablecloth appeared inside the porcelain vase, and Astoria took it out and spread it out in front of her.
Jon quickly followed suit, taking the tablecloth from the porcelain vase and spreading it out in front of him.
"Ma'am, Mr. Hart, may we begin?" the shrill voice of the house-elf Hodder rang out from Jon's side.
"I have no opinion!" Jon quickly turned his head and responded.
"Begin!" ordered Mrs. Greengrass.
"Yes!" Hodder saluted them individually, then snapped his fingers with his right hand.
......
Knives, forks, plates, and other utensils appeared in front of them in turn, along with a basket filled with slices of sliced bread.
"Mr. Hart, do you prefer butter, jam, ginger or wine when you eat bread?" asked Hodder, whispering with a tray on his head that was larger than his body.
"Jam will do......," Jon replied, pulling a jam out of the tray.
Passing the ginger juice and jam to the Greengrass family of three, Hodder snapped his fingers again, and the tray above his head disappeared, and in the center of the table appeared a small dish, packed in four spoons.
"Mr. Hart, this is smoked salmon with caviar!" Hodder shouted softly, using a levitation charm that sent the salmon in four spoons flying onto the plates of the four wizards.
Jon tasted it - the smoky taste combined with the deliciousness of the caviar made it taste good and whet your appetite.
"Mr. Hart, do you prefer cream soup, seafood soup, or borscht?" Hodder's voice rang out behind Jon again.
"Casual ...... Whatever......" Jon was a little tired of the tedious process.
......
"All right, Hodder!" said Mrs. Diana-Greengrass, "it doesn't have to be so formal, just let Mr. Hart do it himself." ”
"Yes, ma'am!" the house-elf bowed to his mistress, then took a few steps back.
Jon couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Mrs. Greengrass, as if she had seen through his embarrassment, smiled and said, "No need to be restrained, Jon...... Just like in your own home. ”
"Thank you, ma'am!" Jon replied quickly.
The house-elf also snapped his fingers one last time, and one after another plates appeared on the dining table—
On every plate, there is a delicious dish. Grilled prawns, cuttlefish ink noodles, and scallops from the beginning...... to the back steak, potato stewed lamb, apple roast goose...... to mango pudding, caramel egg pudding, chocolate pudding......
It's more hearty than Jon expected, and it tastes pretty good.
Of course, Jon still pays attention to his movements as much as possible to make himself look polite.
