Chapter 48: Invitation
Professor McGonagall's words filled the school with a jubilant atmosphere after breakfast.
So much so that in the morning Defense Against the Dark Arts class, most of the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students were whispering to each other, and no one paid attention to Professor Lockhart performing with Miss Melinda Bobin how to subdue a werewolf with his bare hands.
"Just like this, grab the werewolf's right paw...... It's beautiful, Miss Bobin......" Professor Lockhart said loudly from the podium.
"I didn't expect the Slytherin monster to be a giant serpent, it's terrifying!" And behind Jon, Eloise Midgan was whispering to Zacharith Smith, "Hogwarts will have such a terrible thing in the future......"
"Absolutely!" Zacharis said with a confident expression, "I can't imagine that there are more terrifying creatures than giant snakes in the school!"
Jon stuck out his tongue in front of him and refocused his gaze on the textbook Wandering with Werewolves.
Ten minutes later, the boring Defence Against the Dark Arts class was finally over.
By the time Professor Lockhart announced the end of class and the students rushed out, Jon Hart deliberately slowed down, stayed alone, and walked toward the podium.
"What's the matter, Jon?" Gilderoy Lockhart's voice was light, and it sounded like he was in a good mood.
"Yes, Professor Lockhart. Jon's tone was calm, and he said, "I just watched your Wandering with Werewolves in class, and I had a little trouble...... I don't understand much how silver can restrain werewolves!"
"Oh, yes!" Professor Lockhart blinked.
"So...... I wanted to go to the library to borrow two related books, but unfortunately they were both in the forbidden area. As he spoke, Jon handed over the note in his hand.
The old trick was repeated, but Lockhart was not as aggressive as last time, and he actually glanced down at the note.
"'Under the Moon', written by Moka Trevord, oh my God, why does this author's name sound familiar!" Professor Lockhart said to himself, "and a copy of Summoning the Joy of Your Heart...... God, it's actually a book for Dementors, no wonder it's in the forbidden book area......"
Jon was prepared and said unhurriedly, "Yes, Mr. Newt Scamander mentioned in Monsters and Their Origins that werewolves and Dementors may be related to each other, so I'd like to learn a little bit about the characteristics of Dementors. ”
"Yes...... No, I mean I already knew that!" Professor Lockhart was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly said, "Jon, don't just tell people that you're learning spells about Dementors, it will make some people in the Ministry of Magic think you have bad intentions......"
Jon froze, then nodded.
"Of course, as a teacher, I certainly won't stop my best students, my thirst for knowledge, and my quest!" Professor Lockhart said, pulling out a large peacock quill and writing a large pen on the slip of paper.
"Thank you, Professor!"
......
After leaving the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, Jon immediately went to the library.
This time, though, Mrs. Pince was nowhere near as talkative as she had been.
She took the note and flipped through it many times. She leaned the note close to the lamp, trying to spot signs of forgery, and no doubt she failed...... Ten minutes later, Mrs. Pince returned with two large, old books.
"These are the two!" she said coldly.
"Thank you, ma'am!"
Jon carefully put both books back in his bag before leaving as if nothing had happened.
Now that the basilisk is dead, and even though there are still more than four months left in the first year semester, it is time for him to prepare for the "accident" that happened at Hogwarts in his second year.
The Patronus Charm, as he expected, was designated a "forbidden spell" by the Ministry of Magic, after all, the Dementors were still the Ministry's clerks...... It is impossible for them to allow the unscrupulous to control the spell against these "civil servants" casually.
Books about werewolves are easy to find, but most of them are about how to deal with and destroy werewolves...... In the face of a "moderate" werewolf like Lupin, Jon didn't feel the need to bother with this, after all, Lupin didn't bite people casually under normal circumstances, just remember not to go out on a full moon night.
Due to his professional habits, he is more concerned about the difference between the physiological structure of werewolves and ordinary people, which has made the pathogenic mechanism of lupus venom pathogens ...... It was not easy to find books in this area, and it took him a lot of effort to find one in the forbidden area.
Year 2 (Year 3 of the Salvation Trio) is arguably the most secure year at Hogwarts in the coming years.
Blake, though notorious now, is not really a wicked person at all and poses no threat, he doesn't have a tragic past like Harry Potter that doesn't interest the Dementors too much, and Peter is just a harmless little mouse unless he pushes him too hard......
And it's very easy to break the game this year, find an opportunity, Polyjuice Potion into Neville Longbottom, go to the door of the Gryffindor common room, and tell others that you forgot the password. After mixing in, Peter was killed with one shot, and the follow-up plot didn't need to be played, and without Peter and Voldemort, there was no need to be exhausted and resurrected through the Goblet of Fire......
However, there are some risks associated with this approach. After all, Peter is an adult wizard who has received a true biography of Voldemort, and his combat power is definitely not comparable to that of a sophomore...... And when cornered, rabbits can bite people, let alone rats.
More critically...... How should the follow-up plot progress?
Even Peter never expected that Neville Longbottom, with his thick eyebrows and big eyes, would actually change his style and pull out a gun to shoot him in the head...... And then Peter died, and Voldemort wouldn't have been resurrected?
It's impossible, the two devils have six half-Horcruxes, and resurrection is an inevitable event......
Jon pondered for a while...... I felt that instead of waiting for Voldemort to be resurrected through unknown means, bringing unknown consequences, it was better to continue to sit back and watch the original plot develop, wait for the savior to kill him, and make a fortune on his own.
......
He just jumped up and down to the Hufflepuff common room.
While descending the stairs on the first floor of the castle, he meets a young girl with curly blond hair.
"Mr. Hart......" the girl said softly, pausing in her tracks.
"What's the matter?" Jon asked in a cold voice, "Miss Greengrass." ”
"That...... Professor Snape said he was waiting for you in his office at a quarter past one in the afternoon...... He invites you to go for an afternoon tea. Miss Daphne Greengrass reminded.
