There is so much to say.
My relatives didn't understand why I gave up my university job to write online articles full-time.
My sentence is for the sake of "interest and ideals", and there is too much sourness behind it.
Men are thirty years old, and I am indeed married at the age of thirty. He has a wife and children, a house and a car, and a stable and decent job.
Friends and elders say, "Why don't you write a book while you work?"
My response was, "I don't have the energy, I only have enough energy to do one thing at the same time." ”
As a newcomer to the online literature industry, my income has basically become zero. But it doesn't matter, I've saved some money to pay for my ideals, at least for this year I will write down with peace of mind, a person who is confident in his own ability is not worried that he will "starve to death".
I loved reading novels since I was a child, and when I was twenty years old, I wanted to write a novel, but life pushed me in another direction.
At the age of thirty, I felt a "sense of purpose". The word "mission" may be a bit of a stretch, but there has always been a voice in my head telling me to do it, and it's getting louder and louder.
I started reading novels in junior high school, and I kept reading thirty, and I basically read everything. When I reached thirty, it was rare to find another online article that could see the end. Then you might as well write your own!
In order to deeply understand the market, I tried to write the beginning of several stories, all of which were only tens of thousands of words, and I showed them to my students.
They understand my personality and don't talk about bad things in order to take care of my feelings. This is like a teacher educating a student, if you see a bad thing and say it is good, you will only mislead the student.
The students became "judges", and I had written six books with less than 100 chapters before this, and a lot of problems were pointed out.
The first to write, the student said that it looked like a paper, and it is estimated that there is no market in the online literature industry.
Later, when I wrote it, the students said that the reading threshold was too high, and even if there were readers, they would not read it carefully.
Later, the student finally said that my book was "good". I asked, "How does it compare to the books of the great gods?"
The students said they couldn't compare it because what I wrote was different from theirs, but I couldn't tell what was different.
After a pause, I began to think about what kind of book I was going to write.
When I think of my original intention, I want to write a book that most people will want to read, a book that will be memorized deeply, a book that will feel meaningful, and if I can learn a little more knowledge from the book, then I will be more satisfied.
I'm not trying to write a book that makes money, of course, it's better to make money. Wanting to make money is not for the sake of living a better material life, it is more like a kind of proof that one's ideals are also of practical value to one's family, and to prove to oneself that oneself can do this well.
Writing a book at the age of thirty has both pros and cons. The good thing is that I know a little more about the world, and the content in the book can be a little more "thick". The disadvantage is that the energy is not as good as when I was young, and writing online articles is also a physical work, I admire those writers who can write 10,000 words a day, regardless of the quality of the writing, it is not easy to just hit the keyboard so many times.
Finally, I put pen to paper again, and I knew I would keep writing it. Because I finally found the right "way to open" and opened the door to this online writing.
I wanted to combine fantasy, science, history, and philosophy into an epic story. The story is divided into five parts, and the outline is completed in three, each with a different background, but the protagonist is a person.
I wrote 200,000 words of this book before I showed it to my students.
One of my second-year students, who was also a teacher and friend, was surprised. He said that he had never read such an online novel, which was basically a "schizophrenic" novel with various themes fused together.
Different students have found something to excite themselves in this book, and I jokingly summed it up: "Those who don't like to study like the fantasy part of the book, those who love to study like the science fiction part of the book, girls like to read the emotional part of the characters, the boys like to read the history and war part, and some students who don't know what part they should like say, 'This book looks very cool'." ”
One "cool" word is enough, and this "cool" word is the essence of online articles. People don't care too much if there are typos or not, people don't care too much if the sentences are not beautiful, and they don't even care too much if there are loopholes in the story. But everyone cares a little about the word "cool".
After finding the right way to write, I finally signed up again.
In order to support me, a friend of mine often gave me a red envelope for this book. But I felt "burdened" and I called him and asked, "Are you giving me a red envelope because we have a friendship, or are you a red envelope because you think this book is good?"
"It's both," he said. ”
I said, "If it's just friendship, we don't need to reward each other for friendship, and if we think this book is good, we don't need to reward thousands of dollars at once, after all, it's just just beginning." When it's on the shelves, subscriptions are the biggest support. Because the reader subscribes to the author's article, the author knows that his book is being read and supported. ”
Later, in my readership, a reader sent me a 10 yuan red envelope. At that time, I felt that the 10 yuan was more "valuable" than the thousands of dollars from my friend.
Speaking of subscriptions, I'd like to tell three stories, three stories from my heart's journey. It's not about "canvassing" for your work, but about something more meaningful.
The first story took place when I was in middle school, when my family bought their first computer. I taught myself how to reinstall the operating system, and I remember that the operating system at that time was Windows 98, and the computer store cost 5 yuan a CD. For a long time, I thought that the system disk was just a 5 yuan CD. Later, I finally learned that genuine Windows is generally thousands of dollars, and I secretly scolded Microsoft for having a black conscience, no wonder Bill Gates became the richest man in the world.
Why does it cost thousands of dollars to do something that can be done for five dollars?
Later, I fell in love with film and television production, and the commonly used editing software was Apple's FCP, which made it easier to install pirated copies on Apple computers. Once, I met a friend who also used FCP, and I found out that he paid 2,000 yuan to buy the genuine version, and I laughed at him for spending money unjustly.
But he told me, "Any software needs to be updated, and if everyone uses piracy and developers have no income, then why should they continue to improve the software, and how can users use more convenient and better software." I spent 2,000 yuan to support it, to make this software better, and it is also worth 2,000 yuan, and the value it has created for me is far more than these 2,000 yuan.
I'm ashamed to think of some of the once-famous single-player game companies that created games that were sought after by the masses, but eventually inevitably went out of business or transformed. Because people play piracy, the company's return is much smaller than the investment. Nowadays, single-player games on the PC side are almost extinct, and the few games that survive are getting worse and worse than the original. It's all because game developers make very little money, and companies either transform or go bankrupt.
Those games that once brought us joy eventually disappeared from our field of vision.
I started using genuine software, and I want to buy all the software I use most often again, buy genuine. As a result, I was surprised to find that some of the software is actually difficult to buy genuine.
Like the famous PS, I was surprised to find that Adobe had withdrawn from China in 2014, laid off its R&D staff in China, and only retained the sales department, precisely because piracy was rampant.
Click on Adobe's official website, there is a "Learn more" next to it, and after clicking in, the page will be pulled to the very bottom, with a line of small print: "Some Creative Cloud creative application software features may not be available in the People's Republic of China." ”
This sentence is very subtle, and later I found out that individual users can no longer buy PS on this Adobe Chinese official website, it is only sold to enterprise users, and no longer provides services to individual users.
It stands to reason that I should scold it for not buying goods for us, but I can't scold it, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it......
The second story. I have a patriotic complex, not blindly patriotic, but intellectually patriotic. "Country" has the word "family", it is essentially a big family, we are born in this family, we should make this family better, not complain about it.
Our parents will always be our parents, and we can't change that. Sometimes we envy how beautiful other people's families are, but why don't we build our own families better, why do we complain about our parents, why do we want to be other people's children?
What's more, our family is already very beautiful, and it is constantly getting stronger, so why should we envy others.
I used to complain about why it is so expensive to buy an imported car in our country. Some luxury cars are basically doubled in price abroad, which makes it unaffordable for many people who could afford to buy imported cars.
Later, I understood that this is our "self-preservation". If everyone buys imported cars, then the money to buy cars will flow abroad, and foreign car companies will only become stronger and stronger, while domestic car companies will become less and less competitive. The collapse of such a large industry will directly affect the country's economy.
Domestic production does need protection, but it also needs rational protection. Some car companies blindly "copycat", never innovate, only pursue immediate interests, and live under the protection of the state. Such car companies are not conducive to the progress of the industry, and they will become lazy when they taste the sweetness of plagiarism, do not innovate, and do not change.
Even if this kind of car is cheap, even if it is made the same as the original car, I will not want to buy it, because it is not conducive to the development of the industry.
If everyone buys a "knock-off car" and doesn't buy an "original car", then how can the "original car" survive? If the "original car" collapses, people will never see a better car.
It is not right that piracy defeats the genuine version, and those who are really creating good things cannot survive, while those who make profits by plagiarism will survive.
Fortunately, this is not the case with most domestic car companies, although they have also experienced the imitation stage, but in the end they also have their own innovations and their own styles. It is believed that it will not be long before Chinese car companies will rise around the world.
The same is true for online articles, but the piracy of online articles is much more serious.
Writing a pirated website does save readers a little money, which seems to be "kind" for the convenience of readers, but they greatly hurt the author.
You know, these websites are all about making money, they earn traffic, and they earn advertising fees. They only used a few clicks of the mouse to copy the content that the author had worked hard to write all day, seemingly doing "good things" for readers, but actually hindering the development of online articles.
Whenever I see many talented authors quit the online literature industry, I feel sorry in my heart.
Sometimes, we complain about some "eunuch books", and the reason why we complain is because we think the writing is not bad. If it's a "rotten" book, no one cares if it's a "eunuch" or not.
But why do they become "eunuchs" if they write well? That's because most of them still have a meager income, and they are forced to live by piracy.
I used to read piracy, and I didn't know it at that time. I don't complain about readers reading pirated copies now, as long as readers love to read my books, I'm already satisfied. But I hate the existence of pirated websites. Why can't these sites sign their own writers and can't rely on legitimate channels to make money.
If there are more writers in the online literature industry, more high-quality works will inevitably emerge, and readers will feel happier. If there are a large number of high-quality online articles on the Internet, readers will not have a "book shortage". The world will be a better place.
The third story, the pride in my heart. I want to share this pride with everyone, so that everyone can feel something when they see it.
I love watching movies, and the Chinese film industry is getting bigger and bigger. Basically, if there is a good movie, I always think about going to the cinema and watching the premiere at zero o'clock.
However, for various reasons, some movies were about to be released, and I didn't have the opportunity to go to the theater. And these movies can be found pirated online "by accident".
What to do?
I've watched pirated copies, and if I don't read them, my heart will always itch. But before watching piracy, I would book a movie ticket online, often in the corner of the first row.
I wouldn't give this ticket to anyone else, the spot is empty, but it represents my support for the movie.
Especially for domestic films, when I encounter a good-looking and meaningful film, I often buy four tickets (group tickets can only be bought up to four tickets a day for one account).
Those who bring beauty to the world and dare to innovate deserve support, and only then will the world be a better place.
Supporting them makes me feel more valuable because I am proud to have helped the world move in a better direction.
In addition to movies, I will also support other products that I meet, especially those domestic products that are in their infancy.
I used to use an Apple mobile phone, but I changed to a hammer mobile phone last year, because it was made by Chinese people, a mobile phone that has the courage to innovate. It makes the best Android system in my opinion.
Of course, last year Huawei also did a great thing, they developed their own mobile phone chip "Kirin". These two domestic mobile phone manufacturers have made innovations in both software and hardware, and they are world-class innovations, they are worth the money and worth buying.
Spending money on them and giving them more resources makes me proud. I feel that I am investing in the development of the country, in the progress of humanity, so why not be proud of such a meaningful thing?
After the three stories are told, I hope readers can feel something.
As far as we can afford, we should support those things that are innovative and bring happiness to people, because they are the ones who make the world a better place. Supporting them also supports the development of the world and makes every penny we spend more meaningfully.
Like some "love action movies" in island countries, I sometimes go to great lengths to buy genuine works by some of my favorite actresses, because it brings joy to my life, and I should support it. Everyone watches pirated copies, and actresses have no income, so I'm afraid they won't act.
With trepidation, my work is also on the shelves. Having said all this, I am not "canvassing" for my work. I just want to get the support of readers who really love this work, and this support can be a subscription, or the word "support" in the comment area, or even urging me to change.
The innovation of this work lies in the fact that it integrates multiple themes, and I believe that readers can always find what they like to watch.
How it is, let everyone judge.
