Chapter 6: The Bends of the Road (11) (3)
Xylophone called Zhenfu and Maoqing and ordered, the project is finally completed. Today, let's improve our lives. Stew more meat, make four kinds of dishes, go to the town to buy some wine, and then go to the four directions to carry some flatbread, and treat the people on the construction site hard. Today, let everyone eat and drink to their heart's content. Even if you're drunk, it doesn't matter.
With a xylophone, Zhenfu couldn't wait. He immediately shouted at a group of cubs and rushed into the town. Mao Qing didn't dare to slack off, and quickly gathered a group of women, and was so busy on the stove that her feet were facing the sky. The intoxicating smell of meat wafted everywhere on the construction site, which aroused the enthusiasm of the villagers even more. A festive atmosphere permeated the entire construction site and spread out to the desolate wilderness covered with cold and snow.
The firecrackers were finally lit on time at 11 o'clock at noon on February 16, 1985, the 27th day of the lunar month 1984.
Thirty whips, one after the other, exploded one after the other. The rising gunpowder smoke immediately covered the spacious construction site and a group of gray-headed and ragged Xinghua villagers on the construction site. This earth-shattering sound has already alarmed the people who are busy holding the New Year in the town not far from the foot of the mountain. In the narrow streets and alleys, there were suddenly some people who stretched their necks and watched from afar. The sound of firecrackers continued for more than half an hour before it gradually stopped. Then there was the clamor and clamor of shouting and drinking.
Sour Apricot, Zhenfu, Zhenshu, Maosheng, and Sour Jujube thought that they had drunk too much, and they wiped the corners of their eyes with their shoulders on their backs. Mao Qing held the small shovel used as a shovel, knocked on the edge of the king-sized pot, and hummed a little tune. attracted a group of women to sit around him, joking and laughing from time to time. Mao Lin stared at the red eyes, and Mao Shan, Four Seasons, Yang Xing and others, who were also blushing and thick-necked, guessed the boxing and drinking, and no one was convinced. Only Xylophone sat alone on a high hill, watching the lively scene on the construction site for a while, and then overlooking the town in the distance for a while, quietly combing through the chaotic and complex moods.
The road construction project in Xinghua Village lasted from the 10th day of the 10th lunar month in 1983 to the 27th day of the 12th lunar month in 1984, lasting one year, two months and 17 days. Taking advantage of the two winter and summer slack seasons, the whole village was mobilized to go into battle to repair and open up a four-meter-wide mountain road of 7.5 kilometers. A total of 60,000 cubic meters of earth and rock were transported, and 300 tons of explosives, 3,000 detonators, and 2,000 meters of fuses were used. At the cost of this, one-third of the villagers collapsed from exhaustion on the construction site, and seventy percent suffered smashes, crushes, sprains and frostbitten to varying degrees. As a result, she lost her right leg and became permanently disabled. More importantly, the incidents of beating up in the village caused by the construction of the road, as well as the various contradictions and entanglements that occasionally appeared, have left an irreparable rift in the psychology and feelings of the villagers. In this way, the people of Xinghua Village have been pushed onto the complex and unpredictable new stage of life.
As Jin Lian asserted at the beginning, the day the road was opened was the time when the villagers' hearts were scattered. The days of peace and tranquility are far away, and no one can afford to keep them. Since then, the people of Xinghua Village have entered a long journey of turmoil and strife.
At one end of this wide and flat road connecting Xinghua Village and the town, on the eve of the Qingming Festival in 1985, a smooth and hard village monument carefully carved out of granite stone was erected squarely next to the ancestral forest at the entrance of the village.
On the front of the stele are three large block letters painted with red lacquer: Xinghua Village.
On the back of the stele is a dense square block that is also painted with red paint.
The text says:
During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the Li family and the Song family moved here from the East China Sea in Jiangsu, and then the He family came to settle down. Because of the lush apricot forest on the slope of the village, it is called Xinghua Village. On May 1, 1971, a primary school and a health clinic were built in the village, ending the long years of ignorance and illness in the village. In the winter of 1984, a broad road connecting the village and the town outside the mountain was expanded and officially opened.
