Culture without culture is not called culture

There are two old sayings that correspond. One sentence is "half of the Analects rules the world", and the other sentence is "useless is a scholar". The first sentence talks about the great power and energy of culture, and the second sentence talks about the serious consequences of reading books to death. Reading is to eat, and eating grows the body, but growing the body is not the goal, you have to do things with a strong body and bones. What can be eaten but not dried is called a rice bucket as the saying goes. Those who read dead books are called nerds, bookworms. There are a lot of bookworms in the scripture pavilion of the big temple, and they are all classics, but the small body bones are always so big.

Literature should be dissolved, but culture without culture is not called culture, what is the state after it is dissolved?

Let me give you a few examples:

In the countryside, there is a kind of person in almost every village, who has a wedding or funeral, and will ask him to be a manager and a deacon. This man is not the village chief, and he may not have read many books, but everyone can trust him, he has credibility, and he can handle things properly. This kind of person just turns the "culture" away. Our China has a long history, and some of the principles and things in traditional civilization can be read from books, can also be experienced from folk customs, and can also be understood in dramas and stories, and the latter two are vivid. In China, even in very remote villages, most people may not have read any books, but those core things in traditional Chinese culture, such as benevolence, righteousness, etiquette, wisdom and faith, are very familiar, which is Chinese characteristics. Now there is a system of village officials for university students, which is a new thing. This method may be good for some villages, but it may not be suitable for all villages, and it cannot be one-size-fits-all. China's rural problems are thick and complex, some of which can be solved with new knowledge, and some of which cannot be solved well, or in other words, cannot be solved.

Another example is the word "empty".

This word has a bit to do with the Buddha and is very elegant. There are two basic meanings of emptiness, the first layer on the surface is no, empty city, empty house, "bamboo shoots in the mountains, thick skin in the mouth, hollow belly". The deep layer is there, and there is a big one. There are many things in the sky and more in space, but our wisdom is limited, and the things we perceive are very limited. There is a local saying in Xi'an, which describes people who are deeply hidden, very vivid, and very expressive, "Don't look at that person empty-handed, just think that he didn't take it."

Emptiness also has the direction of the upper realm, "the old monk enters the meditation" and "sees that the five aggregates are empty", which is the indication. There is a Zen public case, a great monk in the Tang Dynasty called Huizhong Zen Master, a disciple of the sixth ancestor Huineng, who has been a national teacher of Xuanzong, Suzong, and Daizong. When Su Zong first ascended the throne, he gave Zen Master Huizhong two proficiency tests, and then he was convinced. The first time was a chat, Su Zong asked Hui Zhong: "What did the national teacher learn from the six ancestors back then?" Hui Zhong looked up into the distance and said, "Do you see the clouds in the sky?" "Yes, there are many." "Please cut a piece down, frame it, and let me hang it on the wall." ”

This chat made Su Zong not very happy in his heart, and he felt that the question he asked was not level. After some time, a monk came from India who knew how to do it. During the Tang Dynasty, the status of monks from India was very high, equivalent to the Communist Party from the Soviet Union during the Yan'an period to understand Marxism-Leninism. This feudal monk is also remarkable, and he has the kung fu of "his heart". "He has a heart" means that when he looks at you, he knows what you think in his heart. Su Zong arranged for the two eminent monks to meet and test each other's water depth. After the two met and exchanged polite greetings, Huizhong asked, "I heard that the national teacher has the magic power of 'his heart'?"

"I understand a little, I have to ask you for advice. ”

"Please see where I am?"

"You are the master of a country, why did you go to Xichuan to row?"

After a pause, Huizhong asked again, "What now?"

"You're going to the east again, watching the monkeys on the Tianjin Bridge in Luoyang. ”

"Please look at it now. Zen Master Huizhong sat upright and his face was calm.

The Indian monk looked at it for a long time, got up to give a salute, and retreated. The method of "his heart" lies in capturing people's thoughts, and the heart is moving, and as soon as the thief makes a move, he will be caught by the police. People live thoughts, and everything starts with thoughts. All thoughts are lost, which means that a person is tired of life and thinks about nothing anymore. The old monk settled, and the cultivator did not move his mind, the thief did not act, and the police had no choice. Zen Master Huizhong settled, his mind was silent, and the scene in front of the Indian monk was like watching the sea, boundless. Zen Buddhism is a product of the "sinicization" of Indian Buddhism after it entered China, and it has risen to a higher level and a great level. "He Xintong" is a serious kung fu in Indian Buddhism, but in Chinese Buddhism, it is regarded as a "side-door way" and does not fall into the big way. We also often talk about the "Sinicization" of Marxism, and the "Sinicization" of foreign things takes time and, even more, wisdom.

It is one level to dissolve the text, but it will go to a higher level after it is dissolved. Culture and chemistry are mutually reinforcing and mutually reinforcing. Sun Xingzhi's legal name is Wukong, and Sun Monkey is very capable, but it is not enough to be capable, he also needs to go to the realm.
