Chapter 244: Little Citizen

William, a taxi driver in New York City, drives the streets in a yellow taxi. In a sprawling city like New York, where public transportation is the lifeblood that keeps the city running — you can't expect 25,000 million people to drive out — the city would be paralyzed without public transportation.

After all, the city's transportation hub can't afford tens of millions of people to drive at the same time, even if all roads are doubled.

New York is probably the most taxi-developed city in the United States. Bright yellow taxis carry the TAXI sign through the city.

Although it is becoming more and more difficult to obtain a taxi license nowadays, it is also becoming more and more difficult to get a taxi in the city. But the income of taxi drivers has not increased significantly. Because of the advent of special cars (express cars) and the like, the life of taxis is not so easy.

Chauffeurs earn close to $27 an hour, while taxi drivers generally earn around $22 an hour. This income is really not high.

And taxis can meet all kinds of passengers, so driving a taxi is not a good job. The people who do this are also mainly ethnic minorities.

William is an outlier because he is one of the few white drivers willing to work night taxis. Night shift rentals in New York City make more money than during the day, but they are also much more dangerous.

Because you don't know what kind of passenger you're carrying. Are they regular night workers, or are they nightclub cafes, or are they guys who shuttle back and forth at night clubs to serve [edible ice]?

Night drivers need to be a little more agile and know how to communicate with people who might be gang members. Otherwise, you may not be able to pay the fare and be given a bullet.

Of course, this should be said to be a thing of the past. Night shift drivers in New York City are now much safer. William thanked New York City for secretly protecting the superheroes.

Ah, this superhero certainly doesn't include Iron Man. That kind of high-flying superhero has nothing to do with a small citizen like him. Of course, his thirteen-year-old son loved it. So William had to save money from his cigarettes every month, and it took him four months to save more than $500.

Then at Christmas, I bought my son a hottoys model of Iron Man. Such an expensive toy had a feeling that made his heart bleed. But for the sake of the child, he still endured.

But that's it, anyway, since spending so much money on Iron Man's toys, William has hated Iron Man more and more.

For example, now that he is driving on the viaduct and can see the landmark of Manhattan in the distance, the Stark Industries Building, he can't help but whisper: "Vampire! So rich people have to grab a lot of money in the toy market! Tony Stark is literally sucking the blood of our little citizens!"

For Tony Stark, William's accusations are like "people sit at home, pots come from heaven". Although the image of Iron Man is Tony's, he has been licensed to Marvel.

Out of comics, out of games, and the Iron Man movie that's being filmed. Marvel is responsible for all of this. This naturally includes the licensing of peripheral products.

Although Tony received a share, he basically donated it to the Children's Leukemia and Cancer Foundation. After all, as the leader of the world's best cosmeceutical products, Tony still doesn't care too much about this share.

His main direction of making money now is almost all from the cosmeceutical products of the Shuguang Group: Shuguang 101 and Shuguang Magic Water, as well as other sub-products with these two as the main line.

Selling hair growth lotion is better than selling arms, and selling skin care lotion is far better than selling drugs. Even Tony's wife, Ms. Pepp, is now focusing on the Dawning Group, Tony's wholly-owned subsidiary. Because Pepp wants to make sure that Tony's heroic career doesn't drag him down to bankruptcy.

Of course, none of this was known to William, the taxi driver. All he knows is that he can only earn more than $200 a night (net income after excluding miscellaneous expenses such as taxi rentals).

Pay taxes, the family's medical insurance and social security and basic family expenses, as well as children's tuition fees and monthly property taxes (the fees that need to be paid on time after buying a house in the United States, if you don't pay, you will be forced to repossess the house land.) Property tax is not a loan, but a tax. After that, he barely had much money left.

And the little money he earned still needs to be left to fulfill his children's Christmas wishes. How hard is it to run the night shift without smoking?

So William doesn't like Iron Man, very much. No matter how much you brag about Tony Stark on TV about changing the world or something. None of that has anything to do with him.

"It didn't change my life, did it?" said William.

In fact, the heroes he really loves and thanks to are Spider-Man, the League of the Night's Watch, and the League of Justice!

Spider-Man roams the city fighting fires and solving some things that the police and fire brigade don't have time to solve. For example, a sudden fire or something. Spider-Man has saved a lot of lives.

Ah, and the Night's Watch. Because of the night shift drivers, William always carried some strange passengers, and he had heard of the organization from the few words of some people. It seems to be a group of people led by the Nightkin

They specialize in cracking down on the underground gangsters in New York, and now organized and large-scale gangs are becoming more and more difficult to mix. They do things with vigor and speed, much faster than the police. Now some people have begun to lament that there are only a bunch of gangsters left in New York, and that the real gangsters have become unsurvivable.

William was very happy about this. Because in the past year, he has been renting night shifts, and he can clearly feel that the security in New York City has improved.

And then there's the Justice League. This group of people are real ordinary citizens, and maybe some have special abilities. But most people don't. They don't have the power to save the world, but they can save the community.

For example, William's community has a similar small organization. Everyone was inspired by the heroic stories, and more and more people came forward. They spontaneously began to maintain law and order in the community and clean up the environment.

The small community park, which had fallen into disrepair, was renovated, and everyone was up to help. There is also a brand new street fence, which is also made by everyone. Sweep up fallen leaves and snow together.

Just because of an opportunity, William felt that everyone was back to the era when they were willing to help each other and trust each other.

With a smile on his face tonight (except when he passed by Stark Industries), William drove the taxi and didn't pick up any passengers tonight.

He wasn't going to make money tonight because he had other things to do. Why did William work a night shift rental job? Because he was a mutant, it was hard for him to find a job that would accept him.

So the night shift rental is a bit hard and dangerous, but at least he can support his family. Sometimes William had to endure in order to live.

Although life and society seem to be starting to develop in a better direction now. But he always had a heart problem. What about his son?

He didn't want his children to grow up in a discriminatory environment. Every time he thought about it, he couldn't sleep.

And now maybe things have taken a turn for the better!Tuvalu, a country he hadn't heard of, a mutant country?!

William and his group of mutant friends have made an appointment to discuss their future.
