Li Zhuying gave Hou Ming several volumes of scriptures, including several volumes of martial arts, which contained the method of inducing qi to refine the gods and tempering the physical body. In the practice of Xuanmen, there is a saying that refining and refining gas, refining gas and transforming gods, refining gods and returning voids, and refining voids and combining the way.

These volumes of martial arts scriptures were specially compiled by Li Zhuying for the disciples of the professor, which recorded the one hundred and eight changes of heaven and earth, and the nine turns of Xuangong adapted by the master of the Tongtian Sect, in addition, there are several volumes of the Heart Cultivation Sutra such as "Tao Te Ching" and "Taishang Induction Chapter".

These are the orthodox practices of Xuanmen.

Xuanmen talks about the dual cultivation of life, not only self-cultivation, but also mental cultivation. Sex refers to the inner Tao of all beings, that is, the mind, thought, disposition, character, spirit, etc. Life, on the other hand, refers to the external Tao of sentient beings, i.e., body, life, energy, destiny, matter, etc.

The dual cultivation of life refers to the 'cultivation of both gods and forms'.
