Chapter 207: Spring Festival Spring Festival Couplets
Chinese New Year is the most important festival for Chinese people, whether you are thousands of miles away or in a foreign country, you will always find a way to come back and reunite with your family after the New Year. Isn't the busyness and rush of the four seasons to reunite with the family and live a happy and healthy life?
The Chinese New Year is the happiest time for the Chinese people. For children born in the countryside, the Chinese New Year means new clothes, New Year's money, delicious sweets, delicious delicacies that can be eaten all year round, and of course, endless excitement.
During the Chinese New Year, no matter how you play, no matter how many fox friends you go to hang out, no matter what new ways to play, your parents will never urge you to hurry up and work, because at this point in time, even if there is more farm work, you have to put it down, and generally speaking, you will not break ground until after the Lantern Festival.
Breaking ground is a very important thing, and you can't just go down to the ground with a hoe, but you need sacrifices, and you need grains to sacrifice to your ancestors and gods.
Of course, it is also necessary to sacrifice during the New Year, and sacrifice is the most important living custom of the Chinese people, whether in the city or in the countryside, but it is not the same in various places, but most of them are similar.
There is another very important thing for the New Year, that is, to paste Spring Festival couplets.
Chen Shi couldn't write calligraphy, and no one in the family could write, so he wanted to find someone to write the couplet, but his mother and father took out the couplet they had bought a long time ago and gave it to him, saying, "I have been ready for a long time, and now as long as I have money, I can buy anything." ”
Chen Shi nodded and smiled, and then hurriedly pasted the Spring Festival couplets. I don't know who thought of this Spring Festival couplet, there are all kinds of them, such as: determined to fly the dragon into the sky, and create a colorful phoenix because of the clouds. Also, Taiyun Hong opened a prosperous house, and the wealth was widely entered into the prosperous family. Wait, countless, in short, all good words can be written in the Spring Festival, what a source of wealth is wide! Wishing you prosperity and so on.
Chen Shi pasted paste on both sides of the door, and then used to stand on a stool, he carried the top of the couplet, Li Yalian and his sister Chen Ying pulled the bottom, and then he asked if the two were crooked.
The little sister Chen Ying had to push back a few steps to see clearly, and she said, "Point on the left, point on the right." From time to time, he pointed.
Spring Festival couplets, also known as "spring stickers", "door pairs", "couplets", it depicts a beautiful image with neat, concise and exquisite words, expresses good wishes, and is a unique literary form in China. There is no limit to the number of words in the upper and lower couplets, but they must be equal. Both sides of the couplet should correspond to each other. The Spring Festival couplets used to be peach symbols, which are an important symbol of the Spring Festival for Chinese people. When people paste Spring Festival couplets and blessings on their doorsteps, it means that the Spring Festival officially kicks off. Yu Yafei's "Welcoming the New Year" said: "The joy is coming to the door, and every household sticks Spring Festival couplets; Wang Anshi's "Yuan Ri" "In the sound of firecrackers, the spring breeze sends warmth into Tusu." Thousands of households always replace the new peach with the old one. "Every Spring Festival, whether in the city or in the countryside, every household has to pick up beautiful red spring couplets and paste them on the door, bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, and increase the festive atmosphere. Traditionally, couplets are written with a brush, but now they are usually made with a machine on the outside. There are many types of Spring Festival couplets, such as street door pairs, house door pairs, etc.
Originated from the peach charm (rectangular peach wood planks hung on both sides of the gate in the Zhou Dynasty). According to the Book of Etiquette of the Later Han Dynasty, the peach charm is six inches long and three inches wide, and the names of the great gods "Shen Tu" and "Yu Lei" are written on the peach wood board. "On the first day of the first lunar month, the peach charm is in the household, the name is immortal, and the ghosts are afraid. Therefore, the Qing Dynasty's "Yanjing Shi Sui Ji" recorded: "The Spring Festival couplets are peach charms." "During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, in the court, someone inscribed couplets on the peach symbol. "History of the Song Dynasty and the Shu Family" said: Later Shu lord Meng Chang ordered the bachelor Xin Yinxun to inscribe the peach board, "with its non-work, pretentious pen inscription: 'New Year's Yuqing, Jiajie Changchun', this is China's first Spring Festival couplet." However, different historical sources of the Song Dynasty have different accounts of this, and some say that it was written by Xin Yinxun or Meng Chang's son Meng Zhe. Until the Song Dynasty, the Spring Festival couplets were still called "peach symbols". In Wang Anshi's poems, there is a sentence "Thousands of households always replace the new peach with the old one". In the Song Dynasty, the peach charm was changed from peach wood board to paper, called "spring sticker" and "spring couplet". This custom began in the Song Dynasty and became popular in the Ming Dynasty, and in the Qing Dynasty, the ideological and artistic qualities of the Spring Festival couplets have been greatly improved.
The Spring Festival is the "first of the hundred festivals" of the Chinese nation. In Chinese historical civilization, there are many customs to celebrate the Spring Festival, and the most widely preserved customs in Chinese folk, especially in rural areas, are the Spring Festival couplets and the door gods. Sticking Spring Festival couplets is the first thing that Chinese people celebrate the Spring Festival. Whenever the Spring Festival is approaching, every household sticks brand new Spring Festival couplets on both sides of the gate, with black characters on a red background, steady and bright. Expressing the good wishes of a family for the New Year, such as "the six animals are prosperous, the five grains are abundant", etc.; or related to the Chinese nation's cadre and branch culture, the Spring Festival couplets are embedded with the names of zodiac objects such as "rat", "ox", "tiger", "rabbit", "dragon", "snake", "horse", "sheep", etc., such as "koi fish fly to reward the ambition; auspicious sheep kneel to feel kindness"; some spring festival couplets also pay attention to reflecting the different "happiness concepts" of different industries and different families. Therefore, carefully studying the Spring Festival couplets posted by people during the Spring Festival is undoubtedly a meaningful way to observe folk customs.
When exactly did the custom of sticking Spring Festival couplets originate, there is no accurate material to verify. However, it may have started in the Later Shu period more than a thousand years ago, which can be confirmed in historical records. In addition, according to the "Wang Candle Treasure Book", "Yanjing Years Chronicles" and other works, the original form of the Spring Festival couplets is what people call "peach symbols".
After pasting the Spring Festival couplets, Chen Shi also has to paste the blessing, this is very simple, just paste the blessing word upside down on the door.
The word "fu" is interpreted as "happiness", whereas in the past it meant "good fortune" or "good fortune". The Spring Festival sticks the word "Fu", which entrusts people's yearning for a happy life and wishes for a better future. In order to more fully embody this yearning and wishes, the Chinese people simply pasted the word "Fu" upside down, indicating that "happiness has arrived" and "blessing has arrived".
There is also a legend that the word "Fu" is pasted upside down in Chinese folk. Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang used the word "Fu" as a secret mark to prepare to kill. In order to eliminate this disaster, the kind-hearted queen ordered all the families in the city to paste the word "Fu" on their doors before dawn.
Naturally, no one dared to disobey the queen's will, so the word "Fu" was posted on the door of every house. Among them, one family was illiterate, and even pasted the word "Fu" upside down. The next day, the emperor sent people to check on the street and found that the word "Fu" was pasted on every house, and the word "Fu" was pasted upside down in another family. The Emperor was furious when he heard the report, and immediately ordered the Imperial Guards to behead the family. As soon as the queen saw that things were not good, she hurriedly said to Zhu Yuanzhang: "That family knows that you are visiting today, and deliberately pasted the word "Fu" upside down, doesn't this mean "Futo"?" As soon as the emperor heard that it made sense, he ordered the release of the people, and a catastrophe was finally eliminated. Since then, people have pasted the word "Fu" upside down, one is to seek good luck, and the other is to commemorate the queen.
Chinese folk also have the word "Fu" delicately depicted into a variety of patterns, the patterns have longevity peach, carp jumping dragon gate, five grains harvest, dragon and phoenix Chengxiang and so on. In the past, there was a saying among Chinese folk that "on the twenty-fourth day of the lunar month, every family writes big characters", and the word "Fu" used to be mostly handwritten.
Usually there are two pairs of straight couplets and one horizontal couplet, and the last word of each straight couplet has a sound rhyme such as flat, up, go, and enter (close to the national sound four-tone method, but there are differences).
Paste the Spring Festival couplets, Chen Shi began to clean the house under the leadership of his parents, no matter where the house has to be cleaned, this is the last day of the year, of course, to sweep clean, with the cleanest, spotless house to welcome the new year, but also with a new attitude to welcome the new year, to meet the future.
In previous years, the New Year pig had to be killed, but this year because his family had already moved to the city to live, so there was no pig killing, the pig raised at home had already been sold when the father went to the city, and not killing the New Year's pig actually did not have much impact, because the things that the family needed were brought back in the city, the only thing lacking was bacon, however, at this time, there were not many people with bacon at home, because the pig had just been killed, and the bacon had not been dried, and there was not much difference from fresh meat.
Bacon is not used for the New Year, but stored for next year, there is no vegetable market in the countryside, if you want to eat some meat, you will not save it, and there is also a point that most of the oil eaten in the countryside is lard, although it is not as good as the botanical garden, but there is no harm.
In the countryside, after killing pigs, oil must be refined, and some of the lard oil is cut into pieces and then refined into oil residue, which is a very good thing to eat hot pot, but unfortunately, he can't eat oil residue this year.
However, Chen Shi doesn't have much nostalgia for this, he can live a city life, he can eat whatever he wants, even if he can make bacon himself, even if it is troublesome, he can buy it in the village, he believes that as long as he speaks, relatives and friends nearby will definitely rush to give it to him, as for asking for money, it is estimated that Chen Shi does not want to give it to others.
Therefore, he did not mean to say to others that he wanted to buy bacon, his idea was to wait for the New Year to buy some fresh meat to make it, put it in his hometown, and take a little when he wanted to eat it, and a piece could be eaten for several months. This meat is not a meal, and it will definitely be boring after eating one or two meals, so it is enough to eat bacon once every ten days and half a month.
After cleaning the house, my mother was going to cook the New Year's dinner, my sister and Li Yalian helped to help, but my little sister was hiding and being lazy, regardless of the fact that because she was the youngest, no one would blame her, except for the occasional words of the mother, everyone did not speak.
Therefore, the little sister is even more arrogant, she is lawless at home, as long as her mother is not there, she is definitely the master of the family, she can be coquettish in front of her father, she can play tricks in front of Chen Shi, she can talk back in front of her sister, she is absolutely strong in front of her younger brother, and she almost doesn't have to worry about it in front of Li Yalian, because Li Yalian will never reprimand her.
