97 Night falls
The ground on which Catherine was located had been rising along the mountain for a day and a night. The ground is like a wriggling carpet that crawls over the steep straight mountain wall.
The strange palm monster, for a day and a night, prostrate on the ground, prayed to his gods.
As a result of the long hours of non-stop prayer, Catherine was gradually able to be distracted from doing other things than reading.
The mage discovered that the place they were in was actually a block of ice peeling off from a narrow section between the forest and the peak, driven by some magical force, carrying Catherine and the Palm Monster to the top of the mountain.
Catherine only needs to recite four prayers to receive the blessing of "my god" and move freely on the surface of the ice that is perpendicular to the horizontal. The female mage used the simplest method to test the area of the entire ice cube, which was about twenty paces from the front and back, to the left and right. The place where the palm monster crawls is the center of this ice block.
Catherine was intrigued by the peculiarly shaped creature, but she did not dare to disturb the prayers of the "devout believers" for fear that the ice carrying them would fall from mid-air.
After a long journey of one day and one night, the whole block of ice has climbed to unprecedented heights. But the mountain in front of me still seems to be reluctant to show its full picture. The journey shows no end in sight, and there is no place for the summit at all.
In the white sky, there is no place to focus. The ice cubes seem to be moving aimlessly on a road to heaven with no end.
The scenery down the hill was not bad, the black forest was now the size of a palm, and it was shaped like a four-fingered palm. At the moment, this does not seem like a coincidence. Because this world is full of things related to the shape of the palm.
For example, Catherine also saw creatures flying through the air, some of them in groups, fluttering in clusters, and some of them were so large that they were almost like dragons. But one thing these creatures have in common is that they all grow into the shape of palms, just like the palm monster in prayer.
If anything, it's that the difference is that between the fingers of these palm-shaped creatures, there is a membrane of flesh that is used for flight.
As the ice blocks got taller and higher, the flying creatures that appeared in the sky grew larger. And the most incredible thing for the female mage is the arrival of "night".
When a shadow overshadows the sky, the night of this world has arrived. There were no stars or moon in the night sky, and howling winds blew from high in the sky. The wind swept like a blade, causing the mage's cheeks to ache. Her eyes were so blown that she couldn't even open them, she couldn't even pronounce prayers, and every word that reached her throat would blow back to the wind.
Catherine's whole body was cold, and her whole body was like grass fluttering in the wind, as if it would be swept away by the wind at any moment. So the female mage had no choice but to lie on the ice again, holding her head in her hands and her mouth down, and praying hard.
"Our God is omnipresent, My God is omnipotent, My God creates everything, Our God gives hope. ”
She regained her warmth, and her body stabilized in the raging wind. The night lasted for an unknown amount of time, until the light came again.
It was at this moment that Catherine, who was struggling in the night wind, hurriedly looked up. She was amazed at the huge shadow that was slowly fading away in the sky. "Is that what the night is really like?" The shock was so great that the magestress forgot to even recite the prayer, and she almost suffocated for a moment.
If it weren't for the crumbling danger alerting her, Catherine might have dropped the ice. In short, the female mage could not believe what she was seeing, and her eyes stared at the shadow farther and farther away, and she did not even dare to take a breath of air.
The journey is monotonous and uninteresting, and Catherine is neither hungry nor tired. The female mage thought more than once that if she continued to pray like this, she might be able to live forever.
Every day, Catherine sat cross-legged on the ice and mechanically chanted words. She didn't even have the interest to walk around and observe. She could sit motionless for a whole day with her eyes closed, like a stone statue.
The only thing that could make the female mage react was the arrival of the huge and incomparable "night". However, after several observations, Catherine's nerves have long been numb. The giant flying palm monster she called "Night" was nothing more than a strange creature with a larger head in the eyes of the female mage.
Time passed day by day, and the female mage's body and mind were fully engaged in prayer. The gray forest below was now the size of a needle, and it would be impossible to find it in the blink of an eye. There were no other flying palm-shaped creatures in the sky, and the world became more and more empty. Catherine felt as if she was getting closer to the "god of our".
Finally, one day, the mage stood up from the ice and stopped to recite the prayer, but she was still able to stand still with no signs of falling. Catherine's bare skin was already covered with tiny characters and shifting patterns of those characters.
These characters and motifs endure for a long time, and without the support of prayer, they still float on the surface of the female mage's body, emitting a soft white light. Catherine looked so holy and so sparkling. She stared into the distance, her face joyless and sad. No one knew what she was staring at, no one knew what she was thinking. As if she was born to stop here silently, the holy female mage has been waiting for thousands of years.
A breeze blew in the distance in the sky, and it blew in front of Catherine, playfully pulling at the hem of the mage's robe. However, as it climbed up the robe and onto Catherine's shoulder, it found that it could not move the small strand of hair that swept there.
The mischievous boy was reluctant to make a fuss, and he desperately tried to pull one of the female mage's hair. But the poor boy could not do anything, and he circled around Catherine, making a "whine" cry.
This provoked the child's short-term parents, and the wind blowing in the sky slowly became arrogant. The female mage's robe made a hunting sound, and the wind blew the ice layer by layer, turning into countless powders and scattering in all directions.
It didn't take long for the block of ice, which had been carrying Catherine and the Palm Monster for days, to quickly diminish and disintegrate in the wind, and soon only the two small pieces of land under the female mage and the Palm Monster remained.
None of this affected the mage's gaze, though, and she seemed completely unaware of the changes around her. Even the palm monster that was prostrate on the ground and had been praying sincerely for so many days did not react at all.
The wind roared in exasperation, and Catherine and the devout followers' path came to an abrupt end. They stood abruptly at the end of their journey, the summit of this incomparable mountain.
The top of the mountain was at the feet of the two of them, the same size as where they had landed, and at their feet was a cliff, and there was no way back or way. But the mage stood still in the wind, no different from standing on the vast expanse.
At the end of the sky, an inconspicuous black dot emerged. It seemed to be slow and fast, expanding at a speed that was recognizable to the naked eye. There seemed to be a discordant dark cloud between heaven and earth, and this dark cloud rolled and surged, and in a short time it covered most of the sky. The huge shadow it casts has torn apart the whole world. Darkness swallows up light, and light retreats step by step.
Ah, night has come again!
