Chapter 189: The Rise of the Dark Lord (Part 1)
On the narrow starlight path, a thin figure wearing a hood walked through dense and low thorns.
From time to time, there was the sound of frogs chirping and silkworms chirping, and his pace was very fast, and it was only when he came to an ornate iron gate that he raised his head alertly.
He took off the hood from his head, revealing an emaciated face and a large hooked nose, and his empty eyes stared at the knocker on the iron door.
"Password?" The knocker looked like the head of a Welsh green dragon, and it made a hoarse sound.
"Pureblood supremacy!" Severus Snape said coldly.
The door creaked open, and Snape stepped into the manor...... He followed a path made of stones, through a purple hedge, and at the end of the road a palatial mansion flashed out of the darkness of the night.
"Who is it!" an alert female voice came from the gate of the house, "Oh...... Severus ......"
Narcissa Malfoy breathed a sigh of relief, she took a few steps forward to Snape's side, and lowered her voice, "You're four hours late......"
"I was about to explain this to the Dark Lord, Narcissa!" Snape's voice was not high, but he didn't deliberately lower it, "Can you take me to him?"
"Okay, you come with me......"
The hallway is wide, dimly lit but lavishly decorated, with ornate carpets on the stone floor.
As Lady Malfoy led Snape down the hallway, the pale statues on the walls stared at them intently.
They made it all the way to the basement door of the manor, where Narcissa Malfoy stopped and glanced at Snape, "The Dark Lord is inside!"
......
There was a long and ornate table in the basement, surrounded by people, but they were all silent. A dark green flame erupted from the marble fireplace, plunging the basement into less complete darkness, but more eerie.
"Look who's coming, Severus-Snape!" a clear, high-pitched voice came from the table, "Wormtail, move a chair for Severus!"
In the light of the fire, the speaker had a pale, snake-like face, and at the same time the nose was barely visible.
A short wizard heard Voldemort's orders...... He hurriedly moved a bench and placed it at the end of the long table.
Snape ignored the bench, he walked straight up to Voldemort, got down on one knee, kissed his robe, and took a few steps back.
"You're four hours late, Snape!" shouted a black-haired wizard on Voldemort's right hand, looking a little grizzled and with a fresh scar on his face.
"Yes, Avery...... Because it took me four hours to tell Dumbledore about the changes to the Dark Devil's mark, and then I followed his orders and got back here!" Snape said, bowing gracefully to Voldemort.
"Dumbledore......" Avery looked a little angry.
"This is the mission the Dark Lord gave me!" Snape said with a smile, then looked up into Voldemort's eyes, "Thirteen years ago, when you last summoned me. ”
Voldemort's red eyes were fixed on Snape's hollow eyes.
After a moment, he smiled, "Nott, pour Severus a glass of pumpkin juice." ”
The Death Eater, Not, got up from his position, took a jug from his pocket, and poured the liquid into a wine glass.
Then he waved his wand and was flown towards Snape.
Snape, who took the glass, picked it up and drank it without hesitation.
Voldemort nodded to Avery and began to close his eyes.
"Snape, where did you go when the Dark Lord lost power?" said Avery viciously.
"I was where the Dark Lord ordered me to go, at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, because he wanted me to spy on Albus Dumbledore there. Snape replied calmly.
"And how did you survive under Dumbledore?"
"Because Dumbledore thought I was his man...... He thinks I've 'repented' for my 'mistakes'......" Snape let out a sneer as he said, "Dumbledore's greatest weakness, he is prone to unreserved trusts!"
"And who are you really loyal to?"
"There is no doubt that I will serve the Dark Lord to the death......" Snape said with a serious face, "since the age of eleven, it has never changed!"
Avery wanted to go on......
"That's enough!" Voldemort interrupted him rudely.
"Severus, you've been at Hogwarts for thirteen years......" Voldemort reopened his eyes.
"Dumbledore trusts me, master......" Snape whispered, "I've found out a lot of secrets over the years, about that boy Harry Potter, and what other prophecy ......"
Snape glanced at Avery and the other Death Eaters with some trepidation, then leaned into Voldemort's ear and began to speak in his smallest voice!
......
Ten minutes later...... Snape stopped whispering.
Voldemort looked at him gently, took his hand, and pulled him to his feet.
"Welcome back, Severus!" he said elegantly.
"I'm honored, my master!" said Snape, excited.
"Avery go sit on the stool that Wormtail just moved!" Voldemort ordered coldly.
Avery was stunned for a moment, but he immediately stood up obediently, not daring to disobey Voldemort's orders.
"Severus, you sit on my right-hand side!" Voldemort gestured to where Avery had just been.
Snape sat down, and Lucius Malfoy on the other side exchanged glances with him.
Like Avery, Malfoy was a little disgraced, as if he had just fought a battle.
However, Snape glanced at the opposite side with some confusion, and there was no one on Voldemort's left hand side.
Voldemort seemed to see through his thoughts, and explained with a smile, "It belongs to my most loyal servant, he is still at Hogwarts, and it is thanks to his efforts that I can reappear to you...... Of course, he'll be back to me right away!"
"Looks like we're all here!" Voldemort glanced at the crowd, "It's just one missing, and I think Karkaroff should be leaving us forever...... He will be put to death......"
There was a small commotion among the Death Eaters, who secretly exchanged glances.
"Of course, the rest, you!" Voldemort continued, "and you will be rewarded by me!"
"Alright, let's start the meeting now!"
