Chapter 52: George Stancy's Troubles
George Stancy. Pen's www.biquge.info deputy chief of the New York City Police Department, with a focus on the administration of Queens and assistance in the management of Upper Manhattan. This is a veteran police officer who has been a police officer for nearly 30 years.
In the years since he became the sheriff of Queens, the law and order situation in Queens has actually improved dramatically. Although it is impossible to completely isolate crime, the number of serious cases such as homicide and shooting has dropped significantly.
And drug dealers rarely trade drugs in Queens, and this kind of crime in Queens is at most to catch a few guys selling marijuana. The sale of marijuana is banned in New York, but the penalties for selling marijuana are not severe.
It's usually dozens of hours of community service and a fine.
George is a slick but extremely moral cop. If he wasn't tactful, he wouldn't be able to be the deputy chief of the New York City Police Department.
George Stancy is more old-fashioned and somewhat serious. As one of the most powerful people in all of New York City, George has a non-angry demeanor when he is not smiling.
It's just that the veteran cop has had some troubles in recent months. His daughter, Gwen Stancy, whom he regarded as the jewel of his palm, was in love. Well, Gwen is going to be eighteen soon, and for a girl of this age, falling in love is not a big deal.
Mainly, George, the object of Gwen's love, is not very satisfied. Peter Parker, a poor boy from Queens, whose family is almost exhausted to support him in a self-interested high school, is not that George looks down on poor boys.
You must know that before he made his career, he worked as a lowest-level police officer for nearly ten years. At that time, he knew every guy with a criminal record in his jurisdiction.
He was able to rise from the bottom and rise all the way up to the top of New York City, and he believes that other young people who are working at the bottom can do the same.
It's just that he doesn't know why he didn't like Peter Parker so much when he first saw him. Peter has a bit of a flamboyant tongue and often says things out of tune.
George hopes that his daughter can find a more stable boy to fall in love with.
Although Gwen repeatedly assures him that Peter only speaks a little whimsically at times, he is still very reliable. He was also appreciated by Dr. Connors and was also very effective in science.
But George never believed that Peter was really as good as Gwen said. Women in love are always stupid, and he is always afraid that Gwen has been deceived by this kid.
However, Gwen has always been a child with opinions, and even her parents can't change what she believes in. Since she decided that Peter would be her boyfriend, George had no choice but to accept it.
Because if Gwen's temper really gets upset, she'll just leave home and move outside. You know, she used to work as an intern at the Osborne Group for a salary, which is different from other interns.
She has a deposit of her own, which is even enough for her expenses for a year or two. She could completely break away from the family's finances and go out to live independently.
If Gwen did move out, or even move in with Peter Parker, it would be the worst thing that would happen to George.
So as a father, he can only repeatedly warn his daughter to keep a clear head at all times. Don't run away with someone because of a few sweet words from a boy.
Of course, in addition to family matters, George also has a lot of worries at work. One of the most annoying are the superheroes who operate in the precinct.
Iron Man doesn't care about street crime, Tony only cares about international events. So Iron Man has nothing to do with George.
The Punisher and the Nightkin are basically going back to the most vicious gangs in the country, including those who sell drugs and arms underground. Gangs of this kind are almost on the verge of being a terrorist organization.
They are very difficult to catch, and it is very difficult to convict them when they are caught. They have been some of George's biggest headaches for criminals. As mentioned earlier, George was a decent cop and he had a great dislike for criminals. Bringing these criminals to justice has always been a responsibility on his shoulders.
So although there is a lot of criticism about the methods of the punisher and the nightkkin, especially since many of the things they do are on the verge of legal vigilance. But George still turned a blind eye to the two of them.
For he knows that sometimes the wicked need to be grinded by the wicked. There are some things that the police can't do openly, but crime does happen, and George hopes that someone will stop it.
In fact, there is only one hero who really annoys George, and that is Spider-Man, who flies around New York City every day. This person is so annoying!
This guy who claims to be a good neighbor to New Yorkers flies around New York City every day looking for street criminals. And George was suspicious of how the guy was listening to the police radio.
Many times the police have just received a report from the police or a criminal, and he can always be the first to arrive at the scene. Or faster than the police.
There have been many times when the police have painstakingly wired to find the location of the criminal gang, only to find that those guys have been tied up with spider-man all with spider silk.
Sometimes Spider-Man will leave a note on the scene. "Don't thank me for my help, your good neighbor: Spider-Man!"
Many cases that the police have been completely sure of have been given by Spider-Man to catch the criminals first.
This makes many police officers who have worked hard for more than half a month, or even months and half a year, for these cases, feel that everything they have done is useless.
It's very, very demoralizing. Let many excellent police officers feel that their efforts are really necessary?
And the worst thing is the outside world's doubts about the police, many people are questioning the recent decline in crime in New York City because of these superheroes.
Some small media outlets who are afraid of chaos in the world have accused the New York police of inaction, and George's subordinates already have several excellent agents who do not want to do it, and they all want to leave their jobs to become instructors in private security companies.
Because Spider-Man did all the work they had to do, it made them feel that the police profession could no longer bring any sense of accomplishment and honor. If it is just to make money, the wages offered by private security companies outside are significantly higher.
What's even more infuriating for George is that his daughter, Gwen Stancy, is also a fan of Spider-Man.
So the two people who make George the most angry right now are Spider-Man and Peter Parker. Thinking of this, George was in a bad mood.
There was a knock on the door, and it was George's assistant who entered.
"Head, here's the material for this year's election. Where do you need to put it?" the assistant was a black woman in her fifties who had been wounded in her position as a front-line police officer.
"Whatever, Nancy. You know I'm just running along. No one expected me to be elected. George waved his hand, motioning for Nancy to put the information wherever she wanted.
"If you are elected, you must know that all of our police departments, and even all of New York's police officers, will support you, and if you are elected mayor of New York, you will definitely be completely different from those other politicians. You're smarter and tougher. "Nancy said this by heart.
But for George, there was some suspicion of flattery, so he shook his head. "Forget it, I don't have anyone behind me, you have to know ......"
At the stall where George was talking to his assistant Nancy, there was a commotion outside.
"You're going to see what's going on?" explained George to Nancy. Nancy nodded and went out, returning after about five minutes.
"A convenience store robbery. Nancy said to George when she returned. "A suspect in a convenience store robbery has just been arrested on charges of robbing a clerk at gunpoint. ”
The noise outside had not stopped, and George frowned. "How much money was robbed?"
"It's only fifteen dollars. Nancy shrugged. And George couldn't help but roll his eyes when he heard this amount. "This idiot, pulling out a gun for a fifteen dollar robbery, does he know how long he has to squat in a cell. ”
"That's the problem, head. He refused to admit to robbery. Because he left a twenty-dollar bill at the scene. But only fifteen dollars were taken. So he insisted that he was just asking the clerk for change. ”
"Huh?" Nancy's words opened George's eyes a bit.
"And he was caught by Spider-Man, and he's now clamoring to sue Spider-Man. Nancy couldn't help but hold her forehead.
