Chapter 245: The Ice Train
glacial train,
One of the most luxurious trains in the world!
SC Johnson looked at the bright red car in front of him, like a hot knife, cutting a lane through the glaciers on the roof of Europe, allowing those deep glaciers, forests, and canyons to be vividly displayed in front of him.
The destination is Switzerland, which is 300 kilometers away, takes 8 hours to walk, and the average speed is 35 km/h, which is only slightly faster than a bicycle. From St. Moritz in the east to Zermatt in the west, it is mainly a glacier viewing route with a top panoramic view.
Walking into the luxury box, the seats are wide and comfortable, and the biggest feature is the panoramic sunroof, which can take in the beautiful scenery outside the window. The most rare is that there is a Chinese introduction throughout the whole process, and whenever you pass by a scenic spot, there will be prompts in Chinese and English on the electronic screen.
From the Upper Alps Pass at 2,033 meters above sea level to Chur at 585 meters above sea level, the drop is nearly 1,500 meters, making it a veritable roller coaster. The journey involves crossing 291 bridges and 91 tunnels.
In particular, the entire line uses narrow-gauge railways, and some of them use racks to travel on steep slopes. The difference between the highest and lowest points is 1,429 meters, and it is common to climb to the top and then dive all the way down......
With the sound of the whistle, the train slowly moved forward, and SC Johnson leaned leisurely on the sofa, holding a glass of Bordeaux in his hand, occasionally eating white chocolate from Yelena, and enjoying the beautiful scenery outside the window.
The train runs to Brig Station, just outside the World Natural Heritage Site of Aletsch Glacier, which covers an area of more than 120 square kilometres. Next to the glacier is an ancient forest of pine trees, like jungle giants, which is awe-inspiring.
Passing through Chur Station, you can see the Rhine Gorge in the upper Rhine. The turquoise water flows slowly along the driveway, as unhurried as a train, and the wind through the canyon seems to slow down a little......
SC Johnson squinted his eyes and the double L-shaped panoramic glass windows that extended to the roof of the car, the sunlight was a little harsh, but the view was wide and bearable.
Take a sip of chocolate, sip of wine, listen to the sound of wheels running over the cog, look at the winding snowy ridges of the Alps, and let the sun shine through the glass windows, maybe the car can drive a little slower, a little slower......
The train is like a journey through time, passing through a tunnel and turning snow-capped mountains into meadows. After passing through a tunnel, the meadow turns into a glacier again.
The theory of relativity loses its effectiveness on the train, and you may be overtaken by an excited sheepdog that rushes into the future, while you temporarily avoid the power of time.
Summer in Switzerland is like a fresh idyll, with Alpine meadows, cows and sheep tired and lazy, and bright skies. Above the clouds, the snow-capped mountains are merciful and holy, as if frolicking in the clouds.
Under the snow-capped mountains is a kind of restrained years of tranquility, that kind of beauty will make you feel that in order to drink a cup of hot tea here, in the future, you are willing to come here again.
Switzerland, the most enviable country in the world, has even heard that immigration is not accepted at all, and every citizen is a natural darling.
Leaving the glacier, blue sky, clouds, snow tops, lakes, forests, meadows, cattle and sheep, streams, ......
Slowly climb over a high mountain, cross a pool of green water, turn the road to the head of the stream, and the small village that appeared in the landscape painting suddenly appears in front of you. Qianmo traffic, chickens and dogs smell each other, there are wild flowers under the east fence, and there is snow on the top of the south mountain, and the restless heart has become peaceful.
Here, you can be old!
Interlaken, located between the Eye of God, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The two eyes, one clear and the other deep, silently watched every visitor to Interlaken.
In the distance, Jungfrau, Schilthorn and Monk's Peak are silent, watching the time together for countless years. In the clear lake, every ripple shimmers. If you are full of resentment, you will take a boat on Lake Thun, the blue lake is calm and unmoving, and the water of the quiet lake is deep......
The medieval-style castle stands quietly on the shore of the lake, and from a distance, it looks like a fairy tale palace floating on the water. It is said that this is also the place where the goddess Audrey Hepburn died.
Choosing a small hillside as a resting place, Hepburn's son said that sorrow accompanied his mother throughout his life. By the beautiful lake, the angel finally slept peacefully, no longer sad.
Lauterbrunnen, in the valley in the distance, is the prototype of the Elven King in The Lord of the Rings. If you are lucky enough to live here, you can listen to the 72 waterfalls in the valley playing a heavenly symphony, and every cicada song and bird call seems to sing in harmony with the waterfalls.
It's no wonder that some people say that small-town life in Switzerland should be beautiful, tranquil and uncontested. It is only in such a town that the insignificant little happiness in life will not be missed.
When you get off the bus in Stein, you finally realize that Switzerland is not only about mountains and lakes, but also about rivers. The Rhine flows through here, and the town is like a jewel floating on the river. Centennial buildings can be seen everywhere on the street, and the frescoes on the walls have been baptized by time and are still bright in color.
In the afternoon, the sun is shining, guarding the Rhine, and the local residents drive small boats and bask in the sun leisurely on the river. The breeze is blowing, the waves are sparkling, and the good mood is gently rippling......
That's life!
Lausanne Belle Palais Royal Hotel, Presidential Suite. I've long heard that Switzerland is the benchmark for modern hospitality, and staying here is a rare pleasure. Whether in the city or in the countryside, the best view location is almost occupied by the hotel, allowing guests to sit on the perfect landscape and nature, and enjoy thoughtful and considerate service.
Standing on a huge observation deck, next to the International Olympic Museum, facing the fantastic Lake Geneva, with a total area of 10 acres of gardens, I also chose to stay here during my recent historic visit to Switzerland.
Giant crystal chandeliers, smooth marble, shiny wooden floors, and large 18th-century handmade frescoes...... The magnificence is great, the comfort is extreme, and the heart is deep.
Noble but relaxed, every inch is full of lazy luxury. Taking advantage of the surrounding geographical environment to the fullest, not only the garden welcomes the sun, the lake and the continuous mountain outline, but also makes each window frame into a mirror frame for landscape painting.
Coming out of the private spa and hungry, head to Le Vaudois, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant with more than 100 stars.
I've eaten cheese, I've eaten hot pot, but it's the first time I've eaten cheese fondue Johnson. I heard that it is still one of the traditional diets in Switzerland?
With the gentle grunt of the smooth cheese in the pot and the faint flickering of the fire at the bottom of the pot, the rich milky aroma of the cheese and the fresh and fruity flavor of the wine slowly waft away, and a small piece of noodles is wrapped in a thick layer of cheese and served in the mouth while it is hot.
The taste buds are rich and fragrant with the bubbles, and the delicate and silky cheese wraps the bread and pulls out the wisps of thin threads, wrapping the tip of the tongue and slowly infusing your body with warmth......
It's wicked!
