Chapter 84 Nature and Cultural Tourism

The first stop, they were taken to the Longshan Temple with the first place temple by Taoist friends, after introduction, they knew that this temple was built in the Qing Dynasty Qianlong three years, when Monga just developed, the environment is treacherous, the plague is frequent, so Quanzhou Sanyi immigrants, will be Fujian Quanzhou Fuanhai Longshan Temple Guanyin Bodhisattva spirit moved here, joint venture to build Longshan Temple. After many times of construction, what is now seen is the appearance of the repair after World War II, the exquisite temple design, can be called a major essence of Taiwan's temple art After many times of construction, they also saw that the exquisite temple design of this temple can be called a major essence of temple art on Taiwan Island. After that, they went in to visit, worship the Buddha, give some alms, and invite back a lot of Buddhist materials before reluctantly leaving.

Of course, seeing the tourists weaving, but also listening to the tourists say that the incense here is super prosperous, and it is very smart to ask for a signature. The architectural shape and interior decoration of the temple are also beautiful and exquisite. There are also many statues of gods enshrined here, Buddha, Bodhisattva, Yue Lao, Hua Tuo and other great gods, and there are counterparts for everything. At this time, they itched their hands again, paid the fee, drew lots, and then they each looked at the lottery in their hands and did not dare to open it, and the master or businessman helped them open it, and also cleverly gave the best answer, and the lottery person left happily.

Outside the door, Daoist friends warned them not to draw lots to play, but there are still some people who just can't help but do those things, Shi Jiaxuan said, don't care, just follow the fate, it doesn't matter.

At the second stop, they went to the temple where Master Sheng Yan was located, the Dharma Drum Mountain Nongchan Temple. This time, the accompanying Taoist friends gave them a more detailed explanation: the temple was first built in 1975, and after the old man passed away in the early East, Master Sheng Yan succeeded to the legal system. Venerable Sheng Yan's expanded Dharma Drum Mountain Nongchan Temple Shuiyue Monastery was officially opened last year and was built by the team of famous Taiwanese architect Yao Renxi. The water moon dojo here is all clear water building, the whole Buddhist hall has no place to burn incense, only to light the lamp instead, "Diamond Sutra", "Heart Sutra" and other Buddhist classics hollow carved on the outer wall of the Buddhist hall, the solemn Buddha hall and the mountain scenery are integrated, it is a new landmark of Buddhist culture and art in Taiwan with the function of "faith tourism" and "religious propagation".

Let me introduce to you that he is a Buddhist master, an educator, a master of Buddhist propagation, a doctor from RB Rissho University, the 50th generation descendant of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism, the 57th generation descendant of the Rinzai sect, and the founder of Dharma Drum Mountain in Taiwan. The concept promoted by the Venerable Master is to improve the quality of people, build a pure land on earth, complete the task of care through education, and achieve the purpose of education with care. He has published nearly 100 books in Chinese, Japanese, and English in Asia, the United States, and Europe. Among his books, the most widely circulated is "Righteous Buddhism", which has more than 3 million copies, the most translated is "Faith Inscriptions", which has 10 titles, and the series with the largest number of volumes are "The Autobiography of Huanyou" and "Meditation Guide", all of which are well received by a wide range of readers. At 4 p.m. on February 3, 2009, Venerable Sheng Yan passed away at the age of 78.

He went on to say that he is also a teacher hired by our European Buddhist Association all the year round, and his writings are also the basic books for us to promote the Dharma in Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia and the Americas.

He said that most of Venerable Sheng Yan's writings in the 50s were collected in the book "Buddhist Culture and Literature". Soon after, he came into contact with Master Taixu's "Buddha becomes Buddha" and Master Yinshun's "Human Buddhism", and wrote many articles on Buddhism one after another, which became the main concept of Buddhism and Buddhism in the future. He was also the editor-in-chief of Life, a publication that advocated "human Buddhism", and he did it for two years. In December 1977, Venerable Sheng Yan inherited the ashram by his master's will and became the head of the Chinese Buddhist Cultural Center. Later, he set up a Zen center in New York, compiled a book entitled "The Experience of Zen" for teaching needs, and published two regular publications in English: Ch'an Magazine (quarterly Zen magazine) and Ch'an Newsletter (monthly Zen Newsletter), and by the end of 1992 the Zen Magazine had published 58 issues and the Zen Newsletter had also published 96 issues. Since 1978, in the Chinese Buddhist Cultural Center and Nongchan Temple in Beitou, Taiwan Island, the meditation activities of young college students and general social people have been held, and seven kinds of works on Zen have been published one after another, including "Zen Life", "Smile of Flowers", "Zen and Enlightenment", etc., because of the deep strength of meditation, so many people at home and abroad regard Master Sheng Yan as a Zen master, and have made great contributions to the promotion of Buddhism.

Except for Shi Jiaxuan, the more than 30 people in this group were on the island for the first time, so they were very fascinated by what they heard, as if they were here to receive Buddhist baptism, and their pious hearts spontaneously arose.

At the third stop, they went to the Taidao Buddhist Academy, where Zhong Yuxiu worked, watched a movie about the propagation of the Dharma by their ancestors, visited several classics of the Buddhist Academy, worshiped a few Bodhisattvas, and each chose some Buddhist works that they had never seen before, and some people also gave some money, went to the hall to kowtow to the Buddha, and cultivated the Buddha's heart for half an hour, before they came out to follow the Taoist friends to watch the graphic introduction of the history of the European Buddhist Association for decades.

Finally, they also listened to Master Zhong explain to them their work and cultivation process. Only then did I go to Shi Jiaxuan's island apartment, Zun Yi Garden, for dinner.

As soon as they came to this small courtyard, they were surprised when they heard that this was the residence of Master Zhong and Shi Jiaxuan, and they couldn't have imagined that there was such a person among the entourage who was both ordinary and cultivated. So they all speculated with each other about the extraordinary experiences of these two, and their thoughts about eating had already been swayed by this question.

We are all curious, can you tell us about it? He said, "It was a chance in my childhood, and it was not intentional, but it was forced by the situation to have the opportunity to learn Buddhism."

He also said, Master Zhong, the Buddhist Association you work for is still not very well paid, how can you still buy such a good courtyard. She smiled and said, "What's the matter?" I have been doing it for more than 20 years, and my monthly salary is only more than 10,000 points, and I can't afford it.

Since the chefs were all pre-invited, they ate very deliciously, and in addition to the northern dishes, they also made five or six southern dishes, which made it possible for both the south and the north to eat well. There is both rice and pasta. This was also done after an advance investigation.

When they found out, they were all impressed by the meticulousness and thoughtfulness of the practitioners. So, the natural and casual beauty of the natural rebirth home. This became a conversation point on their return trip.

The next day, they began their cultural journey to Taiwan. They will see all kinds of relics and cultural relics of Chinese culture such as traditional Chinese characters and Confucian temples every day. That will be another baptism, nostalgia and modern thinking, perhaps about to become a new topic for them.
