Chapter 752: The Vanishing South China Tiger (1/2)

After recovering, Xiao Wang, who was almost pounced on by the tiger, hurriedly thanked Zhang Feng

"Mr. Zhang is so grateful today, if it weren't for you and me...... I'm done!"

"No thanks, as long as you're okay!" Zhang Feng said with a smile.

In that kind of critical time, it is really a desperate moment, he has the ability to save him, of course he has to take action, as the saying goes, saving a life is better than creating a seventh-level floating slaughter, he will definitely not stand by and watch, no matter how he says it, it is also a living human life.

However, Xiao Wang is still very grateful to Zhang Feng, if Zhang Feng hadn't made a move at a critical moment, he would have been seriously injured if he didn't die, so Xiao Wang was really grateful to Zhang Feng in his heart.

Originally, Xiao Wang wanted to invite Zhang Feng to dinner, but he learned that Zhang Feng was the chef of Moon Lake, and those who had eaten the Moon Lake Flowing Water Village banquet knew that Zhang Feng's cooking skills were the best in Qingshan.

So everyone laughed at him and asked him what good things he wanted to invite Zhang Feng to eat?

In this regard, Xiao Wang's face was suddenly blindfolded, and finally he simply gave up the idea of inviting Zhang Feng to dinner, and instead sold some gifts to thank him.

"Okay, everyone pack up their things, then let's go out of the mountain!" Seeing that everyone was almost resting, Uncle Tang waved his hand and led everyone out of the mountain in an orderly manner.

The place where the tiger was found is close to the depths of Qinglong Mountain, which is about fifteen or sixteen miles away from Moon Lake, and it is estimated that there are still about twenty or thirty miles from the deepest part of Qinglong Mountain.

However, the nearby villagers generally only go deep into the mountains and forests for two or three miles, and only special hunters or medicine pickers will go into the mountains for more than ten miles to collect medicine or pick mountain goods.

………………

On the way back, everyone was very happy, and they walked a lot more briskly.

Although there were some small episodes this time, which almost caused casualties, but in the end, the danger was saved and the tiger was successfully found, not only the video of the tiger was captured, but also the tiger's hair, footprints, and even feces and other specimens were collected, which is very important for the experts to further the tiger.

At the same time, everyone was thinking in their hearts that if the wild South China tiger was found this time, it would be a great discovery that shocked the whole of China and the world.

Because according to the large-scale investigation from 00 to 01, there is no trace of South China tiger in the wild in the whole of China, that is, the wild South China tiger has become extinct in the wild.

Therefore, as long as the tiger found today is confirmed to be the South China tiger, then the conclusion that the wild South China tiger has become extinct will be overturned, and then this news will definitely cause a sensation in the whole of China and will surely become a major discovery that shocks the world.

Walking on the road, Zhang Feng was very curious like everyone else, but seeing that everyone was concentrating on the road, Zhang Feng didn't want to disturb the two professors, so he opened the system and began to search for information about South China Tigers.

The South China tiger is also called the Xiamen tiger or the South China tiger.

In 1981, it was included in the CITES Convention Appendix I protection list, also known as the "Chinese tiger".

The head of the South China tiger is round, the ears are short, the limbs are thick and powerful, the tail is long, the chest and abdomen are mixed with more milky white, and the whole body is orange-yellow and covered with black horizontal stripes. The fur has short and narrow stripes, the spacing of the stripes is larger than that of the Bengal tiger and the Siberian tiger, and diamond-shaped stripes often appear on the side of the body, which is smaller in the subspecies of tigers.

The South China tiger feeds on herbivorous wild boars, deer, roe deer, etc., and is one of the top ten endangered animals in China, a national first-class protected animal, and the red species list is critically endangered and extinct in the wild.

The South China tiger is only distributed in China and is a unique tiger subspecies in China.

"I'm going, it's still unique to our country!"

Seeing that the South China tiger is also called the Chinese tiger, Zhang Feng feels that today's discovery is extraordinary, this is the same as the panda, only we have a subspecies, it is really very precious, but unfortunately it has been almost extinct in the wild.

The South China tiger is a small individual and is one of the smallest subspecies of tigers. The male tiger is about 2.5 meters long from head to tail. Weighing about 150 kg, the female tiger is about 2.3 meters long from head to tail, 80-100 cm long at the tail, and weighs about 120 kg.

The fur of the South China tiger has short and narrow stripes, the spacing of the stripes is larger than that of the Bengal tiger and the Siberian tiger, and diamond-shaped stripes often appear on the side of the body. Closer to the direct ancestor of the tiger - the ancient Chinese cat.

The South China tiger is a typical mountain forest animal, living in tropical rainforests and evergreen broad-leaved forests in southern China, and often found in mountain deciduous broad-leaved forests and mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests such as ridges, dwarf forest shrubs and rocky or gravel ponds.

South China tigers used to be found in almost every woodland in China, and they were also the most abundant. Its distribution is far beyond South China, including East China, Central China, and Southwest China, and even individual areas such as southern Shaanxi, Longdong, western Henan, and southern Jinnan. Today, the chances of a South China tiger in the wild are slim to none, and many experts believe that the tiger is extinct in the wild.

According to the incomplete statistics of the annual purchase of tiger skins in China's fur market, in the fifties and sixties of the last century, about two or three thousand tiger skins were purchased.

By the 70s, however, the number of South China tiger purchases had plummeted, to single digits every year, and by the late 70s, the wild South China tiger was nearly extinct.

From 1990 to 1992, the former Ministry of Forestry and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) conducted a nationwide survey of wild South China tigers and their habitats, but no live wild South China tigers were found. However, according to the traces and feces and other evidence found, it is estimated that there were 20-30 South China tigers at the junction of Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian in China at that time. The actual number may be less.

From 2000 to 2001, the State Forestry Administration and F conducted a large-scale survey of wild South China tigers and their habitats, and no wild tigers were found during the search. After this investigation, some foreign scholars believe that the wild South China tiger is extinct. And domestic scholars have not given up a glimmer of hope for the search for wild South China tigers.

In the winter of 2007, the South China Institute of Endangered Animals carried out a field survey of wild South China tigers in northern Guangdong, but no traces of wild South China tigers were found.

In 2008, at the time of the Zhou Tiger incident, an expert investigation team dispatched by the State Forestry Administration also said that there were no wild South China tigers in Zhenping County.

The possibility of a South China tiger in the wild is slim to none. Because the reproduction of species requires the existence of natural populations, natural populations must also maintain a certain number of individuals and maintain sufficient levels of heterozygous genes so that the population will not undergo inbreeding decline due to inbreeding. Since the area where the South China tiger was originally distributed has not been seen for many years, the possibility of finding a South China tiger population is even more remote. As a result, many experts believe that the natural population of the South China tiger is extinct.

As of October 2010, there were about 110 South China tigers in captivity worldwide.

"There are only more than 100 of them raised in captivity!" Seeing this, Zhang Feng was also shocked,

But fortunately, there are still South China tigers in the zoo, because Zhang Feng has always thought that the South China tigers have completely disappeared from the earth.
