Chapter 3: The Hufflepuff Lounge
Since it was the first class of the new semester, Professor Flitwick did not talk about anything else, but began to ask the students to continue the experiment and renew the mantra.
With the precedent of Link's extra points in the front, the students naturally redoubled their efforts to do better.
The students at Ravenclaw College, in particular, are treating it almost as an exam.
It's just a pity that no matter how well they did, Professor Flitwick didn't give them any extra points.
Link didn't sit idle during this time, but continued to cast spells and brush up on the experience of renewing the spell.
By the end of the class bell, he had cast a total of 53 refill spells. Although it was tiring, it also made the experience bar of the refill spell rise to nearly half again.
Based on this, Link speculated that if he wanted to upgrade the Renewal Spell to Lv3, he would need to release it more than fifty times, which means that the experience required to upgrade the spell will increase geometrically.
This is not good news for Link, after all, due to the limitations of his magic power, the number of spells he can cast per day is limited.
With a sigh, Link finished packing up his things and left the classroom with the crowd.
The castle of Hogwarts was huge, and Link had been prepared for this, but when he actually saw it with his own eyes at this moment, he was still shocked by this spectacular scene.
There are all sorts of strange staircases and passages, the most peculiar of which is the suspended staircase in the center of the castle.
It covers a vast area, with countless staircases and platforms flying in mid-air, making it a sight to behold.
If Link was alone, he was sure he would be lost, but fortunately, he still had classmates, and as long as he followed the crowd, Link believed that he would be able to go back to the lounge after all.
And the original owner is obviously not a good memory, Link also accidentally found a note when sorting out his 'relics', on which a simple map of Hogwarts was drawn with stick figures, and the house number and bed number of the original owner's dormitory.
This helped Link a lot.
He just followed behind the Hufflepuff crowd and walked slowly.
In the process, Link also discovered something more special.
That's these so-called classmates of their own, who seem to be particularly unkind to themselves.
No one had come to speak to him since he came out of the Charms classroom, and everyone in the Hufflepuff Academy seemed to be deliberately ignoring him and treating him as a transparent person.
I don't know why, but Link is happy to do so.
You must know that he is new to the world now, and he has not yet obtained the memories of the original owner, and if he wants to fully integrate into this world, he needs a process of gathering information and adapting.
In the process, it is best that no one comes to disturb him.
However, just as Link was thinking, a tall figure stood in front of him.
Link paused expressionlessly and looked up at the comer.
He saw a tall, wet Hufflepuff glaring at him at the moment.
This person Link knew, he was the one who laughed the most in class before, and in retaliation, Link pretended to accidentally splash him with a glass of water.
Obviously, the other party did not dare to attack in front of Professor Flitwick at that time, so he only came to trouble now.
"Is there something wrong with your eyesight, standing in my way?"
"What did you say!?"
As if he didn't expect Link to strike first, the man was stunned for a moment, and only after he reacted did his expression become distorted.
This made his already unattractive face even uglier.
"Do you have a hearing problem?" said Link, making a thoughtful look, "it's pathetic. Are you sure that a disabled person like you really deserves to be a wizard?"
"You ......"
The other party's body twitched violently a few times, and his fists were clenched tightly, but looking at the classmates who came and went around him, he still didn't make the next move in the end.
"You little Death Eater!"
The other party said indignantly, but Link laughed disdainfully when he heard this.
The other party's whole person is about to be blown up.
But in the end, he didn't make a move, but glared at Link angrily and turned to walk, shouting as he went:
"Just wait! I'll make you pay!"
Looking at the other party's back as he drifted away, the corners of Link's mouth curled up with a sneer.
There are four houses in Hogwarts, the largest school of witchcraft and wizardry in the country, namely Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff.
Gryffindor is courageous, Slytherin is cunning and unscrupulous, Ravenclaw is intelligent and erudite, and Hufflepuff is loyal, kind and hardworking.
From these adjectives, you may be able to tell that Hufflepuff is generally perceived by the outside world as the worst of the four colleges.
And what the man did just now was a perfect proof of that to Link.
Dancing with teeth and claws, he looks like he is not easy to mess with, but in fact, he doesn't dare to really do anything, he can only make some small actions in secret to disgust people.
Shaking his head, Link continued to the break room.
The entrance to Hufflepuff's common room is located in the same hallway as Hogwarts' kitchen.
From the outside, it looked like a pile of barrels stacked in a dark stone trough in the wall, but it was clear that there was something else inside.
Link's fingertips, a boy at the front of the crowd, naturally tapped the barrels with a specific melody, and then the lid of one of the barrels opened automatically.
Intrigued, Link tapped a boy on the shoulder and asked:
"What happens if I knock it wrong?"
When the latter heard this, he first screamed like a frightened chick and took a few steps back, and then yelled at Link with a look of disgust:
"You can try it yourself! Death Eater cubs!"
Link's expression darkened, but by the time he could react, the latter had already climbed into the barrel.
Gritting his teeth, Link forced himself to endure the anger in his heart and got into it.
The barrel passage was not long, and behind it there was an uphill dirt path that led straight up to a circular room.
This series of arrangements is reminiscent of a badger's nest.
The room is dominated by a lively, bee-like black and yellow, and to spice up the color scheme, the Hufflepuff Lounge is also decorated with a lot of plants.
Like those copper-bottomed planters hanging from the ceiling, there are many curled crepes and vines that caress your hair as you pass underneath.
On the other side, above the badger-carved fireplace, is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, one of the four founders of Hogwarts.
In this depiction, she is holding a golden cup with a double-sided handle, toasting to her students.
Overall, the setting is cosy and has a homely feel.
If there's a downside, it's that it's a semi-basement, and through the small round windows on the walls, you can see only a pair of feet in a hurry.
Link was satisfied with this, nodded and walked to the two bee-colored wooden doors deep in the round room, which according to his observation were supposed to be the passage to the dormitory.
For Link now, it is imperative to examine the legacy left by the original owner in order to learn more about it.
Otherwise, it would be dangerous to continue to live in such a state of ignorance of the original owner.
