The lotus flower mentioned in the Nanhua Sutra does not really refer to a lotus plant, but refers to the wood line of the five elements.

"Taixuan Initial Record" cloud: At the beginning of heaven and earth, chaos gave birth to lotus flowers. The lotus flower is clear and turbid, the clear is the sky, and the turbidity sinks into the earth; the water conceives the lotus, the wood makes fire, the fire embers become gold, and the earth is the ding.

That is to say, at the beginning of heaven and earth, gold, wood, water, fire, and earth were the mothers, and heaven and earth were first followed by lotus flowers, that is, the five elements of wood were the first.

The lotus plant at the beginning of heaven and earth represents the five elements of wood first, which is the foundation of cultivation.

Whether these understandings are correct or not has no effect on most monks, but Lei Shaoxuan knows that the impact on the cultivation of the Five Elements Spiritual Root is huge.

At the beginning, Lei Shaoxuan introduced the spirit into the body, if he introduced the golden spirit first according to the order of gold, wood, water, fire and earth, maybe the result would be completely different.

However, this is no longer exquisite, and the spirit can only be introduced into the body once, and it cannot be repeated.

Lei Shaoxuan also understood that if he cultivated to the highest level, how to understand the five elements would lead to different paths.
