Chapter 129: Hughes (Part 1)
On the 31st, school opened, and Evan returned to his dormitory.
Orville and Rick approached him and asked him how the cards were ready, and if so, they were ready to officially get the club up and running this semester.
Evan said that it wasn't done yet, and that the finished product would be at least June.
However, Evan suggested that Orville should not wait, and that the club could be organized first.
After consulting with Rick, Orville decided to hold a recruitment and entrance test on the second weekend of school.
Orville handed over all these things to the Rick organization.
Orville was preparing for his graduation thesis and probably didn't have much time for extracurricular activities.
However, Orville has already received a master's degree in mechanical engineering and is still at Caltech in the second half of the year. Therefore, as long as the defense is passed, he will have time.
The final grades of last semester came out, and all the courses that Evan took the exam were still "passed".
According to insiders, his grades continued from last semester and are still among the best.
The number of compulsory courses in the third semester is still large, but it is a little less than that of the first semester. For Evan, that meant the lessons could be a little easier.
However, when it came time to choose courses, Evan added a lot of electives.
Evan is preparing to take up the credits ahead of time.
His plan is to get a bachelor's degree in two years and a doctorate in two years.
With such achievements as "transistors" as a foundation, as long as his credits are enough, Dean Dubridge will definitely support his plan.
Even so, by the time he graduated, Evan was already twenty-one years old, which was not too out of place at all.
Norbert Wiener received his Ph.D. from Harvard at the age of eighteen.
β¦β¦
April 4th, afternoon, 6233 Hollywood Avenue, Pontagis Theatre.
The avenue outside the theater was filled with cars of all kinds, and reporters with huge magnesium cameras surrounded the theater gates.
On the façade of the theater hangs a poster with the inscription Howard Hughes.
This is where the production crew of The Sin of Harold Diddlebock hosted a reception dinner.
Today is also the day of the film's full release.
Around three o'clock in the afternoon, a Ford pulled up not far from the theater, and there was nowhere to park beyond that.
After a while, an extremely young man and a woman got out of the car.
The man is dressed in a decent black suit and an exquisite black bow tie, looks energetic and sunny, and his height of 1.85 meters makes his figure look tall and handsome.
The woman was wearing a somewhat conservative Victorian-style long skirt, wearing a sparkling sapphire necklace around her neck, and her figure was completely hidden under the long skirt, but with her pure appearance, she was still eye-catching with a smile.
Holding hands, the two did not go through the main entrance where reporters gathered, but entered the theater through the side door under the guidance of Bob.
This was ordered by Evan in advance, and he didn't want himself and Audrey to be targeted by Hollywood's entertainment media so soon.
Before the dinner party begins, Evan plans to watch the movie with Audrey.
Anyway, there is an invitation letter, and you don't have to spend money to watch a movie.
The Sin of Harold Diddlebock had already premiered in Miami, Florida, two months earlier, so Evan already knew the synopsis from critics.
The film stars Harold Lloyd, a film comedian who can be ranked alongside Chaplin as the most popular and influential film comedian of the silent film era.
The film uses Lloyd's film "The New Life" as an introduction to the story after that rugby game (the plot in "The New Life").
At five o'clock, Evan and Audrey, who had finished watching the movie, walked out of the screening room.
Evan asked Audrey with a complicated expression, "What do you think?"
Audrey thought for a while and said: "As a comedy, 'laughter' is good, but I didn't expect it to be a comedy at the beginning." β
Evan nodded, convinced.
After watching the movie, the two walked into the venue almost pinching the time.
At the entrance to the venue, Jack Milton Warner was waiting there on purpose.
Seeing the two, Warner smiled happily.
After giving Audrey a gentleman's kiss, Warner shook Evan and said, "I almost thought you weren't coming." β
Evan said, "We only came here after watching the movie. β
"I see. Warner nodded, "How does it feel." β
Evan said, "The plot is good...... It's better if the name can be changed. β
Warner said, "Really...... You may wish to present this suggestion to Mr. Hughes in person. β
"Mind if I show you around the venue?"
Warner wanted to introduce Evan to Hollywood circles.
This was a good intention, but Evan shook his head lightly and said, "Thank you, we just came over to see it casually, just take a look." β
Audrey followed up and said, "Thank you for your kindness!"
Seeing this, Warner had no choice but to say, "In that case, I hope you can have a happy night." β
Then, he ended the exchange.
In this way, Evan and Audrey held hands and spun around the venue.
The venue was very lively, with a special band playing upbeat music. In the center of the venue was the dance floor, and the people dancing in it were so bold that Evan almost couldn't help but cover Audrey's eyes.
No way, it's so dirty.
Still, Evan held back.
Evan deliberately took Audrey away from the dance floor, and when he saw a familiar face, or Audrey was interested, Evan whispered in Audrey's ear.
However, Evan didn't know many people.
Audrey's appearance is a particularly fresh flower in the venue, which naturally attracts many bees and butterflies, but they are all blocked by Evan one by one.
"Evan?"
As the two were whispering, a cry of surprise came from behind them.
Evan turned his head and saw that the person who spoke was an acquaintance - Ronald Reagan.
"I didn't expect it to be you, Evan. β
"See you again, beautiful young lady. β
After a brief courtesy, Ronald asked, "Evan, how do you have time to come to dinner?
Evan didn't hide it, and said his true purpose: "I just want to see Mr. Howard Hughes!"
Ronald let out an "oh" when he heard this, and he didn't have the slightest suspicion, he said with a smile: "A genius legend like Howard is indeed worth knowing. β
"I would like to ask, have you achieved your goal?"
Evan smiled and said, "It's ongoing." β
Ronald said, "Would you like to help introduce one or two?"
Evan thought for a moment and nodded, "That will trouble you!"
He just turned around with Audrey and didn't see the main character.
"No trouble!" Ronald waved his hand.
A few minutes later, led by Ronald, Evan and Audrey saw Howard Hughes, who was in his early nines, wearing a gray suit, with a cane in his left hand and a bewitching woman in his right arm.
Hughes's injury seems to be almost as good as it gets.
However, on closer inspection, Evan still found burn marks on his face.
At this time, Hughes was surrounded by a group of men and women, and his expression was a little uncomfortable.
The people around him include Hollywood bosses and newspaper editors-in-chief......
Hughes was struggling to cope.
Evan who was watching suddenly admired Hughes's self-control.
He almost got over his obsessive-compulsive disorder.
It took a while for Evan to get a chance to talk to Hughes.
"Hello, Dear Mr. Hughes, my name is Evan Warren. Evan didn't shake Hughes's hand, and the first thing he said after introducing himself was, "I love your movie "Hell's Angels", and "The Sin of Harold Diddlebock" that I just finished watching is also good, but could you please change the name of the movie?"
Evan's behavior looked a little rude, but Hughes was suddenly interested, because he also felt that the name was not good. He looked at Evan and asked faintly, "What do you think would be better to change?"
"Hmm...... What do you think of Crazy Wednesday?"
