Chapter 104: There is a situation
Saturday, January 25.
Evan and Layton discussed and decided to stop the experiment for a day and resume it on Sunday. Of course, this was not because the two were "non-unitary" possessed, but because Evan figured out that it was not possible to try his luck like this.
He already knew in his heart what the problem was, it was the spring.
The elasticity of the spring is too strong to control, so the gold leaf will be accidentally pressed too wide.
Evan stopped the day just to give Leiden some time to find some new springs.
Early in the morning, Evan left Pasadena.
Bob took a leave of absence today, so Evan drove back to the cabin on his own.
After the Ford pulled to the side of the road, Evan honked his horn, and not long after, Audrey came out of the house with a small bag.
Evan made a special trip to take Audrey to the crew.
"Can you hurry up? I'm going to be late!" Audrey urged, pulling on her seat belt.
"Don't worry, how can I be late!" Evan asked, turning the steering wheel, "Speaking of which, you've been rehearsing for so long, has Albert decided when to perform in public?"
Audrey took out a small mirror from her bag and replied as she sorted out her makeup, "Not sure yet, but Mr. Albert mentioned that it might be scheduled in June!
Evan said, "Broadway! Isn't that going to New York?"
Audrey nodded, "That's right!"
"It would be nice if this was true, June just started the summer vacation, and I could perform on stage without affecting my studies, and neither side would be delayed. ”
"But it doesn't matter if it's not June. ”
Audrey looked longing, Broadway is not ordinarily attractive for a dancer.
After dropping Audrey off on the set, Evan drove the car in the direction of UCLA.
Not long after, Evan arrived at the small commercial block in front of the school with a paper bag, where Virginia's part-time bookstore was located.
Because it was a weekend, although it was not yet winter and the temperature was only in the single digits (measured in Celsius), there were still many pedestrians on the streets.
Many of the shops on the street have billboards on the outside, and one of the grocery stores has a huge advertising space, but it only shows small things like soap.
Seeing the text on the advertisement, Evan immediately understood where the box of "Dial" soap sent by Virginia had won the prize.
Evan walked unhurriedly towards the location of the bookstore in his memory. He has rarely been here for the past six months, and the bookstore has only been there once.
That time he hadn't gone in yet, just glanced in the car.
After walking less than 100 meters, Evan came to the location of the bookstore.
In general, bookstores tend to have less foot traffic than other stores, even if the bookstore is close to the school.
Evan saw that this Jean was about the same.
When he walked into the store, the first thing he saw was the bestseller section. Evan glanced at it and found that there was a book related to the Rubik's Cube in it.
"Welcome!
A clerk saw Evan and greeted him cordially.
Evan withdrew his gaze from the best-selling area, walked to the cash register, and asked the female clerk who had just greeted him, "Hey, where is Virginia?"
The female clerk looked young, and Evan guessed that she was probably also a UCLA student, working part-time here.
The female clerk glanced at Evan when she heard this, and immediately felt that he was a little familiar. However, since she was asking Virginia, she was not prepared to answer truthfully because she had an explanation from the store manager.
I saw the female clerk smile and replied, "I'm sorry, sir, she's off today!"
Evan was stunned for a moment, and then realized that she was covering for Virginia.
Evan had called Virginia before she came, and of course knew that she was going to work normally today.
Evan smiled and said, "Miss, thank you for helping Virginia, but please tell me where she is, or call her for me." ”
"My name is Evan Warren and I'm Virginia's brother. ”
The clerk didn't believe it at first, but soon changed her mind, because after looking at Evan carefully, she understood why she felt so familiar.
The boy in front of him does look very similar to Virginia in some places, and the two are indeed very likely to be sisters and brothers.
She looked at Evan and asked, "Are you really Geena's brother?"
Evan nodded, and to be more persuasive, he pulled his driver's license out of his pocket.
The clerk took the driver's license and looked at it, the surname was the same, and he instantly believed nine points.
She smiled as she returned her ID to Evan and said, "Your sister Virginia is in the book fan exchange area, and a writer came over today, and she is in charge of receiving and maintaining order over there. ”
"It's over there......" she stretched out her hand to point in the direction for Evan, "I can't leave my post, so I won't show you the way, you can go by yourself!"
"Okay! thank you!" Evan waved at her.
The female clerk said behind Evan, "My name is Luna!"
"Thanks again, Luna!"
Evan said without looking back.
Along the narrow passage separated by bookshelves, Evan arrives at what Luna calls the book lovers' communication area, a small podium and many chairs that is less than forty square meters and surrounded by bookshelves.
At this point, the writer Luna was talking about had not yet arrived, and the podium was empty, but the chairs in the audience were already empty.
Evan glanced at it and quickly found Virginia. She was sitting in the audience and chatting with a man in a suit as if no one was around.
I don't know if my salary will be deducted if I see it by my boss.
Evan stood at the entrance and shouted, "Virginia!"
Virginia immediately looked up in the direction where the voice came from, and when she saw Evan waving to her, she smiled, whispered a word to the man next to her, and then got up and walked to her brother.
While Evan was waiting for Virginia to come over, he quietly observed the man who was talking and laughing with her. Judging by the man's attire, Evan guessed that he wasn't a student at school.
The man seemed to notice that Evan was looking at him and smiled at him.
This smile made Evan see his appearance clearly, his facial features were harmonious, and his "posture" was good. Somehow, though, his smile disliked Ervan.
In addition, his face always gave Evan a sense of where he had seen it, but unfortunately he couldn't remember anything.
After a while, Virginia came to Evan and saw him frowning and asked, "What's wrong?"
Evan came back to his senses, shook his head and said, "Nothing!"
Virginia didn't care, and stretched out her hand and said, "Give me something!"
Evan handed over the paper bag and instructed uneasily: "Write well, don't spoil my settings!"
"Shut up, you don't have a say in writing! just wait!" Virginia took the bag and smashed it at Evan as a weapon, who nimbly dodged it, and then asked, "Who is that person?
Virginia's face turned red when she heard this, and then she kicked out unceremoniously, saying, "It's none of your business, hurry up and go back to accompany your Audrey!"
