Chapter 780: Special Robots

The project team led by Academician Liu is the most important and the most reluctant to face in making a commercial nuclear power plant.

- Standardized salvage process after major damage accidents.

It is known that the advantages of nuclear power plants are very powerful.

If we compare it with a thermal power station, a million-kilowatt thermal power station consumes about two million tons of thermal coal a year.

So how much is a nuclear power plant?

For a 1 million kilowatt nuclear power plant, the fuel rods need to be replaced at most once a year, which is about 30 tons.

The latter consumes only 66,000 times the weight of the former. At the same time, a thermal power station burns 2 million tons of thermal coal a year, releasing about 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide, 17,000 tons of sulfur dioxide, and 15,000 tons of nitrogen oxides.

What about nuclear power plants?

A nuclear power plant does not emit these pollutants because it does not burn coal at all. It only produces wastewater, which is mostly generated by a primary circuit cooling system, which under normal conditions would be collected and then evaporated into waste solids, which are then piled up for disposal.

Thermal power stations also need to be shut down for a long time and cannot run at full capacity for long periods of time. But once a nuclear power plant generates electricity, it can operate at full capacity for a long time.

By comparison, not to mention experts in the energy sector. Even ordinary people know how good a nuclear power plant is.

Last year, China consumed nearly 4 billion tons of coal in terms of energy, accounting for half of the world's total. Thermal power stations burn half of China's total. These coals release hundreds of millions of tons of pollutants, which are currently the main hazards of air pollution. It is also one of the culprits of smog and respiratory diseases. If it is replaced by nuclear power, the air quality of the whole country of China can immediately rise by several levels.

The ideal is beautiful, but the reality is cruel......

On March 12, 2011, the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan was affected by an earthquake that shocked the world. This accident has shocked all countries around the world that have expectations for nuclear power plants into hundreds of cold sweats.

This accident directly led Switzerland to announce the suspension of the approval of three new reactors. Allow Germany to temporarily shut down seven nuclear power plants that were in operation before 1980 and conduct safety inspections of all nuclear power plants. Let Japan put forward the "goal of denuclearization", intending to build a new society without nuclear power plants.

At the same time, Italy and the United Kingdom have also announced the reduction of nuclear power plants and the suspension of nuclear power approval projects.

Huaxia was also greatly stimulated, and directly stopped all nuclear power plant construction plans that year......

There are only a handful of countries in the world that dare to play with nuclear power plants. Almost all of these countries have made mistakes when playing nuclear power. It's just that since the Chernobyl accident, everyone has been very careful, and there has not been a similar complete out-of-control mistake.

Time is the best forgetting agent, and as time goes by, nuclear research experts from all over the world believe that the progress of science and technology can prevent Chernobyl from happening. But 11 years of Fukushima completely shattered everyone's dreams.

Although, this accident was caused by a tsunami earthquake.

But which country can guarantee that its nuclear power plants will not be threatened by earthquakes? You know, most nuclear power plants are built on the seashore.

When it happens, hundreds of thousands, millions of residents are displaced, and their health is seriously threatened. Large areas of land have been completely abandoned, leaving them uninhabited for thousands of years.

Even if there are no natural disasters, there are man-made disasters. If there is a war between the two countries, who can guarantee that they will not attack the nuclear power plant in the case of a red eye?

It's a pity that the ideal is beautiful, but the reality is cruel......

In the aftermath of the Fukushima incident, countries found themselves halting their plans for nuclear power plants. In today's increasingly serious environmental protection problems, to increase thermal power projects on a large scale is also not responsible for the health of the people, as well as the health of future generations, and is not in line with economic interests.

There was no way, and countries pinched their noses and continued to study nuclear power. However, after Fukushima, the world's caution about nuclear power projects has reached an unbelievably harsh level. Safety, security, safety......

It is under this circumstance that the project team led by Academician Liu undertook the important task of rescue standardization research after a major damage accident to a nuclear power plant. After this set of rescue standards comes out, all nuclear power plants in Huaxia will implement the plan in accordance with the unified standard as soon as a major accident occurs. This is also another set of safety standards that will be launched after the five sets of safety standards for the Huaxia nuclear power plant.

It is also the last set of broken boats after all safety standards are ineffective.

Now they have a very tricky problem.

After the Fukushima accident, the disaster escalated step by step. In this process, there is actually a chance to save. However, because rescuers were never able to accurately understand the inside of the reactor, many good opportunities were missed.

Rescuers were desperate to observe the inside of the reactor, but the radiation intensity inside the reactor had reached its peak, and if people entered, they would die within a minute. As a last resort, they built all kinds of robots, but the powerful radiation was equally fatal to the electronic equipment inside the robots. By the time they worked hard to create a robot that could withstand 50 sieverts of radiation, the internal radiation had already reached 100. By the time they worked to build a robot that could withstand 80 sieverts, the internal radiation had already exceeded 500 sieverts......

The robot hung up before it got close to the target.

Now Academician Liu needs a special robot that can withstand 200 sieverts of irradiation and insist on working for two hours.

Assuming that there is this robot, then this set of schemes, which is jokingly called "when you execute it, you can die", which is nicknamed by the domestic nuclear energy industry, has an "artifact" to control the overall situation. It can increase the success rate of this program by at least 15%.

Because of Fukushima, Japan has a unique technological advantage in this area, and Japan itself is also a leader in the field of industrial robots in the world.

……

The next day, Ye Qing took two delicate masters and a "test piece" loaded in a special metal box and flew to a small county town in Long Province on the Peregrine Falcon.

The test was not large, only the size of a shoebox.

That small county town is called Jinwan County, on the edge of the Hexi Corridor, and is a poor county town with a vast land and sparsely populated area. Academician Liu and his team carried out project research work 200 kilometers away from the county seat. There is a simulated small nuclear power plant there, and this simulated nuclear power plant is about to usher in the end of its own destiny. It will realistically simulate a damage accident like Fukushima, but Academician Liu and his team do not have a robot that can go deep into the interior of the mini-reactor and observe the out-of-control changes in the core.

Today is also the day of the arrival of Japanese technical experts, and Academician Liu and several students are responsible for receiving them in Jinwan County.

Naturally, there is no airport in Jinwan County, so the Peregrine Falcon first flew to Quanjiu City, and then drove hundreds of kilometers to Jinwan County.

There is an energy service center in Quanjiu City, and after Ye Qing arrived, the local person in charge got a Jeep BJ40 over, which is the kind of domestic jeep opened by Leng Feng in Wolf Warrior 2.
