012 Twilight Beach is surprised
The weekends in Dubai are Fridays and Saturdays, and with Musa in mind, I insisted on dragging Lian Pian to Jumeirah Beach.
It was a scorching August day in Dubai, and it was close to evening that we dared to sneak out of our air-conditioned hotel and take a bus to the beach.
It was my first time in Dubai, and I was surprised to find that the bus stations here are small, air-conditioned enclosed houses. You don't need to be exposed to the sun while waiting for the bus, as long as you sit in the transparent air-conditioned waiting room, you can comfortably withstand the summer heat. Of course, this air-conditioned waiting room is also separate for men and women.
Most people in Dubai have cars, and although the bus system is not perfect, I was pleasantly surprised by the thoughtfulness of this detail. After Lian Pian and I sat down, we turned our heads to look at the few men standing behind us, but none of them occupied a large number of empty 'female' seats in front of us, which is simply impossible to happen in China.
I tugged at Lian Pian's sleeve and said, "I don't think the Middle East seems to discriminate against 'women' and 'sex' as rumored to be, and even 'quite respects' women' and 'sex' ......."
Lian Pian nodded, and asked speculatively: "Xixi, you said that all public places are separated from men and women, is it meant to be respected? I heard before that in Dubai, 'women' and 'sex' can be 'inserted' in line at will." ”
I thought about it, but I still didn't know. For the local 'women' and 'sex', men both respect and want to control. said that it was necessary to give space to "women", "sexual" and "private" people, but it was suppressed everywhere and independence was not allowed. I don't understand, is their solemn black 'colored' robe a kind of protection or a kind of captivity?
The atmosphere was slightly stagnant, and the front and back rows of us were sitting in the 'masked' black-robed 'women', although we spoke Chinese, it was always rude to discuss others behind us. After being quiet for a long time, Lian Pian suddenly seemed to remember something, and sneered: "What I said just now was wrong, in Dubai, 'women' are absolutely not allowed to 'cut in line', because men and 'women' can't line up together at all!"
Her finishing touches made me laugh too, and I gossiped a few more things along the way, and it wasn't long before I reached Jumeirah Beach.
As the sun sets and the long coastline winds magnificently, the Burj Al Arab pushes this beach sunset to the extreme, and even the returning 'waves' have stopped to enjoy this beautiful moment.
What is even more surprising is that the beach is full of 'exposed' Europeans and Americans, 'women' wearing 'sexy' bikinis, and men even 'naked'. Even on the beaches of China, it is impossible for everyone to dress so wantonly. In stark contrast, there are two Muslim 'women' on the side, wrapped in sharkskin swimsuits that cover the soles of their feet from head to bottom, and still only show their faces, even their necks and hair. Later we learned that even if they were dressed like this, they were extremely open, because it was impossible for most black-robed 'women' to swim on public beaches.
While I was dumbfounded by the scene in front of me, I inadvertently caught a glimpse of the lookout not far away, and there were even uniformed policemen on the platform, keeping a firm eye on the men, women, and women on the shore!
My heart was surging with a tide, and I thought of the British man and woman who had been sentenced for the beach*, and I couldn't help but wipe the sweat from my forehead: "This is really what I've ever seen...... The most marvellous beach. ”
Lian Pian didn't care, only looked at the feast with sparkling eyes, and excitedly praised it: "It's not wonderful, it's so 'wonderful'! Sunshine, sand, beautiful scenery, handsome guys! There is everything that young people want." With that, she took off her shoes and socks, stepped on the soft grains of sand with her bare feet, and ran out to sea in high spirits.
Looking at her cheerful back, I actually wanted to remind her that on the first day she arrived in Dubai, she was hostile to the white-robed man when she only dangled her shoulders with white 'flowers' and 'flowers'. At the moment, it seems that the man must be a rather conservative Muslim, but there will be conflict, just like the unrestrained Europeans and Americans on the beach with the police waiting for arrests, Dubai's opening is not as it seems on the surface.
Now, I finally understand why Moussa asked me to come and see Jumeirah Beach, which is the best place to know Dubai. Under the influence of the unrestrained Europeans and Americans*, even Muslim 'women' have shed their black robes and changed into swimsuits to feel the taste of wandering in the sea. But this can't affect the environment and beliefs, even if you feel it, you still have to wrap yourself tightly.
Dubai's inclusive welcome to people from all walks of life speaks volumes about its tolerance and freedom. However, there are limits to this tolerance and freedom, and once you touch the bottom line, what awaits you will be a prison sentence.
What we saw and heard at Jumeirah Beach made me and Lian Pian feel a lot, but the content was very different. When I got back from the beach, I wondered how I could report to Moussa what I had learned. Thinking about it, I couldn't help but ask myself, why should I report to him?
I pondered and soon found a reason to convince myself. Since he suggested that I go to see it, I should also show that I understand it, otherwise wouldn't it make the Middle Easterners laugh at me for being stupid? As a scholar, this is something I will never allow.
Before class on Sunday, I had a mental sketch in mind, hoping to share my thoughts with Moussa while the teacher asked the three of them to discuss individually after class, and to mention a few other questions that I was interested in. Until now, I was still nervous when talking to Bai Pao, and I was almost late for class after a while of tinkering with preparations.
However, when I stepped on the class bell and walked into the classroom, I unexpectedly found that Ayub was the only one in the last row, and his side was empty, silent, and equally empty, as well as my instantly lost heart.
Musa, he didn't come to class at all.
