Chapter 5 Phone Chips
Hu Yiting has the impression that the wealthy families in these years are more inclined to use imported telephones, such as Siemens, Philips, Alcatel, Sony, Panasonic and other foreign brands, although the price is expensive, but the quality is good.
Take Zhang Baiqi as an example, his home is Philips's mother and child machine, and when installing a telephone in the post and telecommunications office, the selection fee of this phone is as high as more than 1,700 yuan. However, his father is a leader, and the efficiency of the unit is good, so he can choose the best model for reimbursement.
In recent years, the people who installed the telephones at home were basically a little bit of a family background, or the leaders were paid for by the unit to install them, otherwise the ordinary people were unwilling to bear the initial installation fee of only two or three thousand yuan, not to mention paying a telephone bill every month.
Of course, Hu Yiting knows that at present, the domestic market is eliminating analog telephones and popularizing digital phones.
But even the famous Huachuang Group in later generations, until 98 and 99, the digital telephones they built had a very high failure rate.
As an employee of Huachuang in his previous life, Hu Yiting still knew a little about the company's history, and knew that the quality of Huachuang's telephones at that time was a joke, and the telephone market had not been opened.
Finally, the telephones produced by the Terminal Division are mainly used within the company, and some are given as gifts to customers.
Sending customers can sometimes backfire. The director of the BJ office once sent a child and mother machine to a bureau chief, but it broke down in a few days, and it broke down quickly after replacing it. In the end, it took a total of three door-to-door changes before it could be used. It has greatly ruined the image of Huachuang.
At that time, the other customers of the telephones produced by Huachuang were internal employees. The company calls on employees to actively purchase their own telephones. When a department leader went home during the Spring Festival in 96, he bought 10 company telephones and took them home to give away. It didn't take long for many people to tell him that the phone was broken.
With such quality, the Huachuang Terminal Division, which was full of confidence at the beginning, finally ended up with a loss of more than 200 million yuan.
Hua Chuang Group later summarized within the company, and the technical staff agreed that aside from the gap in the manufacturing level, Hua Chuang's phone, the biggest problem lies in the design, the integration of the phone is not high, the guide needs to use a large number of various electronic components, and the internal PCB circuit board is densely welded with thirty or forty components, as long as there is a failure, the phone will have a problem, if the failure rate of a component is five thousandths, the failure rate of forty components is as high as two hundred thousandths, that is, 20 percent! 20 out of 100 are broken, and the odds are repaid!! as time goes by, many parts fail one after another.
Even the Huachuang Group, which claims to have started with technology, is like this, not to mention the quality of digital telephones produced by small factories across the country, so many small factories are still sticking to the analog phone position. On digital telephones, only those joint ventures that import movements are assembled in China, such as TCL, Shenzhen Nanbao, Zhanjiang Jiaxin, and Xiamen Hongtai, are living a more nourishing life.
In the future, in addition to those large electronic factories that have foreign exchange to import chips and assemble them with supplied materials, many small state-owned factories that produce telephones but lack foreign exchange will face the fate of bankruptcy.
Hu Yiting frowned and remembered that in 1995 there were 800 million telephone calls in the world, and a few developed countries in Europe, the United States, and Japan accounted for more than 80 percent of them, but their population was only 16 percent of the world's population.
There are 1.3 billion people in China, and there will be countless enterprises in the future.
Hu Yiting gritted his teeth resolutely: "An industrial power in the information age must be a telecommunications power! To be a telecommunications power, it is first necessary to master the core technology. ā
After making a decision, with his super memory, Hu Yiting put pen to paper, and the design drawings were drawn very quickly.
The circuit diagram of the entire chip was taken by him in the brain in accordance with the abscissa ABCDEFGH...... Ordinate 12345678...... Such a plane coordinate structure was dismembered into a series of local diagrams, and before the end of the lesson, he had already drawn the diagram numbered C2.
After all, copying is not as much as design, not so much trouble, Intel engineer Fagan when he was designing the Z80 microcontroller, even the design with a picture tape modification in a week, drawing for 80 hours, and finally designed the Z80 single-chip microcomputer.
But after all, it is even the design with drawing and modification, no more than Hu Yiting now, completely copying the mature single-chip telephone scheme of later generations.
As a telephone master control chip designed in 2008, it can well support liquid crystal display, caller ID, call storage, dial-up storage, 200 commonly used number storage, multiple phones in parallel, and three kinds of incoming music.
In terms of hardware parameters, the operating voltage of this chip is as low as only 1.6V, which is far lower than the 20V standby voltage and 48V usage voltage of the telephone line. Due to the high integration of multiple components, the chip is also capable of squelch input during dialing, and can achieve a wide range of transmit and receive amplifier gain by external resistors, resulting in a better high-fidelity call experience and more reliable overall quality and longevity.
Even though this chip is so mature, Hu Yiting still made a black hand when drawing, castrating some unnecessary functions on this chip, after all, some technologies and protocols, 1995 phones do not need to be supported.
Such a chip can be described as a shot in the arm for China's telephone industry in 1995, which can help China enter the digital telephone era in one fell swoop, master the core technology, and more importantly, master the core patent!
Hu Yiting knows that the best digital telephones currently produced in China, that is, those products assembled by joint venture companies, use the AS2531 chip developed by the Australian AMS company, which is manufactured by the Austrian Aowei Electronics Company and sold by the general agent of Hong Kong Demaofeng (DMF).
This chip was designed in 94, and its core is a single-chip microcomputer, in addition to ringing, dialing, calling, and storing 31 numbers, it does not support LCD display control, nor does it support the basic functions of telephones that can be seen everywhere in later generations. It's completely incomparable to my own design.
But it is this chip, whose 20-year patent term, means monopoly sales. As the core of the cheapest single-chip telephone set in China, the import price of each piece is 3.5 US dollars, which is equivalent to 30 yuan a piece according to the current RMB exchange rate of 1 to 8.7. Compared to the price of the chip, its manufacturing cost of only a few cents is almost negligible.
However, since China can't design it, and there are no relevant chip patents, it can only pinch its nose and import it! And China's phone manufacturers, who use it to assemble, produce and sell a phone, work hard but only make a dozen yuan from the whole machine.
This is the difference between a manufacturing power and a manufacturing power, one is to easily lie down and eat a large piece of meat, the other is tired and tired to drink soup, the difference is that one has core technology and patents, and the other does not.
Hu Yiting recalled that because the price of AS2531 chip is cheaper than other imported brands, joint ventures have imported the chip to produce telephones, and the chip has been inspected and certified by the National Telephone Quality Supervision and Inspection Center. It is equivalent to encouraging domestic imports of this relatively cheap phone chip.
Hu Yiting knows that there are 38 million telephones in China in 94 years, which will increase to 44 million in 95 years. In the future, there will be a demand for more than 10 million telephones in the domestic market every year! In addition to the demand for foreign trade, a large number of OEM assembly and export will be unlimited.
Hu Yiting calculates according to 80% of the market share, which means that Australia's AMS company and its OEM Austrian Aowei Electronics, as well as the sales agent Hong Kong Demaofeng, will earn tens of millions of dollars on this chip every year in the future.
It was not until 2003 that IC companies in Taiwan and mainland China began to enter the field of telephone chip design and manufacturing, and the wholesale price of the chip fell all the way to 0.85 yuan, equivalent to about 0.15 US dollars.
Hu Yiting thought eagerly: "As long as I can find a chip factory to help me tape-out, test, and produce, after the large-scale production of this thing, the cost will only be a few cents." This chip does not have high requirements for the manufacturing process, and a three-micron technology is enough, but it is really not good, modify the design, and use the five-micron technology process to make do. ā
"But after the design is designed, where can I go to tape out?" Hu Yiting is familiar with the situation of the domestic IC industry, and he can't help frowning when he thinks about it.
In 95 years, the highest process of the domestic integrated circuit production line only reached one micron, and it was still a real yĆ n room preparation line in Tsinghua University, which could not be used for large-scale production and was only used for scientific research. The military industrial system has two three-micron production lines, but they are basically self-sufficient, and there are more than a dozen civilian production lines in China, mostly five-micron and some three-micron. The overall process technology of these production lines is relatively simple, and when encountering slightly complex chips with a high degree of integration of multiple components, the pass rate of wafer production will be reduced.
That is to say, at the current level of China's integrated circuit industry, it is impossible to industrialize the mass production of Intel286 processors with 1.5 micron process. Not to mention the 586 CPU released in '93, which is a 0.8-micron process. At present, Intel has achieved practical success in the 0.35 micron process and will soon be commercialized.
At present, the CPU localization imitation model that has just been basically completed in China is a MC68000 produced by Motorola in 1979, and the processor chip of the famous Nintendo red and white machine is this. THREE-MICRON PROCESS, 16.7MHZ FREQUENCY. The reason why it is said that "it is basically done just now" is because there are still defects in the production process and the pass rate is not high, but it can finally be made.
Hu Yiting shook his head, forcing himself not to think about the current bleak status quo of the domestic IC industry, and only buried himself in drawing.
He made up his mind: "If the tape-out doesn't work, it's better if the idea sells the design drawing." ā
Specifically, Hu Yiting doesn't know how much this chip design can be sold, but he knows that no matter how much, it will be of great help to his current life.
In his opinion, one of the main reasons why his parents divorced when he was in high school was undoubtedly because they were both laid off and had financial problems.
People say that poor couples mourn for a hundred days, but sadly, this statement of Tang Yuan is still valid today after a thousand years.
Hu Yiting found that after being reborn, the first crisis he faced was his parents who were about to quarrel all day long because they were both laid off.
He remembers that his parents divorced in the second half of his sophomore year of high school, his father went to work as a copy editor in a publishing house in ZJ Hangzhou, where his old colleague was located, and his mother went south to join an old classmate who ran a clothing company in Guangzhou, and he was thrown to his grandparents as a burden.
Hu Yiting clearly remembered that at that time, he felt that he was the most redundant person in the world, a person who was abandoned by his biological parents, how dispensable he should be in this world!
"Slut, you're familiar with computers?"
Hu Yiting didn't think about it: "Hmm." ā
Zhang Baiqi was overjoyed: "Come on, come on, give some advice." ā
Hu Yiting had to stop the fast-moving pencil and ruler, and looked up at Zhang Baiqi blankly.
"Help me look at this paper on the National Science and Technology Competition for Junior High School Students, I'm in a hurry to hand it in. You can even draw circuit diagrams, and it's the first time I've ever known you have the skills!"
"About what?"
Hu Yiting asked while taking the paper in Zhang Baiqi's hand.
It turned out to be an article titled "A New Method of Counting Words in Manuscripts Using Computers".
Seeing the title, Hu Yiting frowned: "Aren't you working in vain? This function is ready-made in both word and wps text software, why are you tossing this?"
"Do you still know Word and WPS?" Zhang Baiqi was surprised.
"Isn't it just computer software, and I'm not a primitive person. Hu Yiting prevaricated lightly.
"It turns out that you also know that word and wps can count the word count of Chinese manuscripts. Zhang Baiqi looked disappointed and began to worry that this paper would not be able to be fooled.
"But I don't know of any word processor that doesn't have this feature, and if you can find that weird software, you can write a paper explaining the design intent. Hu Yiting said with a smile.
Zhang Baiqi sighed: "I know I can't win the award, I'm about to take the high school entrance examination, who wants to toss this, I just have to deal with the errand." ā
Hu Yiting was stunned.
Seeing that Hu Yiting didn't understand, Zhang Baiqi explained to him: "Every middle school has to participate in this national junior high school science and technology competition, physics, chemistry, biology, computer, and life applications...... A dissertation is required for each subject. Teacher Xie from the Youth League Committee heard that I had a computer at home, and he insisted that I write this paper on computers. ā
"You just pushed it!"
"I pushed it! His grandmother's push can't be pushed off! I'm going to take the exam next week, who has the time to get this!"
Zhang Baiqi huffed and continued: "I told Teacher Xie that I don't understand computers! My dad bought that thing for me to practice typing, and besides, I can't use the computer to type and play games!"
"What did Teacher Xie say?"
Zhang Baiqi cried with a sad face: "Teacher Xie said that among the students in the school, he only knows that I have a computer at home, and I must write this computer paper." ā
"Hehe, tell you kid to show off everywhere, no, now the teacher knows that you have a computer at home. ā
Zhang Baiqi looked embarrassed: "Slut, you can help me take a look, your writing is good, help me polish it, just fool Teacher Xie." ā
