Chapter 7: The Lost Dog
On the top of the mountain, in the middle of a field of white stone, a large man in a tattered and luxurious magic robe was staring into the distance.
His eyes were resolute, his face was solemn, and he seemed to be thinking. In his hand was a long magic battle, inlaid with gold and silver, and at first glance it was not an object used by ordinary people.
Suddenly, the big man seemed to come back to his senses and burst out laughing.
"I'm alone. It turns out that this is the case, why didn't I figure it out before. As he spoke, the big man looked in the same direction again.
"How far I flew, I can't remember exactly. I don't think anyone will come, but I didn't expect it, I really didn't expect that I would be reduced to a lonely person. The big man said as he spoke, his eyes sharpened.
"I'll take revenge one day!We, the Peacock King's Clan, are at odds with you bastards!I, Bill, swear that if I can't get rid of you demons from the ground in this life, I won't rest!" the big man gritted his teeth, seeming a little dizzy, but quickly calmed down again.
"In the past ten years, my peacock magic has not been able to grow, but I didn't expect to have mutated symptoms today. Dahan closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and white light and shadow appeared from his body, and after a while, Dahan turned into a huge white peacock, spread his wings, and suspended in the air.
"These powers are far from enough, I have to become stronger, I have to become stronger•••••• ahhhhhhh
After a while, a white-haired old man in tattered clothes passed by the bottom of the mountain, saw the big man lying in the rocks, smiled wryly, picked up the big man, and walked lightly in the mountains and forests. After a while, the old man carried the big man on his back and walked to a low hut in the mountains.
"Come out, girl!" shouted the old man.
"Big fat man, have you picked up any treasure again!" replied a gray-haired old woman in the hut with a sly smile, and peeked her head out of the hut.
"Guess what I picked up?" said the old man, embarrassed.
"Brother of a rich family! This is just right, we can kidnap him and ask for money from his family!" The old woman said bluntly, and it seemed that she had done a lot of extortion.
"It's a girl, you can guess my idea right away!" the old man smiled brightly, as if he was dozens of years younger.
"Uh, uh" Bill whispered slightly, not realizing that his fate had been decided by someone else in his sleep.
After an unknown amount of time, Bill opened his eyes. I felt sore and weak. When he got up to observe, he found himself in a low, dilapidated thatched hut. The smell of sweat in the air mixed with the smell of rotting plants and trees makes people want to retch.
"How did I get here?" Bill recalled, without any impression.
Looking closely at his body, the original gorgeous clothes have turned into shabby cloth clothes.
"What's wrong with me?" stood up and Bill walked out of the hut.
"Ah, the young man is awake!" the old man greeted. Bill was stunned, guessing that he might have been seriously injured before, and nine times out of ten he was saved by the old man. The attitude was very respectful, and he asked the old man: "Old man, where is this place, how did I come here?"
The old man looked at Bill with a monkey-like look, and his gaze flashed to one of concern.
"Son, do you remember who you are?" said the old man, filling a dirty and broken container of unknown material with muddy water from a nearby stone trough, and handing it to Bill.
"I didn't have amnesia and knew who I was. Bill understood that he couldn't tell him who he was in the face of this old man who didn't know the details, so he replied lightly.
"You've been lying down for a long time, you must be a little thirsty, come, drink some water!" the old man finished speaking, and Bill turned his attention to the water in front of him. While it was true that his mouth was dry, the filthy container was too much for Bill to swallow.
"The son of a rich family, no wonder he looks down on us as rough things in the countryside. The old man said, taking the dirty container back from Bill's hand with some disdain, and drank the murky water from it.
This made Bill embarrassed.
"How did I get here, old man, did you see me holding a long wand in my hand?" said Bill, who thought about it and felt that he could only ask the old man about the situation.
"That stick, the one with so many gems on it?" Bill nodded, "I'm sorry, you came sick and had a fever and talking nonsense. The little old man didn't have the money to see you, so he sold the stick and helped you get the medicine. Now I don't know where that stick went!"
As soon as the old man said this, Bill couldn't stop laughing.
"Young man, to put it mildly, those things are outside the body, and they are nothing compared to their own lives. The old man comforted Bill.
Bill looked at the old man, though he didn't know if it was as the old man said. But no matter what the old man says, he is still a person who has saved himself. Although his favorite wand is that one, even if he has a stiff relationship with the old man at this time, he can't solve any problems. And Bill didn't value those rare things by nature, so he forgave the old man directly.
"Thank you, old man, for saving my life!" Bill saluted the old man and turned to leave.
"Don't be in a hurry to leave, how can you just leave if you are so badly injured!" the old man spoke, stretched out his right hand, and made a gesture asking for money, but Bill really didn't react!
"I'm not talking about you, young man, I've seen your injuries, and I guess you're gone, and you can't use magic anymore. If you let the old man, I give you some conditioning, or there is still a possibility of recovery. But if you just leave, I think you'll be a waste person in the future. The old man's words were somewhat bluffing.
"He's a villager in the mountains, what can he know? Bill thought to himself, intending to use peacock magic to escape this place.
"Ahhh
"Look, look, you young man really doesn't listen to persuasion. How can you say it so you can understand?" seemed to gloat in the old man's tone. "Come, come, drink some water and rest!" said the old man, who filled the dirty container with water from the stone trough next to him.
Bill was sitting on the ground in pain by this time, and heard what the old man said. This time he didn't resist, took the water and drank it.
The cool water slid down his throat and into his stomach, and the cold feeling slowly dissipated the pain that had eaten his bones before. Bill felt as if he was slowly relieving himself.
"Young man, now you know the benefits of mountain spring water. I didn't want to drink it before. The old man spoke, observing Bill's expression.
Bill realized that the old man beside him was not an ordinary person, and at this time he had completely lost the arrogance of the royal family.
"Old man, it was my fault that I didn't listen to what you said. It's just that I don't understand, my magic is innate, how can I suddenly not be able to use it?" Bill was respectful, waiting for the old man to give him an answer.
"How do you have to say this to be able to understand?" the old man seemed a little pleased to see Bill's change of attitude.
"The magic of your body, to be honest, is innate. But just because something is born doesn't mean it's taken for granted. Your innate magic, just like some people born into rich and noble families, is something left to you by your ancestors. Because it's inherited magic, and it's not something you have acquired through hard work, then there will be a question of whether this thing is suitable for you. If my guess is correct, your ancestors are amazing, but none of you descendants have surpassed your ancestors over the years. On the one hand, of course, your ancestors are very remarkable, and on the other hand, you yourself have not worked hard to reach the limits of your talents, so you are not worthy of this power, and you will only lose yourself in this power. To put it bluntly, that power is just the power that your ancestors lent you. Now that you have that strength gone, you have to learn to live again. ”
The old man's last words were like a sledgehammer in Bill's chest, making him want to pass out. Being an ordinary person himself was something Bill had never thought about. He is still burdened with national hatred and family hatred, so it seems that there is no point in his life.
In his heart, Bill just wanted to die. Looking around, Bill didn't see anything that could lead to suicide. After thinking about it, he decided to leave here and go outside.
"Where are you going, young man?" asked Bill.
Bill's face was as dead as ashes, he glanced at the old man, and said lightly: "Old man, thank you for saving your life." I, Bill, are burdened with a sea of blood and hatred, but there is no hope of revenge in this life. I just want to die now, but the pain in my heart.
The old man looked into Bill's eyes and was sure he had made up his mind. But the old man didn't show any compassion, just said lightly: "It's up to you to decide whether you want to live or die, but the clothes on your body belong to the old man, and the trouble will be returned to me before you leave!"
Bill thought for a moment and began to undress. But the old man stretched out his hand to stop him.
"Child, people should not only think about revenge in life, but also think about repaying their kindness. My old man saved your life, and he is your reborn parent, and you shouldn't fail to repay this kindness. Moreover, the little old man has no children and no daughters, and he can't live long, so he lacks a person to support his old age. Since you are not even afraid of death, it is not too late to wait for me to die, what do you think?"
After listening to the old man's words, Bill temporarily put aside the idea of seeking death and nodded silently.
