Chapter 19 Libraries
Canaan and Rove wandered around until noon, and they walked around the secret place until Rove's parents, the Scamanders, found them and brought Rove home.
During this time, Canaan also met Scamander and his wife, and they talked cordially for a while, and Canaan found that the couple was very polite and elegant, and had a deep study of magical beasts.
They were also glad that Rov had made such a good friend as Canaan, and invited Canaan to come to their home at any time. Afterwards, Canaan said goodbye to the Scamanders and went to a restaurant in the wizarding realm.
There are a variety of food specialties for sale, as well as coffee and desserts, and Rove thinks the service and food are top notch and highly recommend it to Canaan before leaving.
"Hello, I would like a grilled steak, medium rare. Canaan said to the waiter.
"Okay sir, we have an event today to give you a free cup of Americano. The waiter, dressed in a red dress, said respectfully to Canaan.
"Oh, okay with the Americano, just give me a latte with some raspberry syrup. β
Canaan has always been indifferent to Americano with ground coffee heating water, he has always liked lattes brewed with a small amount of coffee strength and milk, and baristas generally pull various graphics on the surface of the coffee, also known as latte art.
After the order was completed, Canaan witnessed the whole process of making coffee by wizards in the wizarding world.
The barista waved his wand, and a ball of milk and a small cup of ground coffee concentrate floated in the air.
"What a skilled levitation charm. β
Then the barista's wand flickered, and with an unknown spell on his lips, the milk was quickly heated, and then the strength of the coffee was integrated into the milk, after which the milk quickly fell into the cup.
The barista tapped the red syrup jar with his wand, and a cloud of red liquid fell into the milk cup, and he waved his wand again, and a red lotus flower floated on the white.
"Wow, that's nice. Rao is Canaan was also amazed by this cool operation, and in just ten seconds, he completed the production of a cup of coffee, both in terms of spell casting skills and coffee completion.
And the red lotus flower formed by the raspberry syrup at the end is also beautiful and amazing.
"Sir, you can try it, but there aren't many customers asking for a raspberry syrup latte. The barista whispered.
"Okay. Canaan picked up the mug and took a sip of coffee while trying not to spoil the red lotus.
A mellow and slightly bitter feeling came to his mouth, and he took another sip and drank some of the syrup into his mouth, this time with a completely different taste, sweet and fragrant.
"It's delicious. Canaan hiccuped.
"Sir, your steak is ready. The waiter brought the freshly made steak again.
After that, Canaan drank coffee and ate steak at the same time, which also attracted the attention of many wizards.
"Give me a copy as he did. A sorceress, looking at Canaan's eating appearance, swallowed her saliva and said to the waiter.
β......β
After lunch, Canaan was ready to go to the largest library in the area to consult some materials. According to Rove, this library is the largest library in the entire wizarding world, and the relevant documents in it are extremely comprehensive.
Out of the restaurant, Canaan unexpectedly noticed a man in a gray robe and coat behind him looking suspicious. And he seemed to remember that when he was walking around with Rove, this person's also seemed to have appeared nearby.
This person is following me? Canaan was silent, and he decided to take another look.
When the gray-robed man saw Canaan leave the restaurant, he quickly finished paying, took a newspaper in his hand, and followed Canaan as if nothing had happened.
Canaan crossed two avenues to the location of the library in the Wizard's Secret Realm. It is said that this library has a very long history.
The library is a splendid building, with two round marble pillars standing outside. There are three floors inside, each with a different type of book, and the third floor also requires a permit to enter.
"Potions, potions. Canaan muttered quietly as he searched the shelves for books.
He wanted to find an alternative to the Meditation Elixir here, which was the advice given by the Scamanders, who thought that if they couldn't find it here, it might not exist in the wizarding world.
After searching the first level, Canaan roughly looked through 13 books on potions, and found no useful information, and then he quickly went to the second level.
"It's huge. "Canaan felt that many of the facilities here were much better than Diagon Alley, whether it was Muggle-like food or libraries, reflecting the gap between the British wizarding world and the American wizarding world.
Canaan came to a bookshelf, the area on the second floor where Potions books were stored, and he saw a tall sorceress with a pointed wizard hat in front of him, as if she was also looking for a book.
Canaan felt something familiar with her back, where he should have seen it. Although Canaan, who has the Philosopher's Hat, has the ability to remember, he can only remember what he deliberately remembers, and some memories need to be recalled after the fact.
The sorceress did not see Canaan's arrival, but continued to search the shelves, and Canaan found that the books she was looking for were the ones she was looking for, books about the introduction of potions.
"Hello, ma'am, I would like to ask you what books you are looking for, and perhaps I can help you. Canaan asked softly.
The sorceress turned her head and saw Canaan, stunned, and suddenly smiled: "You are Canaan Blaine?"
"Hmm, may I ask you?" Canaan was a little puzzled, the sorceress looked a little old, not young, but he really couldn't remember where he had seen the lady.
"I'm Minerva McGonagall, a professor at Hogwarts. I love your music," Professor McGonagall introduced herself with a smile.
"You're Professor McGonagall, you've seen me perform at the Leaky Cauldron, no wonder you always feel familiar. Canaan was surprised to say that McGonagall was known for her Transfiguration skills in the films, and was one of the most popular of the many Hogwarts professors.
"Canaan, it's a pleasure to see you here. But how did you get here?", Professor McGonagall asked. He remembered that Canaan was a young wizard born in an English Muggle family, how he could appear in the magical secret realm of the United States.
Canaan then explained to Professor McGonagall why he had come to the United States and what he was looking for.
"I see, Canaan, it seems that our purpose is the same, but I have found all the books on the second layer, and there is no relevant information, it seems that we need to go to the third layer. β
Then Professor McGonagall pulled out a piece of paper, "It's good that I applied for a permit in advance, otherwise it would have been troublesome." β
"Come with me, Canaan. Without waiting for Canaan to reply, she strode towards the third floor, while Canaan hurried to follow.
"Professor McGonagall, I would like to ask why you are looking for this potion too?" Professor McGonagall walked so fast that Canaan could only keep up with him at a trot.
"Professor Snape of Hogwarts, I think you've heard of it, he asked me to come here. We need to hurry, I've got to get back to Hogwarts in the evening, you know kids your age like to sneak out at night. Professor McGonagall spoke quickly, looking hurried.
"Professor Snapeβ" Canaan muttered, quickly following Professor McGonagall in front.
They came to the third floor and showed the permit to the guards.
Canaan looked around, the third floor was different from the first two, the space here was much smaller, and a few bookshelves were sparsely placed.
"The books stored here are lonely, old, and heavily guarded, and the permit I applied for was only allowed to stay here for an hour. Professor McGonagall whispered to Canaan.
They came to a bookshelf full of potions-related books. Many of the books are worn out and look very old.
"Dumbledore brought me here once before, and the materials on Potions are probably here, so let's find them separately. Professor McGonagall commanded, and she picked up a book from the shelf and flipped through it.
Canaan also seized the time to pick up another book from the shelf, "The Complete Book of Ancient Potions", the whole book is very thick, about 300 pages, and the cover of the book is a little broken.
